What a pleasant surprise!

A big fat Thank You to all the players that answered my inquiry related to political parties in the eUSA - by comments to this article, ingame personal messages, and replies on the eUSA forum.

Because many of the answers were offered in private, I’m keeping all of them confidential.
Thank you: Andy Dufresne, Animis, Arrden, Bob Boudahili, Captain Black Sheep, Customs of Dahomey, Fanaxidiel, Gabrielz_Horn, Garmr, George Armstrong Custer, Gnilraps, Henry William French, Inwegen, Jasper Signa, Jessina, Jimmy Cincinnati, Kody5, Longbaugh, LordRahl2, Niemand, Patrilum, Perry Rhodan, Phil Harmony, Roper 70, Saltheart Foamfollower, Senry, shadowber, sony toprano, Synesi, Syrup, Toto Schillaci, Tyler Bubblar, Wasp15, Wild Owl, Wooky Jack, xOlDirtyBastardx, Yui MHCP001.

I was overwhelmed by the amplitude of the reaction, the benevolence of the people offering the help and the usefulness of the information provided.

Looking at all that info I realized the potential value of an eventual synthesis of this Intel:
1. it could be very useful for other players to choose a party that fits them,
2. it could help uninvolved citizens mobilize to vote and to take part in other forms of decision making,
3. it could determine already engaged citizens to reconsider their position and become more active in changing the status quo.

Overall, I think it’s a pretty interesting "radiogram" of the eUSA political system.
Also, a mirror for the political leaders to look into. Do you like what you see?

These are the contributions:

General considerations

- eUSA party politics have almost noting in common with RL politics.

- The politics here are a bit weird, few groups control the majority and rule like elites.

- There is absolutely nothing "Socialist" about the "Socialist Freedom Party", neither is there anything "Classist" about the United States Workers Party, neither is there anything "Federalist" about the Feds.

- I would honestly say don’t come into the game looking for a real life ideology to exist. The ingame part that calls Feds pro fed gov, SFP socialist and USWP socialist don’t mean a thing. I would say each party is essentially its own community with its own ideas and such.

- It all means nothing. Though, in reality, this game is mostly either fascist or libertarian in the strict sense of the word.

- Honestly, there isn't any T5 party with a truly active community any more.

- The names of the parties as well as the choices of buttons that the founders got to click has little to do with the parties themselves (imho), unfortunately hardily any are truly active. I would suggest going to the eUS forums introduce yourself to the different parties and see which responses offer the most entertainment for you - hopefully that is why you play (entertainment value).

- I would agree that the political descriptions of each party have little bearing on what they stand for. The eUSA forums would give you a better feel for how the parties interact.

- Welcome to the eUSA. Why don't you just try them all out? Join them for a few days, sleep over at the party headquarters, see how they go about their business.

- If I was you I would take a tour into the newspapers of the most influential citizens of each party, and try to understand their way of playing.

- In my personal opinion, the best party to join is the party with the most competent leaders and officials. In this regard, there is no comparison between the USWP & Feds versus every other party.

- You should find a party which seems successful in the game (gets lots of people elected and then doesn't have to defend them because they are fucking up) and aren't a giant bag of dicks. That should leave you with two solid options, Feds and USWP.

Federalist Party

- The Feds are where I’m most biased because the only reason I ever played this game for any length was because of my party.
We are probably the last party able to have our own semi thriving community and with hard work we can still make it grow. I think we have people with a wide range of stances on the few things you can have different stances on, though the main one is the dictatorship and our party is about 90% pro dictatorship. We generally focus on ingame media and we lose politics, both inter party and us gov politics is where you'll find most of us. For the past 5-6 terms it’s just been Feds mostly.

- Obviously I'm a Federalist and I recommend my Party because we don't force a Party line. We invite all to participate in our secret ballot primaries so they have a say in how we do things. You can be as active as you want and will get a lot of help in furthering any goals you have.

- Fed Party for sure. No other party offers anywhere close to the same level of activity, opportunity and diversity.

- If you decide to join the Feds and decide you want to try a taste of the action, just talk to PP candidates about working for them. That's how I started out.

