Today is Wednesday, February 29th, day 1562, and I was in the market at 15:00. Oblige is officially running for his fourth term as president, he claims it will be his last. Arno600's paper Lazy_Chewie published another clever comic. I finally got to run the data on the new Q2 Training Grounds upgrades, and my results are below, but first, let’s do the numbers.

I have seen a great deal of analysis in the part few days of the new upgrade option for the Training Grounds buildings, but all of them seem to be either overcomplicated or missing critical aspects. I assume that the average player will be interested in only the free building, and they will be interested in both the strength level and financial gains from the upgrade. If a lot of people comment that they do, in fact, use the "pay gold" buildings, I will be glad to go back and expand the analysis. I am basing my calculations off my own strength level (1391), though the starting place is fairly arbitrary, and I ran the numbers for one whole year (365 days). I am assuming that I will train every day and work every day to claim the daily +1/+1 bonus (+5/+5 on the 5th day). For now, here are my conclusions:

Strength Points
The obvious benefit of the upgrade is that one will increase their strength level more quickly, an extra 5 points per day. After one month (31 days), I would have gained an extra 10% strength by upgrading (1757 versus 1597). The percentage difference increases less drasticly over time, but the upgrade would provide for about a 47% increase over the course of one year (5699 versus 3869).

Monetary Boost
The cost of upgrading (20G) is somewhat high, especially for newer players, and the return is small but worth mentioning. It is not the most profitable investment compared to Q5 factories or Q4 RM farms, so the Training Ground is not optimal for financial investment. Taking into account the accelerated Super Soldier reward, the citizen who upgrades will briefly break even with the one who did not upgrade after 158 days (22 weeks), but fall behind again at 164 days. The upgrader will pull even again at 179 days and ultimately pull ahead on the 200th day (28 weeks).

The Q2 upgrade for the free training center is a good investment in strength. It will provide a small monetary gain in the long-term, but should not be treated as a financial investment.
