Interview with East Mids. Congress Candidates - Nov. 09

Day 734, 11:37 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by ePocalypse

My fellow East Midlanders. It’s been a pleasure to serve you in congress this last month.

Unfortunately I’m not running this month as I shall not be around for the whole term (holiday) and I firmly believe it is a position that requires daily activity. So instead, I’ve decided to interview the official candidates that will be running in our region. This should enable you to compare each candidate and help you to decide which one you would like to vote for. Thanks for the opportunity this month and I hope to represent you again at some point in the future.

The candidates and parties are as follows:
Representing TUP – Lord Weiis & Asher Di Immortales
Representing RFA – GGRyan
Representing PCP – Johnobrow Dadds
Representing UKRP – BombadierBeetle
At the time of writing the BEP do not have any candidates for this region.

So without further delay, we’ll kick off with the first question.

1. What can you do to improve the East Midlands for its residents?

Lord Weiis – I will revitalize the EM Council and implement gifting schemes.

Asher Di Immortales – I would begin by donating the 5 gold from my Congress medal to the East Midlands Council, then I intend to use my experience from the MoHA to launch competitions in the East Midlands regional forum. I also intend to keep in contact with residents from the East Midlands and should the need arise (for example, through invasion) I would do all in my power to protect the East Midlands.

GGRyan – Simply put, I'll keep doing what I'm doing. I've helped setup the EM IRC, helped run the EM Council and I'm one of the only real EM'ers on there.

Johnobrow Dadds – I can bring an impressive record and level of experience. I've had 5 previous terms in congress, 4 for Scotland and 1 for East Midlands. I'm a man of principles who has demonstrated that he is not afraid to vote against the crowd in order to uphold certain values and follow my conscience.

BombadierBeetle – I will endeavour to serve the East Midlands working for the council and participating on the forum. I'm happy to offer myself as a mentor in business and the money markets to East Midlands residents.

2. What are your areas of expertise and how do you think this will help you to be a good congressman?

Lord Weiis – Domestic affairs, particularly Work (I’m the Minister of Work). This will help as it has given me the ability to work with newbie’s and experience in newbie schemes.

Asher Di Immortales – I consider myself to be able to write clearly and concisely, getting my message across in an easily understandable manner. This is invaluable when writing media articles to put across information to citizens as well as in organising competitions for residents to take part in. I also have the enthusiasm and will to do whatever is best for the people of the East Midlands.

GGRyan – Can’t say I have a real area of expertise. I enjoy political battles, however I also really enjoy dealing in Foreign Affairs. It does help, having someone to turn to for specific things, and I think I'm up there across the board; cept Economics.

Johnobrow Dadds – One of my main areas of expertise is foreign affairs. The international scene is an uncertain place right now and the coming month is going to be of critical importance as the eUK determines its role in the new world order. I have been and continue to be very busy working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ensuring the best for the eUK. Congress needs internationally minded members now more than ever.

BombadierBeetle – I have a good understanding of the economic and financial issues facing the UK and my participation on those issues in the commons would I think be beneficial to our country.

3. How would you describe your levels of activity and how well informed do you feel you are on issues locally, domestically and internationally?

Lord Weiis – I am very active! Nearly 1,700 posts in 5 months is pretty good...I am also very well informed (mostly because I’m in the cabinet!).

Asher Di Immortales – I am very active, going on IRC and the Forums every day. I have subscribed to most major newspapers and keep myself very well informed on all matters to do with eRepublik, ranging from those concerned with individual regions to those concerned with superalliances.

GGRyan – I am hyper active; too active for my own good. I also feel I am very well informed in all areas; after all, I officially work in all of these areas 🙂

Johnobrow Dadds – I'm probably a little too active for my own good. I like to think I make sure I'm very well informed. I speak to a lot of people not only important guys in the eUK but people from around the world. I've been the PCP delegate in an international organisation of far-left parties for some months now for example.

BombadierBeetle – I am active daily both in-game and on the forum. I'm in the Navy, run a business and trade on the money markets daily. I am very well informed on domestic issues, less so on international because my focus has been on region and country first.

4. Why did you join your current political party and why do you believe they are best served to represent the good people of East Midlands?

Lord Weiis – Well I looked at all the parties and I decided that TUP was the best for me! I am constantly active and am very experienced in government.

Asher Di Immortales – I am in TUP. TUP (The Unity Party) stands for justice, equality and standing up for the underdog. It believes that the eUK will be strongest when United and has proven this through uniting UK-Left. It is currently the biggest and most successful political party, having backed every successful presidential candidate and maintaining a majority in congress for months. I believe that TUP can offer its support to Congressman representing the East Midlands, advising them on matters of state in order to make sure our congressmen always make a well-informed choice. TUP can represent and support the citizens of the East Midlands better than any other party and will always support bills which help the normal, everyday citizen of the eUK.

GGRyan – I joined the RFA because the whole idea fits eRepublik perfectly. We take on board any player, of any opinion because we believe that through debate of our diverse views, we can always come up with the right stance for the right situation.

Johnobrow Dadds – I currently have joint membership in PCP and TAC. I was PP of PCP for two months and now I'm spokesman of The Anarchist Cabal. TAC represents a party interested in serious change, revolution even. One of our major policies is the strengthening of regional councils, our ultimate goal being to make regional councils the main administrative bodies in the eUK. I myself haven't been directly involved in any regional councils, I don't think I'm well suited to it, but I certainly realise their importance. One thing I want and have been arguing for is more funding from the national government.

