I write this in my position as a Senator for New South Wales, and not as a member of Cabinet, which I shall hold until such time as the PM and People of Australia deem it fit that I help and serve you as Minister of Defence or any position you deem me worthy...

G'day eAustralia

I would like to announce two things. Firstly, my intention to not run in the elections for New South Wales this term, and to thank the people of eAustralia for giving me the chance to represent you over these last two months.

I became a Senator in April, which was a tumultuous time. The Agreement with eIndonesia had been delayed, and I (and many others) saw a period of conflict and difficulty in seeing a way forward for the return of our fine lands.

I would like to personally believe, if for anything else, it was the combined work of patti11, scotywest, cheeseball, cottus and the combined Senate (over two weekends of late nights) that led to the Agreement that leaves us, eAustralia in the position it is today. With MOST regions back, and more yet to come.

Reflecting on some of my own contributions to our nation, thanks to you the people:

Portfolio Budget Act:
My first Act of Parliament, which sought to set a level of accountability AND give arms of eGovernment a chance to make bids for funding to improve things for you all. I consider it a major achievement that the recent Budget set aside funds using this Act for the Minister of Cultural Services to run a scavenger hunt for new citizens to learn about eAustralia and win prizes for their committment!

Cabinet Protocol Act Amendment:
An Act that hopefully sought to ensure people that represented Government spoke either AS a member of Government OR as an individual. Again I hope this went some way to addressing the needless flaming which occured over the months of April, May and early June.

Training 'Boot Camp' Proposal
Though a 14 day trial, the interest in this Program has been immense. I hope it succeeds, and helps new Citizens' as well as revitalise Citizen's new and old into our great community.

What future Ranger Bob?

Well, I may be down this term, but I don't think I am OUT.

Apart from completing my term as a Cabinet Member (Minister of Defence), and presuming Government has no further role for me (for the next CP, Hint Hint! I'm a good cabinet member!) I would like to focus on the two loves of my life.

Firstly and foremost, Cerridwen who has supported me sitting on a PC for two months plus while I have been actively posting and commenting on everything I can.

Secondly to E-PUB, which I have sadly neglected due to time constraints. I hope you lot remain active, as I have many a good idea for the future of the e-Pub, offering contests and prizes for all in the hope we become a GREAT NATION AND COMMUNITY.

Good luck to the future of you all. Again, I will not be leaving but more taking a break. I hope to return to active politics very soon and wish all senators well in their coming election.
