New Battlefield

New Battlefield

I just had my first experience with the new battlefield. You get to it via the shiny red mysteriously labelled new page button at top left of the battlefield. If you don't see the button, try append -new to the battle url:

.../en/military/battlefield-new/xxxxx

It seems quicker and cleaner and more info is hidden behind clicky expandable displays to optimize viable space. Customizable to your preferred view, I suppose, which is a positive. Avatars are smaller to speed up page loads. The field, though, is decidedly empty looking with two tanks staring each other down in a whole lot of empty. I assume there is a trick coming somewhere -- like showing you fellow MU members on the field with you -- even though MU cannot be sorted by divisions easily so pointless in the larger scheme of things anyway. Can you select a different opponent? Without knowing how easy they are to kill its irrelevant. So choice disguising the random lack of choice means more of the same: a strategic PVP wargame without strategy or opponents.

You have a running Prestige Point count at the top. All the extra space still cannot tell count how many hits (you could us prestige points for this I concede) or kills you have made in the battle as you make them. So you need keep switching back and forth to the laggy battle stats to try keep track of you spree if you are chasing Daily Orders, Resistance War medals or Mercenary medals. Since they play a minor part in enticing players where to fight; you may understand why this is left out.
You still cannot tell how many hits you need to kill an opponent nor which weapon (now ammo) is the most effective to do so. But then, your "ammo" is hidden with you stock levels (good), damage (good but irrelevant) and a hand shortcut to the market.

The MPP lists still don't allow you to click on an ally for the option to move there. But they seem easier to read now and are sorted alphabetically. Yay.

There is nothing new strategically on the battlefield. There is nothing that couldn't better be served with a box to enter how much damage you want to drop to save you some pointless clicks. Nice to know nothing has changed for our little "internationally acclaimed strategic MMO" to live up to its banner snort-worthy claim.

So, a typical update... more bling while ignoring the most basic needs. Nice effort, but no revolution.

TL😉R More new, same old. Ho-hum.
