Join the new world

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Before I begin, I'd like to thank those that voted for me in the Congress elections yesterday. Assuming the votes don't change, I have currently been able to get into Congress. So, thank you.

As some of you are no doubt aware, I am running for President this month. I believe this is a great honor, and I decided to take up the opportunity to run about a week ago. I didn't want to release this prior to the Congress elections. I have received several messages wishing me good luck, and I have even received the backing of another party. I hope that this country grants me the opportunity to represent it on the world stage, and to do good for all its citizens.

Before I begin outlining my policies, I'd just like to state that I am neither Chinese nor American, and I do not plan on North Korea being used by either of these nations. That said, North Korea should take an active role in EDEN events, as its own, independent entity.

Firstly, I'd like to outline my military policy. I'd like to see North Korea establish a military force. However, due to economic constraints, this force may be a privately funded one. We obviously need an organized force, and our varied citizenry presents us with a unique opportunity, as we can fight in several time zones (both American and Chinese). I'm no military genius, however, as a rough structure, we should structure our military around this.

Socially, we need to focus on continuing the growth of the country. Focus needs to be placed on overseas countries, as we do not have a Real Life citizenry, as I have stated in previous articles. As I have also stated in other articles, focus must be placed on advertisement in South Africa, the United States of America, Canada and Australia. We need to promote activity, and have an active citizen running the North Korean Employment Agency (which I assume is our social branch in game) to consolidate our citizenry here, and draw in new citizens from overseas. In addition to this, (and vital to our successful development), I would seek to establish a Department of Immigration. This would allow our borders to be protected from potential PTOers. They shall be our front line, and vital to North Korea.

On the subject of foreign policy, I would like to see all of our original regions returned to us. As the Chinese now have access to Eastern Siberia, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to give back our regions. I am yet to discuss this with them, so this is simply a plan. I would also seek to end our wars with China, and Japan. I believe this is vital for our economy to grow, as it allows our companies to sell to these markets. These are simply plans and ideas, as I am obviously not privileged with EDEN High Command plans.

Economically, North Korea is not in the best of positions. At the time of writing, we have zero skill one jobs, one skill two job, three skill three jobs and two skill four jobs. That is across all professions. This is a severe obstacle to North Korean economic growth. I have seen promising signs recently, with several new companies opening up, however I believe we can do more to remedy the situation. I have read an article talking about the establishment of an economy similar to that of Pakistan under the Dioists. This system would fail to work under the V2 model, as it was pre V1. It simply would not translate.

However, government run companies are not a bad idea. Most countries run government orgs. and I see no reason why North Korea should not join that list. The companies would start with essentials, such as rifles and food, but would eventually grow. We should seek to run these at a profit, thus gaining an extra source of income, but their main goal should be to provide workers with jobs if they cannot find others. A government org would have to be erected to facilitate this. I am aware that we have limited supplies of gold and KPW, however I believe we must follow the adage "one must spend money to make money."

I would also seek the raising of import taxes on manufactured goods. Unlike raw materials, we can produce an unlimited number of manufactured goods. I see North Korea gaining autarky very quickly, if we apply ourselves to the task.

However, ladies and gentlemen, the choice to apply yourselves to the task is solely your choice. So, you can choose a North Korea with no organized military, a failing economy, and no free will. Or, you can choose a North Korea that is ready to stand up for itself, that can stand on its own two feet, and is ready to take its place on the international stage. I know what I'd do.
