German Apology + Explanation of Our Situation

Day 378, 15:50 Published in Sweden Germany by Bundesministerium des Inneren

Yesterday, Germany posted the threat of embargo against Sweden . Today, following deteriorating relations and a rethought policy, Germany officially retracts that statement. We sincerely apologize for stirring the diplomatic pot in such a way; it was a rash, foolhardy kneejerk reaction to minsunderstood forum posts and law proposals. We also know that it may be difficult to forgive Germany for this insult to Sweden, and Germany understands. We just ask that diplomacy return to normal, ideal conditions and for this hotheaded discourse to end. Our allegations were made on shaky grounds and we sincerely apologize. We do respect Sweden's generosity towards granting our independence.

Let us explain the cause for our protest:

Sweden recently moved several thousand DEM to a holding account, and based on forum posts we believed this DEM was to be used to operate the Q5 defense industry in Germany. Although we may be misinterpreting, it is our understanding that this company will be exporting systems into Sweden. This would be fine under other circumstances, but it is not ideal for Germany right now and let me explain why. Germany has a bad shortage of workers right now, along with wood. Not only do we have our own Q5 construction companies that need a consistent wood supply, but we are lacking wood as well. What wood there is on the market is expensive and limited. If Sweden is to operate this company in Germany, it would effectively be draining German resources that we desperately need. Germany is not a large nation with an abundance of labor; we may have high unemployment but we have a LOT of jobs that need filled that take precedent over a foreign company, such as lumber.

We hope there can be some solution found that is mutually beneficial, and we hope this explanation can amend some distrust. It's our only hope and wish to be at peaceful relations with Sweden, and yesterday's actions contradict what we truly desire.
