As some of you may have read, at least i hope you have. Mr. seemore wrote a pretty interesting article. The main premise of whihc was to suggest to the older players or those who no longer want to lay in general to send our gold to some government building where it will stay to help the newbs in the future. And while the idea is good on its face im sure it will most likely be an EPIC failure if we try to do it.
Why you may ask? Why wouldn't players choose to do this? well the answer it quite simple. THE MONEY! its a well known fact that the players who have a surplus of gold have most likely bought it with RL cash.

therefore to alot of people this "virtual" gold has real life value to them, they may not be able to trade it in at a Walmart but if they just give it away than all that money goes along with it. and nobody wants to believe that the money they spent went to waste, they are more likely to want to keep it in the account in case they DO decide to come back. That way they wouldn't start off with nothing

Now you may say "they are able to get a percentage back if they return" come on now laugh along with me. Seemore has been around the block more than once does he really need me to remind him of all he issues that we have had in history with funds being "misplaced" or tanks "vanishing in thin air" and your telling me that if i gave you my gold and came back in 2 years you would still have it to give me? ba ha ha ha
Look don't get me wrong, I am all for helping the new players that is why i volunteered on the Admin team for Australia after realizing there wasn't even 1 person on it. I am more than willing to help whoever asks, but i am not going to write government a blank check and have the go for it. Especially if it involves players i have never even interacted with. (i am not saying that is case now just in general)

To be fair the same idea was mention in 'that other game' where players leaving should leave their money in a sort of 'will' to the vAustralian Government. Also i doubt the likes of Holtz and Scottty will ever do anything other than use their accounts to disrupt eElections for certain parties like the APP as has already been admitted.
timmy is well known with playing in elections before you got here...as for Scottty i couldn't say ....also i wouldn't like it in vAus either 😛 must not have been around when they suggested that.

... and they offered me RL money if I tell to all young eAustralian players to buy gold. Same is I tell to all dying accounts to keep the gold.

Two years of absence is very ling time. Example:
If you are leaving for 6 months you can take back 100%
- 9 months - 85%
- 12 months - 70 %
- 15 months - 60 %
- 18 months - 50%
More than 18 months - you will be supplied only to build again your TG.

I donated 10,000 gold 4 months ago to this fund, i have not received a penny back yet......scam!

for me, I have managed to make a little gold during my time in erep, and I don't buy gold. If I ever decide to quit this game (without it being because this game failed on it's own), then I would happily give my money to an org for new players.
For me, the biggest issue with this is that new players leave at a much faster rate than "old" players. I expect the average life expectancy for a new player would be less than 100 days (probably closer to 30), so it can feel a bit like a waste to hand money over to players who are just going to waste it because they end up leaving. The irony being that if new players aren't supported, then even more of them will leave putting less money in our economy.
The other thing is theoretically, if this fund was to receive enough money, it could become self sustainable, and the earnings which it achieves are used to fund the programs for new players. This would take some management, but certainly could be done. In which case, there would be very little issue with having players take back all their funds in the future, because they would not have been used.