- I can see you are higher level so programs don’t really mean much to you but to me it’s a sign that the party cares. Other than programs we have basically dominated politically. So, if you decide to ever run for politics, Feds would be the easy route to get that done.
They are helpful to anyone that reaches out to and, by your article, you don’t have to worry about that cause you are already doing it. Anyway you are welcome to join if you so desire.

- The largest and probably the most active party. They have probably the best party supply program of any T5 party. The party in general is for higher taxes and for the dictatorship. The party supports some trolls in congress and keeps putting them in there. They also keep largely inactive but well-known players in congress for some reason.

- When it comes to first starting out, I believe that the Federalists are the best. They also don't judge you if/when you leave (not saying others do). We had a guy in leadership say that he needed something new, went to the SFP for a few months, and was welcomed back immediately when he decided to leave the SFP.

- I will of course ask you to join my own party, the Federalist Party, but I will back that up with. We are probably the most inclusive party (part of the reason we are the biggest party). We are also very good to newcomers. We are the most "middle ground" of the top five. On the one hand you have the USWP on the other you have the SFP and Black Sheep (We The People has been in a funk for a while). While us Feds tend to side more with the USWP, we are definitely more middle ground than any of the others.
Wherever you choose to go in the end, welcome to the eUSA.

- Fed Party. We are THE Largest and MOST active party in eRep. WTP would be my next recommendation, but they are not nearly as active or cohesive.

United States Workers Party

- If you are a game-mechanics person, USWP has always prided itself on that.

- In my personal opinion the USWP trumps the Feds for quite a few reasons (chiefly, the fact that it's led by eRep veterans of the highest order).

- The USWP is a party for people who like the current rules in gov, usually don't like too much change because they believe the current rule set works. They aren't very active outside of showing up to vote and showing up when they believe things aren't working. They are the party used as an image of "evil government" usually by the SFP recently.

- My least favorite party. Many trolls here who like to spew offensive verbiage & insults. The party does have significant power but from my observation, tends to enforce party line voting. They are in general in favor of high taxes, liberal spending & the dictatorship.

- The USWP is the oldest active party in the United States and one of the oldest active parties in the entire history of eRepublik.

- USWP because this is an online game and USWP is home to some of the eUSA best players.

- USWP and come join Easy Company MU.

- You will do well in USWP.

Socialist Freedom Party

- SFP embraces every view, except war mongering.

- If you're pro democracy then it's SFP obviously! And we fight for the well-being for the whole of us as a nation, not only the elitist few!

- The game mechanics limit the impact political philosophies actually can play so basically it ends up being the same outcome for all the parties but with a different style. The one exception may be SFP who in my opinion does provide an alternative world view from the rest of the top 5.

- To be fair, both ("Socialist" and "Socialist Freedom Party") are completely unable to accomplish anything of note.

- This is an individualist party. Everyone is free to take any position they want. They are pretty good about putting new players in congress. They are a bit chaotic as one cannot depend on their position for anything. Think one way one month & different the next. Overall civil players here.

- I found my home in SFP. Because I think you are close to my political and social view, it could be a good choice for you too, but I am from the radical left, you say you are not. I think that is more about the definitions of these words than real difference between your ideas and my ideas, but I am not sure.

- SFP is a party of mixed origins. We have some socialists (social democrats and others) communists (they are not that good in freedom, however our communists are from western world, they do like freedom more than the stalinists) and all kind of anarchists.
Our party wants to connect freedom with solidarity and we agree that different opinions are needed to improve the party. We do agree to disagree. Our members of congress are free to vote and propose whatever they like. On our party forums we do have elections each month for the congress. Anyone that wants to run is in our primaries. All members can vote for 5 different people. The one with the most votes gets the first spot, than the second and so on.

- The SFP is probably a contender for one of the most active parties but they have a consensus on gov that no one else and often their own members don't agree with and when they encounter someone else with a differing opinion they can’t handle it very well. They don't like the dictatorship and often go to extreme measures to push their own narrative even though its pretty shit and they know it.

