EPISODE ONE: TheSpartan

I met TheSpartan about a year ago while in the Airborne. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I liked him in the beginning due to the fact that he was loud, brash and freely spoke his mind. As it turned out that he was also a really nice guy, one of the most loyal people I’ve ever met and as an added bonus; a fellow Texan. The guy has also accomplished more than most when it comes to his service in the eUS Military. He’s a former CO of the Airborne and former CO of the Army’s 10th Mountain Division. Other accomplishments include former Director of CTF, a former congressman (eTexas) and he was Chairman of the military subcommittee while in Congress.

For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of meeting him, I sat down with him this afternoon and asked him a few questions.

Is there anything specific you’d want people to know about you?

Wow..how can I answer this without sounding like an egotistical prick? Well I've had moderate success in the game. Over 2 years old on here now. Most of my work has been with the eUS military and I'm the man responsible for everyone tagging up during mass attacks.

And you’re proud of this?

Well I have to be. It's the only thing I've done on here that has stood the test of time.

Yeah, thanks A LOT for that.

To the guy that started military tags…

So, what’s been your favorite thing about playing eRepublik?

Making some close friends who I keep in touch with IRL. The camaraderie Airborne used to have is unmatched by anything I've seen on this game and it's always kept me coming back for more. Granted we all get burned out and take a break but it's harder to stay away when you have people you enjoy talking to on a daily basis.

Any thoughts on the new war module?

While it's not quite the good ole wall it certainly seems a step in the right direction from the crap players have had to put up with since July. I haven't fought since v1 so I can't really make too educated of a statement until I test this puppy out and see if it's worth using but from all banter I've heard today it seems like our best friends the admin team have actually done something right for a change.

If I were to open your refrigerator right now, what would I find?

Well considering I'm a man and my girl doesn't live with me... you'd find a 30 of Coors Light, half gallon of Crown, maybe some milk and literally nothing else. It's been a while since I went grocery shopping.

So what’s for dinner tonight, then?

I was literally just thinking about that. Might have to go to McDonalds and order me a "McGangbang"

Um…so is that like a tossed salad and a lot of coke?

Ha nah not at all. It's basically a heart attack waiting to happen. Take a double cheeseburger or McDouble and then get a McChicken. You then slap the chicken in between the two patties of meat and voila… McGangbang. It’s amazing.


Thank goodness this isn’t what TheSpartan was talking about.

What’s your favorite sports team?

Ha. Best question you've asked thus far. Hook ‘em Horns!

So, at this very moment, who do you hate more: the Sooners, the Bruins, or the Aggies?

Oh that's not fair. So many teams I hate…but I can't dwell on the past so I hate the Sooners more. Way more!

Who is someone that has made an impact on you here in eRepublik?

My favorite smexy Jew (Jewitt). If it weren't for seeing an article of his recruiting for Airborne I'd probably still be cluelessly 2-clicking in eTexas. He forever changed the way I played the game and inspired me to put more effort into it. He was a great president, brilliant economically and despite my lack of knowledge on anything other than military he still manages to find a place for me in whatever plan he cooks up.


Jewitt or…Jewitt?? Which guy is the one that TheSpartan knows?

What advice would you give to new players just starting out here?

Don't give up. The game can be hard as hell to understand if you're new. Took me 9 months to figure things out myself but there are programs out there to help new citizens. The game is about the community. Honestly eRep is a crappy game but the people here make it fun so stick in there and know everyone was where you were at at one point... Oh and join the eUS Military.
