Newspaper articles serve as the main form of mass communication in eRepublik.
With the return of the Top 5, it has become even more important.
Many famous players have gained their fame by publishing good articles.
Achieving Media Mogul is one of the most difficult in the game.
Do you have what it takes to conquer the Media Module?

What do I need to start my own Newspaper?

Once you reach Experience Level 9 (80 Experience points) you can create your own Newspaper.

Go to your profile and under Press Director you will see the option to Create a Newspaper.

It costs 2 Gold to start a Newspaper.

You can change the name or avatar of your paper at any time.

Once you create your newspaper, you can access it from your profile at any time.

Articles will be listed with the most recent first. You can edit or delete articles from this page.

If you click the "Edit newspaper details" button, you will be able to change the newspaper's name, avatar or description.

Your number of subscribers will be listed at the top right. To increase your number of subscribers quickly, you can try offering food or weapons per subscription like this article: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/2011140/1/20

If you reach 1000 subscribers you will accomplish the Media Mogul achievement and receive 5 Gold. The best way to reach the Media Mogul is to publish well-written informative articles on a regular basis. It also helps if your topics are relevant internationally to expand your audience.

How do I write an article?

To write an article, select "Write article" in the top right corner.

You can edit or delete a published article at any time by selecting the appropriate buttons under the green votes icon.

First, you need a Title.
A catchy title can draw many readers to your article; a boring one can make them ignore it.

Write your content in the space provided. You can increase the size of your typing space by grabbing from the bottom right corner of the editor with your mouse and dragging it to size you want.

You can add formatting and images using BBCode or using the toolbar provided.

Click the green checkmark to preview your article.

ALWAYS COPY YOUR CODE BEFORE YOU PUBLISH!
Sometimes eRepublik will not publish correctly and you could lose all your work if you do not copy!
I also recommend using an outside BBCode editor like http://santieditor.nixiweb.com/ and pasting your work when you are ready to publish.

*Note* BBCode to change font size (that previously worked), doesn't work anymore. Some famous BBCode, like Color or Font type, are not implemented on this Media Module.

You can also add the following emoticons to your article if you choose:

Category
Once you have written your article, you will need to choose one of six categories to publish in:

1. First Steps of eRepublik
2. Battle orders
3. Warfare analysis
4. Political debates and analysis
5. Financial business
6. Social interactions and entertainment

Articles in the "First Steps" category stay in the top news for that category for 7 days. This does not apply to the overall top news. All other categories remain in the top news for 2 days.

If you assign your article the wrong category, Moderators may move your article to the correct category. Once you have chosen a Category, you are ready to publish.

Publishing
Review your article one more time and then click "Publish".
The article will be published in the media feed for the country in which you are a citizen.

Comments
Every article allows readers to post comments.
The comments show the avatar, username, date, and message.
The comment poster will also have a possibility to delete his/her comment.
You can use the "Report comments" link to report inappropriate comments.
When you click the link, a report comment link will show up next to every comment. Then just click the link of the comment you would like to report.

Top News

Recently the Top 5 Articles section returned to the home page. Here you will see the most voted articles in the past 2 days for both the country of your citizenship and the country of your residence.

You can select which of the 6 categories you would like to read at the top. The last tab on the right is for your subscriptions.

If you click "More News" at the bottom, you can also choose to browse the latest news, international news, or top news for a different country. Make your selection from the drop-down menus on the top left.
