Protectors Update - practical explanations you all needed.

Day 5,036, 13:16 Published in Estonia Estonia by Mixliarder

Hey guys! 🙂

First of all, this article is not going to be about how to deploy, select a vehicle and other basic stuff. It will be more around that whole mathematics and real game mechanics that is so unclear for most of us. I hope the information collected will be useful for you.

Big thanks to Freiheitskaempfer, n0s3, higter and zRTx for help and a few hours of conversation about this update.

Let's go!

1. Firstly - forget Legends bonuses are existing. This mindset should now be gone. Welcome to the land of Protectors.

Before:
Legends gave you +a few% to maxhit and extra +10% per Legend when fighting for your TP country.
Now:
Legend is just a military rank that is added to the maxhit formula that can be found here https://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Military_formulas#Damage_formula

Each rank is “R” taken from here: https://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Military_rank , e.g. Legend 3 means R = 72 in the maxhit formula, Legend 4 means R = 73, and so on. That’s all about Legends. Forget about any +10% damage bonus and stuff. It’s probably the most important change you have to understand before continuing reading this article.

You will get % damage bonuses from Protectors to your maxhit (that’s why Legends as military ranks are still somewhat important, but not that much, as before).

2. Protectors bonuses are now your new best friends.

Old Military Rank Points have been converted to Protector Experience. Protector Experience is responsible for Protector Levels (max is 50).

Before: At the time of writing this article, I was Legend 20 with 646 703 390 115 ground military rank points, and Air Commodore with 22 406 582 air military rank points.

After:
In Ground, as L20 is reachable with 210 000 000 000 military rank points, everything above has been converted to Universal Protector Points (UPP). It means that I have 10%*(646 703 390 115 - 210 000 000 000) = 43 670 339 011 UPP. Why 10%? Because Rank was converted with 10%. As I was maxed out in Ground Rank for Estonia 🇪🇪, my Level of Protector is obviously 50/50 here.

In Air, my 22 406 582 rank points are now just Protector Experience, that gives me 13/50 Level.

What does it mean? What level will I be in another country?
It means that I can assign 43 670 339 011 UPP immediately to another country to get the Protector Levels. According to the information we collected, it would give me 33/50 and +65% ground bonus in a second country (https://tinyurl.com/protectorlevels for Ground, https://i.imgur.com/DiyY9bN.jpg for Air)

Important: You can obtain UPP only after reaching 50/50 for a specific country. If you are not 50/50 in at least one country, you won’t get any UPP when fighting.

See:
1. How to get Protector Points and Universal Protector Points?
2. (For Legends above 20) If you want to know many UPP you have, click here and check wildcardPoints parameter: https://www.erepublik.com/en/military/armory-data/protectors

Example:
I did some damage for my MPP ally, Germany 🇩🇪. It means that (according to rules) 1% of my damage have been converted to Protector Points. Important: 1%, and not 4%. Why? Because I didn’t have any vehicle assigned there when I was fighting.
So I became Level 3 Protector of Germany with +3% bonus to damage.

However, as you see, I didn’t enroll in any vehicle in Germany. It means that until I enroll a vehicle, I will:
* get only 1% of Protector Points when fighting
* have 0% bonus to damage when fighting.

But when I choose a vehicle for Germany, I will get 3% of damage bonus and 4% of Protector Points when fighting (because it’s my ally).

What does that mean in practice? That (militarily) a citizen is no longer bound to just one country now. I can become Protector 50/50 of Germany and have the same damage bonus as people that had L20 of Germany before. But yeah, let’s forget Legends existed. Protectors, protectors, protectors… A well-organized alliance can create a set of 50/50 protectors with +200% bonuses (in theory) for each other (if they have enough vehicles a.k.a. air/tank skins). It won’t be that easy to achieve 50/50 though, it takes a lot of time.

Some random thoughts:
1. Titans and other lower ranks have significantly increased in the military. They got some Protector Levels and Bonuses from the start, and the huge gap between them and old Legends 20 is gone. It’s still big, but not as enormous as it was. For example: I asked Kasia59 with Titan*** and she has now Level 30/50 and +50% of Bonus for Poland. Do you see how much that gap was reduced? 🙂
2. MPPs between allies now make more sense, because fighting for your ally with a vehicle gives you 4% of Protector Points for that country. Without MPP it will be 2% (with the vehicle).
3. You can become a Protector of many countries at the same time and have bonuses when fighting for them. Great change for well-coordinated countries and alliances.
4. If you were Legend 20 for country X, but somehow you had temporarily citizenship of country Y, the new change screwed your Protector Bonuses a little bit, because some of your points went to your citizenship too. Oops…
5. Feel free to enroll 1 vehicle to Ground and 1 vehicle to Air for your citizenship country as a starting point. It doesn’t matter which vehicle you choose, there is no difference between them.
6. Do not enroll in more than one ground/air vehicle per country. Even if you have 2 ground vehicles enrolled, it gives you nothing and blocks you from assigning them to other countries.
7. There is this Daily Bundle pack with some things and Blueprints. 10 blueprints can be used to unlock a new vehicle (skin) that you didn’t have before (and is blocked for use).

8. They say the blueprint can be used also to UPGRADE (!) the vehicle… But nobody knows how, when, etc. In the following weeks maybe? 😃
9. If you have for example 8 Ground Vehicles unlocked (from 12), you can become Protector at the same time for 8 countries. This is more complicated for Air, there are less skins (now known as vehicles)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments. I may update this article later with new information.
