Leadership, or Lack Thereof

Day 3,146, 21:37 Published in USA USA by GoneAndGone

The Presidency. It is the hardest job in this country. Some old fellow back in the day, whose name currently escapes me, told me he never could understand why so many people wanted the job; it’s full of long hours, long meetings, and an even longer list of people who are dissatisfied with your performance. No matter how well you do, you will never please everyone. Half the country will always think of you as the worst president ever, and that’s just part of the job. Regardless of all that though, the Presidency is also one of the most hotly contested positions in this country. In theory, only the best of the best will ever hold that spot.

What makes a good president, beyond being “the best of the best” is always a deeply discussed subject. One day, years ago, I said to Israel what I believe to be the most important factors in being a good president: Luck, and Leadership Skill.

Every great CEO, musician, sports star, every person out there in the world who has made it says luck played a huge part in their success. They stepped over far more naturally talented folks due to sheer luck in their path to the top. The same is true for the presidency.

This dichotomy of skill meeting luck is best demonstrated in recent years by a well known fellow here in the eUS - WildOwl. Now, to be clear, I don’t like WildOwl. Not any more at least. We used to be chill, but after years of people riding his beak and fluffing his feathers, he became the most egotistical person in this country. But god damn, he is also one of the best Presidents we’ve had in probably the past three years. And it’s because he had great leadership skills, and was incredibly lucky.

WildOwl never faced an invasion. WildOwl never faced a PTO. WildOwl never faced a military divide, a congress that cared. He never faced the most challenge things a President can face - the kind of things that force 3AM emergency phone calls. He also was gifted a great opportunity - the resource war. Until Tyler just one month ago, WildOwl was the only President in our country that had a chance to secure our economic future for the rest of the game. Such an opportunity is unheard of, and any past President would salivate over that chance. It truly was hitting the lottery.

But, WildOwl wasn’t just given chance after chance to succeed. Many Presidents had opportunities to do great things, to cement their legacy, and came up short. WildOwl had the leadership skills to take full advantage of his immense luck. During the resource wars, the entire country was behind him. People who normally would be fighting tooth and nail against one another were willing subjects to his every beck and call, knowing that if they listened to him, we would come out on top. And, we did. WO secured our future for years to come due to his insane ability to lead people.

More importantly though, during times of peace when nothing much was happening, WO made things happen in the background. He plugged himself into anything he could, making himself and the eUS a central figure in everything that happened. He led this country to our current state. I hate him for it too, but he really did make the most of both his leadership skills, and the luck cast on him by this game.

There are better Presidents than WildOwl, and the debate of “who is the best CP” is one I wish not to have right now. The point is, WildOwl is a recent representation of the necessary requirements for being a great President. Good job kid. Just remember who gave you your first Cabinet job 😉

I bring up these necessary requirements on being a great CP, as well as WO's success as CP, so that we have a measuring stick for the job our current President Yui has done - so we can see the luck needed to succeed, and what can be done during both times of peace and times of excitement. So now let our dissection of Yui's presidency begin.

First off, let us ask ourselves, was Yui lucky?

Yes. He hasn’t faced an invasion or a PTO; congress has been relatively easy to work with this term; there were external road bumps here and there, but nothing an average president couldn’t handle with a tad bit of effort. In fact, nothing happened this term that could make his presidency go poorly.

Yet, why are so many people so against him being re-elected?

The answer is simple. Yui is no leader. Yui lacks all the necessary requirements needed to be a good leader. He isn’t inspiring; he doesn’t try; he isn’t sure of himself; he doesn’t respond to the needs of his people; he doesn’t put in effort. Quite frankly, from this term it seems like he doesn’t even know how to be a president.

Now now, let’s stop for a second. Those are some big claims, and I’d hate for them to be seen simply as hyperbole. So I will state right now that all my claims will be backed up with hard evidence. If there’s one thing my hit pieces are known for, it’s facts. Just ask the entire We The People party about the facts I hit them with.

Very soon, I will have ample proof of Yui’s inadequacies as a leader, as well as a bullet form list of what my evidence shows. Look for the gold star if you wish to jump straight to the bullet form list.

First though, I’d like to provide some background to all this, because frankly, this seems unlikely. Before his term began, Yui was being lauded as the second coming of Vanek26; before Yui’s term, I was fully in his camp. So, what changed?

Let us first start with campaign season.

In the pre-build up to Yui’s campaign, he and I were great friends. I myself planned on making a presidential run, but with one exception. If Yui ran, I wouldn’t run. Why? Kid deserved it. He was one of the most active, and hardworking people in cabinet. But, for at least a bit, he wasn’t appreciated. I remember talking to Israel in depth about this at the start of Israel's term, as Israel wasn’t sure about Yui. He said Yui seemed great but acted too much like a child. I smirked at this I recall the same thing was said about me, and I turned Israel’s opinion of me around 100%, and assured him that Yui would flip his opinion too. And, I was right. Israel came to rely on Yui that term more than anyone else, include me, Wo, his VP, his CoS, or anyone else. And then in the following term, during the resource war under Tyler, Yui shined. He did crazy hours, coordinated battles, he coordinated COs, and he coordinated people like he was made for it. We secured 19/20 for the resources because Yui was all over that. He deserved to be CP, and having had it stolen from me when I deserved it years ago, I promised Yui I would not let it be taken from him should he want it.

So, next came my WTP hit piece. It went as planned, Oblige cried and freaked out. 10/10 would hit and leave cab-change-for again. What I didn’t expect was how it would effect Yui, especially because he read the article before hand and approved it. He even bought votes for it initially, before cancelling the order. But then Oblige got into his ears, and a very different Yui was before me. Gone was the try-hard, high energy kid I’d known; gone was nose too the grindstone all-star so many people were flocking too. Before me was a child. Scared, uncertain, panicking as the big chair he was about to sit on became ever closer. As I watched him begin to panic, fret, rage, cry, and rage harder, I learned who Yui really was.

Yui is a follower. When he’s given orders, he will shine. But, when it’s him in the chair, when it’s his neck on the line, when the pressure is on him, he crumbles and can’t take it. He falls apart and flails.

I knew then, as even my best friends continued to laud Yui as a generational player, that he would be a disappointment. He wouldn't know how to lead... Yui would not know how to be President.

And in time, others began to see this too. As I will soon show, large parts of Yui’s cabinet have begun doubting and criticizing him, questioning if he is the right person for the job. Before the term, Yui had three people write glowing endorsement articles. Of those three - Israel, Resoula, and Custer - two of them (Israel and Custer) have been incredibly vocal about their disappointment and frustration with Yui’s presidency, and have routinely called him out in PDBs for his lack of effort and total lack of caring for his position. While I’m not privy to Custer’s position on who to vote, Israel is vocally and publicly supporting Derphoof this term. Others in his cabinet could go either way. Only the final tally will show who fell where, but it will almost certainly be a closer election then last term.

I’m very vocal about how I take screenshots of everything - in a game as political as this, you never know when you need to drop something heavy. Jokingly in PDBs this term, I was told I should just drop them some day, as a little Christmas present. So, to all you wondering what happens in PDB, and wondering what I grab screens of, congratulations! Christmas came early.

The following are all screenshots of Yui’s lack of leadership, lack of effort, lack of regard for his position, and culiminates in a plot by Yui to steal 1million CC for the elities, and an eary warning by WildOwl.

Hold up!

Isn’t this like….. A huge no-no?

Yes. This will likely be the end of what little semblance of a political career I’ve been eking out over the past few terms. And, I accept that, because frankly, America needs to know who their president is; America needs to know that Yui has been an extreme disappointment, a failure as a President, and a danger should he be re-elected.

And, before the bandwagoners show up for damage control about “lack of context” all that’s not included here is divorce talk, shoes talk, drug talk, drunk talk, and travel talk. This really is the meat of the term.

Editor's note: due to eRep's resizing, you may need to either zoom in, or open the image in a new tab if your eyes aren't the best. RIP.

Here, future CoS Melissa Rose calls out Yui for his lack of articles.
He never responded to her concern either.

It’s now 12days into the term, only 1 article, but his TV list is lighter!

Half way through the term, finally fires afk CoS.
Should be noted, Dinnyin had a 100% acceptable reason to be afk, which i wont show because it’s none of my business.
Dinnyin also stated 5 days before this that he’d be incredibly inactive due to sudden RL.

Israel officially rescinding his initial claims of “second coming of Vanek.”

Apparently being an awful President is a joke to this Child.

Was gonna write an article… but Doctor Who…

Replacement CoS Orik showing his disdain for Yui’s lack-of-effort.

Showing how little he cares about needing to write more.

His allstar media team betraying him. He did nothing about this btw.

How is Mel going to encourage him next term as CoS when she’s already given up on him?

Yui has routinely said how great Custer is, but has failed in every way imaginable in helping support him.

Custer once more showing his disdain with Yui’s lack of regard towards all Custer has done.

The following four images show how freely Yui is willing to use large amounts of taxpayer money to help the elites.

End of embezzlement screenshots.

First time all term upper-leadership expressed their thanks for all Custer has done.

Ilene perfectly describing how little Yui and his team cared for the concerns and questions of their ground workers.

And finally, a warning from WildOwl:

So, let’s recap:
-Yui didn’t write articles
-Yui cried and moaned when called out on it
-Yui ignored pleas for help from his cabinet
-Yui was willing to spend a million CC to help Oblige get a fancy tank decal, all while behind the back of both congress and the American popullace
-Yui completely botched the Russian situation
-Yui decided to marathon TVs show instead of doing work as President
-Yui waited over half the term before he even tried to put in work
-Yui waited until 3/4s of the term were over before doing visible work, aka saving face

Now, I want you all to stop and think for a moment. Re-read all the screenshots I’ve shown you. Consider the posts you yourself have seen by Yui, the low-effort articles he’s put out, the lack of articles he put out until election season came along. Think about how little effort he’s put in, the lack of care for his position he’s shown, and how easily he valued elites over the people and the country.

Now, think about how serious next month’s going to be if WildOwl - one of the best CP’s we’ve had, our leader in both name and important, the person we turn to when things go wrong - is saying next month is going to be crucial.

If next month is going to be as crucial to our future success, do we want a child who cares so little for this country that he put in no effort this whole month to lead us? Do we want a child who cared so little about his cabinet that he never helped to answer their questions to lead us? Do we want a child who was so willing to blow a million CC simply to get our elites the manticore to lead us?

No. We can’t afford to have a child leading us again, not next month, not never. We need a leader. We need someone who actually cares.

Instead, we need Derphoof.

Derphoof is, without a doubt, the Leader America will need in this crucial term. He has a plan which he has shown in numerous articles this term. He has assembled a crack team of people to help execute his plan.

Derphoof has the experience required to be President; having been a successful president in Canada, as well as having done several terms of state work here in the eUS, he is ready for the pressure the Presidency brings, and won’t crumble like Yui did.

Derphoof will succeed in all ways Yui has failed us - and despite what the loud minority claim, Yui has failed us. The only people still publicly supporting him have a vested interest in doing so, but as my screencaps have shown, even those people are privately done with Yui.

And we too must be done with Yui.

Let’s put the child to bed, and elect a leader this term.

Elect Derphoof.

Thank you for sticking with me through this, and thank you for voting Derphoof in both your primaries, and in-game on Wednesday the 5th.
