Poutine with the Pals #6 - TemujinBC

Day 2,512, 19:45 Published in Canada Canada by klop123

We're back now that all the vote buying has disappeared. I recently had the pleasure of interviewing everyone's favourite butt & one of the first players I met in this game TemujinBC

1. Tell us a little about the RL TemujinBC

The RL TemujinBC lives in Smithers, BC. I’ve lived here since 1992 when my family moved here (I turned 14 here). Before that, I grew up in a small mining town called Cassiar:

Really close to the Yukon border 😁

I’m currently 36 and live with my GF and her two sons (ages 8 and 5). I am co-owner of a small cleaning company that does everything from carpet and furniture cleaning to furnace ducts, range hoods, flood and fire cleanup and a pile of other stuff if the price is right!

I was an evangelical for a number of years (even went to Bible College) in my 20’s but dropped it around 2007 or so.

In 2009 I was cajoled into buying two tickets for a raffle, and remarkably I won first prize:

2. RL Hobbies and Interests?

I used to be a huge hockey nut and really followed the Canucks. That’s kind of fallen by the wayside the past couple years though. I’m an anarchist (although I prefer the term voluntaryist) and an atheist so as a result my interests include religion and politics (LOL). This summer I started fishing for the first time in my life, and I seem to enjoy it. Smithers BC is quite well known for having great fishing but I haven’t caught anything so far. 😕

I like studying a wide variety of subjects like cosmology and evolution and physics and history and geology but I’m hardly an expert in any particular field.

3. Best RL adventure you've been on?

Heh! I had a great time in Drumheller, Alberta once:

A wild Tem appears mating with a dinosaur

And went to Seattle in 2009 (it was one month before I joined eRep, interestingly enough)

DAYUM

There have been lots of other trips and such but one of the most memorable was in 2010 when I went to Toronto and met up with a bunch of eRep players. I won’t show any pictures of the poor souls but I did have a nice martini at the top of the CN Tower

*sips loudly*

4. How did you start playing erep? Why'd you stay?

I started playing when I clicked a banner advertisement through kongregate.com (maybe it was addictinggames but I think it was kongregate). I stuck around because I immediately liked the concept of the game and the interconnectedness of the various modules, as well as the meta-game stuff, particularly IRC. Within a few weeks of joining I had applied for The Crimson Order - back then it was called Brucks Canucks - and if there was any chance of me quitting the game it disappeared after that..

5. Favourite Module and why?

When I first joined I really liked the Media module. The military module grew on me though, back then there were limits on the amount of hits you could do in battle, and times strikes were key. Nowadays I can’t really say I like anything about this game HAHAHA! It’s really been a slow crushing train wreck since about January 2011 (and probably even before that).

6. You're one of eCanada's (few) better known players around this game of ours. You've been to Hungary, Romania and even Indonesia among others! Tell us about your adventures here!

I’ll never forget the first time I got citizenship in Turkey just for the lulz. People thought I had sold my account! But there are a lot of great people in pretty much every eCountry. At first it was fun to be on the opposite side of Canada, since Hungary, Turkey and Indonesia were opponents back in the day. As you can see on my profile page, I know how to say “butt” in many languages and I would encourage all eCanadians out there to experience a new country once in a while.. Perhaps with practice and dedication you can learn to say “butt” in even more languages than I can!

7. You've been CP twice, once in Indonesia. Tell us about that. How did it differ from your first term?

It was really funny because I had a core group of Indonesians that supported me from IRC, and I rode that wave to the CP chair. The biggest challenge was that I can’t speak Indonesian. The best part about it was having fun on IRC and getting to meet a lot of great Indonesians. It really was ground-breaking since I was the first non RL Indo to win CP there. The worst part about it was getting wiped by Croatia (and it was all my fault too). As CP of Canada I faced an invasion from the UK but didn’t get wiped. I survived all attempts at impeachment though…. what can I say, my subjects love me.

8. Best movies and books you've seen/read?

I haven’t been much of a movie watcher in my life but of course I liked The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The Illusionist was good, so was The Aviator, GlenGarry Glen Ross,, The Godfather series…. yeah I should stop with the movies because I really havent watched anything recent LOL

As for books, I am a fan of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. Stephen Hawking’s A Brief history of Time is a great read for anyone interested in physics. Life of Pi by Yann Martel was really good too, the ending is really great.

9. Favourite moment in eCanada's history? Why?

Yikes…. how to choose? Spamming the CAF section of the ecan forums was hilarious (The Door was opened!), trolling Jacobi was always good for a laugh or three, the day we actually took London was quite something, and the whole “Free TemujinBC” thing was entirely awesome. When I first joined the game, Canada was occupied by Iran, Hungary and France. The battles to liberate Yukon and NWT were really intense, and thinking about it makes me long for the old battle screen and old military module rules.

Some of the most memorable things are also sad things, like when I went to Tyler F Durden’s funeral and met Plugson and Taiwan Panda. Hard to call a funeral a “favorite” memory but it was memorable. Doubly sad because neither of them plays the game anymore. I often wonder how Plugson is doing these days.

10. Favourite moment in erep history? why?

The #Rebellion was really a tremendous event, and the day Poland was wiped by Romper’s Visa has to rank right up there. Several years ago Croatia had been wiped and a Serbian PTOer named Lipek was on the ballot for CP and it looked like he was going to win. The shout feed was FULL of “VOTE LIPEK” and “LIPEK IS THE TRUE CANDIDATE” and of course the counter shouts to vote for the real Croat in the race. That was priceless.

I think my favorite moment has to be when I was talking on Skype with Homer J Simpson, and he let his youngest daughter take the microphone call me a douche. 😁

11. Favourite butt?

My own, of course.

12. Greatest player you've met thus far? why?

Oh gads, so many to choose from (I know that sounds like a cop-out but it’s true). The list is nearly endless but Tyler F Durden is near the top of my list. All the eCan legends from Addy and Rylde to Jacobi and KronosQ, even that turdrocket Rolo has to be up there. And if I start naming non-Canadians we will be here a long time, so I’ll just stop there.

13. http://prntscr.com/4s6hsd

Well I know who damned-sure ain’t getting a power pack from me next month!

14. What is something you've done (here or otherwise) that you recommend everyone do?

In "RL" I would recommend everyone to visit Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands), especially if you are into camping and hiking. It's a great place.

In Erep I would recommend that everyone send a message to Crisfire telling him that he is a butt. I've included a handy link to make it easier for everyone:

HERE

15. Fritzhill or Rylde? 😮

They both have that same damned avatar now and it seems more and more like they are multis of Ralph Kline.

16. What do you say to new players that have just started playing eRep? (I know rare but still!)

Besides "Quit now, you damned fool!" I think the best thing to tell new players is not to invest in companies. Update your training grounds first since they actually pay off and will make you money in the future.

Thanks Tem for the interview! 😃

As always, leave suggestions, questions you want answered or people you want to see interviewed in the comments below! Stay tuned for my next two interviews, I promise they'll be a treat!
