On The Purpose Of The Congress, And How It Never Had A Purpose + Switzerland

Day 3,564, 07:05 Published in Switzerland France by Pulse0123

Congress Elections are in two day and I had to write "a few" words about what the Congress is, what does it do (or doesn't) and what has it done since its implementation as an eRepublik feature. Let's begin with this picture from the eRepublik Wiki:

Well, okay. First of all, IT IS a legislative political body in every country and we all know what that means since we do know how legislative bodies work in real life. Since they work bad in real life, they also work bad in eRepublik. Its members DO propose laws but tell me: how many laws have been proposed without the consent for approval of the executive body? Is there any Congress in eRepublik that works as described above in the picture or is every one of them working like in real life (well, there are real life legislative bodies who work as they were supposed to).

Since legislative bodies work as in most real life countries and Erepublik Labs isn't introducing any changes to the feature, why should it be an obstacle for us, players, to have fun and expand functions of our legislative bodies beyond the rules? It is fun to do that stuff, believe me, I've done it and it's fun.

On the link above, we can see what kind of laws can be put on vote. Some of them can only be proposed by members of the legislative body and some only by the president of the country. I'm kind of okay with that because any of those are put on vote regardless who proposed it. BUT, there's no fun since the function of every legislative body here is limited to voting and nothing else. There are debates but really, how much? And now we get to another way to make fun: why shouldn't a president or congress member initiate a debate instead of waiting for the executive to debate and propose? It is okay for laws which are needed to be accepted in a hurry, but really, when it comes to a tax change, why is there no debate on that on a group conversation or a forum or chat? Maybe they exist but I'm not sure of that.

No comment on dictators since I hate the feature. And no comment on the existing features since they are crap but we need to play by the rules. Now, let's talk Switzerland.

I reject calling the legislative body of Switzerland a Congress. The legislative body of Switzerland is the Federal Assembly made of two chambers: the National Council (elected members of electoral units) and the Council of States (delegated by Cantons). Since we do not have cantons, I'm fine sticking to the Federal Assembly which is also called a Bundesversammlug or Assemblée fédérale or Assemblea federale or Assamblea federala since you know, Switzerland has a dozen of official languages.

What are my proposals on how to have use the feature of the Federal Assembly here to make some fun in the political, economic and other subjects of citizen activity? How is the list.

One: the Federal Assembly as a place for political participation.

Not everyone can be in the executive body which I also call the Federal Council and ministers Members of the Federal Council and ministries Federal Departments. Because of that, the Federal Assembly is an awesome place for citizens to initiate political debates and propose policies which could be implemented in the work of the Federal Council. We are a 100-population-country and our legislative body can have up to 30 members. An ideal place for everyone to join and create politics.

Two: the Federal Assembly as a place for some formalities.

Every legislature in real life has documents, workbooks, which determine how the body works. Why shouldn't we make one? What should it contain in the domain of legislative activities? Well, here are some ideas: the election of the President of the Federal Assembly, regulations on how the debates should be working, regulations on how laws should be debated, proposed and voted. AND, how immigration policies should be respected. We cannot force every member to follow such features made only to establish formality, but the rest can take part of it and have real fun in the game which is supposed to represent a virtual copy of the real world.

Three: the Federal Assembly as a legislative body.

When enacting policies, the Federal Council should be obligated to discuss those with members of the Federal Assembly. Members then ratify them. What happens after they vote them up? They become law. Unofficial laws should be deposited on some forum or some website or just concentrated on the official newspaper of some Federal Department newspaper where they would be visible to read and be analysed for eventual changes.

All these formalities are slowing down political and other crap activities but, where is the fun when you don't have a 3-day-debate on why we should lower our import tax to 1% since we have no food on our markets? Or where is the fun when we can't have a wider discussion on how we should increase our population? Or where is the fun where we can't have a wider discussion on how we should enact a military or economic strategy as a long term solution?

These are just a few on my ideas as I'll be running for the FEDERAL ASSEMBLY August/September session where I, if elected, will at least try to implement some stuff I've described above.

That's all for today.
Einen schönen Abend.