BombadierBeetle – I joined the UKRP because it reflected my views on economic and domestic matters - encouraging private enterprise and as free a market as eRep allows. Being a member of the UKRP is currently a total blast, I'd not been so interested in politics before but our recent upheavals have been jolly good fun!

5. What experience do you have in government positions or the armed forces and how do you feel this will make you a better congressman?

Lord Weiis – I’ve been in 15 apprentice positions, 4 uM positions, 2 Ministerial positions, and 4 ambassadorships (all of the above were in the MoT, MoHa, MoFA and Mow)! I rose to lieutenant in the Royal Guard.

Asher Di Immortales – I am an apprentice in the MoHA, an apprentice in MoT, a Royal Marine and a Military Recruitment Officer. I would use my experience in organising competitions to organise fun events in the East Midlands Regional Forum for the enjoyment of all East Midlands citizens. My experience in the MoT has given me a good grounding in eRepublik economics and I believe I would be able to make sound decisions in Congress. Being a Royal Marine I have travelled the eWorld fighting in wars to represent the eUK and I believe I have a firm understanding of the relationship between politics and the Military and I also understand the workings of the Military itself. Being a Military Recruitment Officer I understand the value and need for new recruits to the Military and have worked hard to recruit new players.

GGRyan – I have very good experience in both of those entities. I have been a RN Captain and been Underminister in three different ministries, along with other jobs in other ministries. I am consistently trusted with important jobs and I think that this proves to everyone that I will work hard if given the chance.

Johnobrow Dadds – I haven't had much to do with the military. I was briefly a corporal in the Royal Guards. As for government experience, I've worked in the MoFA as an ambassador, Chief Envoy as well as other jobs.

BombadierBeetle – I am the Director of the Reserve Bank, an Under-Minister post to the Minister of Finance. I have worked for the treasury for about 6 weeks and this has given me a good insight into the money matters concerning our government and our country. I am a working Navy man so I fully appreciate the fine work of our armed forces hierarchy and I can appreciate some of the factors involved in it.

6. How do you feel about the theft (valued at approx. 600 Gold) by Widdows9000 from our Special Forces?

Lord Weiis – I think it was despicable and Widds should be perma banned!!

Asher Di Immortales – It is a disgrace. No officer in the Royal Navy would dream of doing such a thing, for whatever reason. His actions have tarred the reputation of the Military and this saddens me greatly.

GGRyan – Widdows is shameful. I too believe we need a war, however you have to do things the right way, by pushing it through fairly. I immediately set about creating legislation and draft contracts to try to ensure this will never happen again.

Johnobrow Dadds – Naturally as an anarchist I believe the concerns of the individual are all important. I recognise that people have grievances and are frustrated about our foreign policy, but the truth is this government has been doing a very good job at making the best of a difficult situation. To act as Widds did was irresponsible and not the actions of a rational person. You have a democratic responsibility to express your opinions, but this theft was uncalled for and ill thought out.

BombadierBeetle – I'm pro-war but I'm anti-theft. There was no justification for this, it was theft pure and simple. He and the other people benefitting from this crime should be held in contempt.

7. Do you think that eUK should go to war? If so, who with and are we ready?

Lord Weiis – Yes. In the current climate it is unavoidable. Whether it is us who declare war or them, who knows...as for whom they are...EDEN most likely! Are we ready? TUP are!

Asher Di Immortales – We are currently unprepared. Before we go to war we need a reorganised military and a sound campaign strategy. Giving in to the demands of blackmailers who steal Military companies is not the way to do it and I fully stand by the Prime Minister's decision.

GGRyan – War is needed. My personal choice would either be Sweden, or maybe the USA. The reason for either is because simply, I don’t think the USA would smack us back. Sweden, on the other hand, could be a long, drawn out war and really boost activity in the eUK.

Johnobrow Dadds – Of course the eUK should go to war, but only the right wars should be fought. A pointless war, contrary to popular belief, isn't very entertaining. Stay patient, don't rob the MoD and everything will work out. The government wants war too you know.

BombadierBeetle – Yes. Anyone will do: Sweden, Norway, USA is my order of preference but more importantly let's get to it, if we wait until we're ready we'll all have died of boredom. Rawr!

8. Is there anything else you’d like to add? Any other reason why people should vote for you?

Lord Weiis – I realize I am not EM born and bred, but I have a great love for this country and you can’t go wrong with experience!!!

Asher Di Immortales – I believe I have the people of the East Midlands' best interests at heart and that I have the experience needed to do what's best for them. All I need is for them to give me the opportunity to represent them in Congress.

GGRyan – If you want bravery to do something, put me in. I was the one to challenge the political elite, I was the one to risk a ban for justice of a group of Hungarians and put simply, I have what the eUK need; dedication and guts. Hard work is needed, and I’ll put it in. GGRyan; Third Time Lucky!

Johnobrow Dadds – The best reason to vote for me is probably my populist stance on politics. That's why I'd vote for me. That and my all important experience.

BombadierBeetle – People should vote for me because I'm a common sense candidate who brings a wealth of experience in my field of finance and because I'm looking to bring us some Rawr! And all the fun that entails.

I hope this has given you a good overview of each of the candidates and will assist you in making an informed decision on who to vote for. For further information on each candidate – please check their individual manifesto’s listed below:
