Presidential Candidacy Announcement

Day 894, 16:58 Published in Belgium Belgium by Kylero

My fellow eBelgians,

I am proud to announce my candidacy for Prime Minister of eBelgium! Our country is ready for a change, and I strongly believe I am the person to lead us to a greater tomorrow!

Background

I started my eLife in the eUSA in July '09. I spent the first five months of my life in the eUSA since it is where I reside in RL. I was immediately interested in politics, and in August, I was elected PP of the US Green Party. I served as PP for three terms, until the first acts of eUS agression in Japan. I was a vocal opponent of this agression, and it alienated me from my friends and fellow party members. It alienated me from my country. I then wanted a change of pace. At the time, eBelgium was Congress-less, so I was able to get citizenship right away, so I took advantage of this opportunity and started my new life in eBelgium. During my time here, I have been elected to Parliament three times, and have served my constituents well by proposing and enacting Constitutional, tax, and procedural reforms. I am proud of the work I've done in the Parliament, and am wanting to channel my energy to the grandest of all scales, the Prime Ministry.

Plans

Cabinet
I think the current cabinet structure is flawed. We have too many people doing trivial things. Actually, we have a couple people doing important things, and a bunch others in positions that have nothing really to do. I would like to cut most of the cabinet positions. I think in a country as small as ours, we don't need 10 plus posts, and trying to fill them with people who don't really know what to do. I think it is worthwhile to have three essential Minsitries, Treasury, Defence, and Domestic Affairs. These would be filled by the most qualified people. They can then delegate responsibilities to their chosen staff. Anything else that needs addressed will come from me, as the buck stops here, and firing people doesn't mean leadership, nor does it help anything.

Domestics
Jobs, jobs, jobs! We need more lower skilled jobs. We can do this many of ways. We can subsidize companies to provide jobs, lower the minimum wage to stimulate jobs, or we can set up more state companies that will put pressure on private companies to either raise wages or provide more jobs. I will work with my Minister of the Treasury to find the best course of action, but we need this, and I will get this done! I want more welfare orgs to give food and other supplies to noobs. I will encourage the Parliament to pass legislation that makes for a better process of approving citizenship requests to ensure that only people who want to help eBelgium are granted the privelage of citizenship. And we need to do away with the constant xenophobic rhetoric that stifles our progress as an eNation.

Foreign
Neutrality and training wars are at the top of my foreign agenda. We don't have the resources to fight wars, nor we do as a people want to be agressors. But we do need to have a strong diplomatic strategy to keep us from being attacked.

Conclusion
Sure, I know this presentation isn't the prettiest thing ever, but what I lack in article writing finesse, I make up for in pragmatic thinking. Bottom line, eBelgium is boring as it stands! Not much journalistic creativity, forum participation, or enthusiasm about the future. Its as if we're waiting for the New Era to come to an abrupt end. Its as if eBelgium is merely a "holding" state, a buffer zone. That will end when I become Prime Minister! We will begin to run this country, not wait for it to start. We will advance our society into the V2 age, and will be a place to do business, make friendships, and advance the knowledge of eRepublik to countless numbers of noobs. I want to make eBelgium the beacon of game mechanics education, so we can train the smartest leaders here and abroad!

Thank you, and please consider voting for me as your next Prime Minister of eBelgium!