- Welcome to SFP man! Make great America again!

- Welcome to eUSA, Comrade!

The Black Sheep Party

- The BSP is fairly active but they are the party you go to when you don’t want to be bothered with politics. They don't venture into the political scene much.

- Hey, Honestly if you are looking for friendly people and place to hang your head I would say join our party. We aren't as active as we use to be probably why you wrote us as being elitists. Our party use to stand for more but we all have gotten discouraged by the way eUSA is ran and the fact no matter how hard we tried we can never change things. We use to have over 200 members now we are down to 70 most quit because the other "elite" parties have and always will use multis to keep their party numbers up. They control our forums they control the majority of congress they made it impossible to change things without them wanting it. We still try to fight when we can for what we can but with dictatorship there isn't much left we can do. I hope you drop in and give us a shot if don't feel at home you can always choose another party. Hope to see you on party feed.

- O yeah that was our motto ("We don't run with the herd anymore!") we made when we left from the gov that was ran by the elitists and started the Black Sheep MU and then the party.

- We don't run with the heard because we are the loyal opposition. We stand for lower taxes and freedom. We stand against elitism and cliques. That is what "We don't run with the herd anymore!" means to most of us. We are open and welcoming to all who will be civil to their peers within the party. I will admit to those outside of the party we have been known to become uncivil when we believe that someone(s) are trying to abridge our freedoms or to exploit the system for personal gain at the expense of others. Otherwise, I believe that our characterization of being the Loyal Opposition is appropriate.

- My party is The Black Sheep Party. The party is for low taxes & are against the dictatorship. The party is not fond of the external meta forums for the eGovernment. This said, each member is free to deviate from those opinions in congress, meaning difference of opinion is fine & a member won't be penalized for that. For example I am in favor of the defensive dictatorship and they made me an Honor Guard party member anyway. Activity and civility trump political opinions. New and active players won't find it overly difficult to get into congress here.

- Naturally I am going to tell you to join Blacksheep but I am slightly biased. Few smaller groups like us stand for the people and do our best to counter the elite rule. We're not fans of the dictator module because we feel the players should be able to pick their reps to rule, 1 person or 1 group deciding isn't fair to the rest of the players. We're also against high taxes. We feel the players should never have to pay just to play a game.

- We have a Military unit & what I consider a great group of guys. We also are active on IRC chat & have designed a fun little IRC game to keep us occupied.

We The People

- They used to be larger but I believe had some sort of split a year or so ago. One doesn't hear much from them anymore. I think they are split on taxes & dictator.

- Don’t bother with the WTP, there’s only 2-3 active members and they really aren’t all that active.

American Military Party

- Pacifism is very antithetical to the construction of the game itself. A pacifist nation accomplishes nothing because it prevents its citizens from gaining XP and enjoying all facets of the game. (this is an indirect argument, but I included it here because no one had anything to say about this party)

EZC's Apolitical Party

- The most friendly and active group might be the EZC apolitical party. They do stuff and intentionally stay out of ingame politics. The MU would be happy to have you as well.

- Easy Company is the number 1 place for cooperation, brotherhood, and getting the most out of the game.

American Freedom Alliance

- I saw your comment about AFA. We have left that description that we were totalitarian. It's from the past. Now we are party that looks for freedom for all, just as you have said.
We are the first to be denied freedom, as we are not allowed to have Congress members. So, our first goal is to get status as any other US party has, with full possibilities in political life.

- The AFA is a garbage party that has spent the majority of its existence granting citizenship to infiltrators actively trying to overthrow the government.

Old Farts United

- I can't, or won't, speak for any other political Party but my own, Old Fucks United, which I founded. We have withdrawn from politics, to the point of that being our mantra: "we just don't give a fuck." You'd be welcome to join us, but don't expect anything - nothing is exactly what we offer.

Same lake, but is it me or the image just got clearer? 🙂

Alternative reccomandations:
- Join my cult of personality.
- Wash your feet in the holy sand of Pakistan and Dio will lead you to the right choice.
- None. Turn around and leave the game.

Thank you all!
Yours,
