Day 1411 - Defeat in Asutrias!

Day 1,412, 12:44 Published in USA USA by Israel Stevens

(Editor’s note: I am going to try and start up my daily war reporting again. We’ll see how long it lasts. Hopefully, the sick new graphics that my boy Cleveland Fleman provided me will motivate me. As always, thanks for reading.

Day - 1411

With the United States dominating Spain, and Canada having her way with the UK, and Sweden, there really isn’t much to say, with regards to North America. The region is very stable, with no invasions imminent, nor any battles to be fought. There as always the possibility of Region swaps, in order to procure more resources, however with the ease of Resistance Wars, this is unlikely. The United States and Canada will want to focus the full might of their armies towards the invasions of Europe.

South America, is also largely quiet. The exception being the ongoing occupation of Peru. Many months ago, Peru was used as a proxy by ONE, in order to effectively wipe, and occupy both Brazil and Argentina. It would seems as though the small nation is being made to pay for it’s choice in friends now, however. As Brazil, Argentina and Chile occupy portions of the country, and Brazil declared Peru their Natural Enemy. This means that Peru will likely be wiped tonight, or early tomorrow, as they are down to their last region.

Western Europe has seen an intense amount of action the past few weeks, with the United States and Spain going toe to toe. Just a few days ago, Brazil joined the fray, and quickly moved into the Iberian Peninsular, occupying southern Spain. The Americans controlled the rest of the nation, with the lone exception being Asturias.
Last night, the United States invaded the Spanish Capital, and last remaining region of Asuturias. They jumped out to a quick lead, but as nighttime fell, and their primetime faded, Spain and their allies won all of the overnight battles. Meaning that the United States woke up, in a grave deficit, from which they were not able to recover. Thus, the United States lost the battle, and the initiative. However, they will be back, as the Auctoritas Administration has stated that wiping Spain is their top priority.

Having trouble seeing Spain? It’s that sliver of maroon

To the north, France has recovered much of their original regions, and continues to fight via Resistance War, for the remainder of them. As for Germany, things are not going well, as the nation remains occupied by Poland.
And to the very far north, Canada has invaded Swedish controlled Norway. This appears to be a move to try and gain some freedom for Norway, and to also give Sweden an enemy that is closer matched to them. The Canadian attack is still fresh, although they did lose the first mini battle. Expect the Canadians to win a few rounds tonight, although if it is enough to conquer the whole region, we will see.

Canadian attack on Vestlandet

In Eastern Europe, it is business as usual. Romania and Hungary are tangling, and Croatia and Bulgaria are at war with Serbia. These battles, and to a larger extent, the wars themselves, go back and forth, with both sides holding slight advantages for brief periods of time. Unless something monumentally is occurring here, or there is something of superb interest, I don’t see myself covering this region to thoroughly. I would like to mention however, that I have heard rumors that Croatia is boycotting eRep, and they will not be fighting. The reason behind this, is that with the new Military Unit rewards (Bazooka and Candy Bar) for completing a mission, that ONE stands to gain in excess of 30million damage a day. I’ve reached out to a few of my Croatian contacts, but so far, have not heard anything back. We’ll see.

The Middle East is in an uproar, as Cyprus, Greece and Iran all occupy large portions of the region, while Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are all fighting for their survival. Since the introduction of the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, this region has been mostly a proxy for the larger alliances, as they do battle over the smaller nations, in a quest for more resources. Even though Iran and Cyprus represent opposing alliances, there have been no hostilities between the two nations, even as they share many borders in their join occupation of Saudi Arabia.

This region consists primarily of Russia and China, surrounded by a host of weaker nations. Currently, Russia is battling with Lithuania, Belarus and Turkey. The Russians frequently find themselves being attack by the nations of the ABC alliance.
And to the South, China is relatively quiet, as they watch their neighbors engage in warfare. Japan, South Korea, Taiwan have all been battling back and forth. With South Korea currently being partially occupied by Taiwan, even as the Koreans attack Japan.

The Aussies find themselves in a difficult spot. Just days after seeing the liberation of Western Australia, a region that Indonesia had held for many months, they have been wiped. The wiping of Australia was a two pronged attack by Indonesia, and the Serbian controlled New Zealand. It is now up to the Aussies to utilize Resistance Wars to regain their regions. No small task, considering that Indonesia is much stronger than Australia. Although the Kiwi’s (NZ) are a more suitable match for Australia, they only occupy three of the regions. It is possible that China, and the United States may intervene on the behalf of Australia, although China does not share a border with Indonesia, and would need to maneuver themselves for an attack. Also of note. If the Brazilians complete their wipe of Peru, they would gain a border with New Zealand, and could possibly attack as well.

Overall Analysis
The loss of initiative in Spain for the Americans is crushing. To come so close to wiping Spain, only to fail in the final hours. Terra will have to work doubly hard to make sure that Spain does not maintain their initiative against the United States, other wise, the United States may quickly find they selves fighting in Virginia.
The war between Canada and Sweden is also of interest, and watching that play out should be enjoyable.
