My two cents about the cities update

Day 3,468, 08:27 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Redi Jodikku

Dear eRep citizens,

Today I’m writing something again to explain you a bit the houses. I know most of you are a bit lazy and don’t feel like reading the latest update and thinking what they imply, so I will try to explain a bit the main figures and give you my opinion on some aspects.

If you want to read what admins have to say about cities just read the latest updates.

Key aspects summarize😛

Boosting your energy availability: Being in a city will boost your energy recovery. By how much will depend on how many active houses you have on your storage. It will as well make your energy pool bigger.

Housing-energy chart

The bigger the city, the more you pay: Being in big cities is expensive. Amsterdam, New York, Los Angeles, Barcelona and most major cities are more expensive to live in than smaller towns close to them and eRep will not be an exception. Each city will as well make your houses endure more, the smaller the city, the more they will endure.

Cities will have a budget: Cities will split evently 10% of the national revenues and will as well have their own taxes . We don’t know what will this budget be for yet, but I would expect some sort of boosters of different kinds.

There is a lump-sum tax for residence permit and then a percentual tax for each house you want to allocate in the specific city, notice that you will pay every time you allocate one house there, not just when you first move to the city.

The base for the percentage is some sort of world’s average price and the durability of your house, the formula has not been disclosed but I’m sure ze germans will do it at some point since when you have prices data it should not be too complicated to find out the actual formula. Taxes can be modified by the local government.

Now, some of my personal opinions.

I think there might be some reasons for being in big cities. The first one is laziness. Being in your residence hall gives you an extra amount of energy, so it is better for you to be there the most time possible, so, having them where you have your holdings might be a good idea for those lazy asses that don’t like to travel.

The second one, more related to the update, is about the budget. As I have said, cities will handle a budget. It is not clear yet what will they do, but obviously, the more people living there, the more taxes the city will collect.

how the residence page looks like

Maybe the coolest part of the update is the fact that there will be a bit more of politics involved. With few people playing the game has become far too simple to enjoy a bit, but at the same time we see a lot of problems to retain new players. Admins do some campaigns that have a lot of new players to join but these players won’t last long because the game is not attractive enough, having more political game can help the new players to feel like they can play a role while they grow and get to know the community.

This is a quick recap on what this change could mean. For more technical and detailed information refer to the latest updates page or simply ask in comments and myself or someone else will try to answer.

Stay safe out there.
