Romania (Romanian: România, Ukrainian: Румунія, Magyar: Románia, Russian: Румыния Latviešu: Rumānija) is a country located in South-East Central Europe, North of the Balkan Peninsula, on the Lower Danube, within and outside the Carpathian arch, bordering on the Black Sea. Almost all of the Danube Delta is located within its territory. It shares a border with Ukraine to the north, Republic of Moldova to the east, Hungary and Serbia to the west, Bulgaria to the south.
Romania consists of 9 regions-Banat,Bucovina,Crisana,Dobrogea, Maramures,Moldova,Oltenia,Transylvania and the capital Muntenia
The population of Romania is currently stagnating. Naturally, the biggest region is the capital region Muntenia with over 4000 citizens, followed by Transilvania and Moldova with over 2000 citizens. Other important regions are Banat, Dobrogea and Oltenia each with a population number around 1000 citizens. As of March 13, 2010 there are 12965 Romanian citizens in Romania. The largest ethnic minorities are Bulgarians, Hungarians and Ukrainians. Also a high number of citizens from Republic of Moldova are always present in Romania and vice versa. Approximately 3500 Romanian citizens are currently working or fighting in other countries. The most popular destinations are Serbia, Bulgaria, Spain and Greece.
