Hi Germanball!

Hi Germany, how're you?

Poland has fallen into old habits and launched a Natural Enemy law against you. They're coming back for your regions, as we expected ever since they managed to return to the map. This is not surprising. What I do find surprising is the attitude I encounter from some eGermans I speak to, which is apparently shared by members of your congress and a large portion of your population. This is the notion that, rather than fight your enemies, you should acquiesce in the first instance and hope for some kind of peace deal.

Wie bitte?

Peace treaty- nein danke!

Sharing a border with a country like ePoland must suck. They carved a place for themselves in erepublik as a superpower by launching an incredibly successful babyboom, which exploited the real life feelings of their population for yours. This ingame recreation of a historical rivalry turned into one of the longest occupations in erepublik history, and, since this v1 babyboom, eGermany has been in varying states of ePolish occupation ever since. The length and success of their occupation of eGerman regions means they're trying to take it all back again mere weeks after being wiped themselves. Instead of turning their enormous firepower on the great powers who humiliated them and their allies, they, naturally, go back to what really matters to the ePolish population: their own bonuses.

This return to form has led to a discussion in eGermany over how to respond. Disappointingly, it seems there is considerable support for making a peace deal before the first battle is even opened. I understand that it's lame for you all, being invaded, wiped, re-invaded and re-wiped by the ePoles, but does that mean you should surrender before even the first fight? This doesn't make any sense to me. Poland is a fearsome opponent, but they are no longer the invincible country that they were some months ago. If you fold before the first "fight" button is clicked, you will encourage their arrogant belief that German regions belong to them. They will come back again, again and again to take your country.

But what is the alternative? Err, that's easy. Fight. Buy your weapons, stockpile your energy bars and bazookas and fight. You have allies and you have friends who WILL fight with you, and capitulating at this stage would be a betrayal of them as well as your own country.

Poland is obsessed with keeping your regions, so I freely admit the odds of defeating Poland in direct battles are small -- I don't want to create false hope in eGermany. That said, even if defeat were a dead certainty, to do anything other than go down fighting with everything you have seems like madness to me. If you don't fight at every stage for your country's freedom, what on earth is the point in eGermany? Why play as a German? If you negotiate with your enemies before making war plans with your allies, why are you in an alliance at all?

That's why I spit on a cowardly peace treaty. Join me! If you don't, you will be contributing to this:
