June 5th - 10 Years Since President Reagan Passed Away

Day 2,390, 11:00 Published in USA USA by Ronald Gipper Reagan

I neglected to post something about this yesterday, and I wanted to make sure I did. June 5th somberly marked a full decade since "The Gipper" himself, President Ronald Reagan passed away. He was one of those rare once in a generation leaders who fundamentally changed the world. Nowadays there are a lot of politicians who pretend to worship him, when in fact they are a disgrace and are nothing like him. President Reagan was unafraid to speak his mind and stand up for what he knew was right. His Presidency gave real hope and change to the USA and to the world.

It was a time where there was hope that our country and the world could still have a brighter future. Nowadays, I do not think that is the direction we are heading in. President Reagan stood up to the evil Soviet Empire and helped bring it to its knees. Unlike the buffoons in power nowadays, he grew the deficit because he knew we could spend the USSR in to extinction while now it is bloated simply for unnecessary government waste. He was also a staunch believer in traditional values and spoke out strongly against the mass murder of unborn children in our once free and just country. If the world had more Reagan's and less Obama's, it would be a better place.

He is one of my personal heroes because it is so rare to have such a strong leader who when he spoke you believed he genuinely meant every word of it. We need more men of strong conviction and unwavering leadership in today's world. Like every man and every leader in history, he wasn't perfect, but I can't think of any other person who I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when he died. That is how much his memory and his legacy means to me. I only hope that one day I can live up to even a fraction of it.
