Aramec

Le suilon, mellon. And welcome to today's Press Briefing.

Tonight, as we idled about in the blackened, dust-given halls of our once glorious IRC channels, I happened upon a most curious - and familiar - sound. There, with the gentle pitter-patter of hairy feet which greeted my ears like the smile of a friend, strode HobbitTon. And for that meeting, I have few words to say.

We talked, we laughed a little, and I shared the declining prospects of this already bleak game. A few others joined, and he told of his life, and what he had done in the nearly half a decade since I had seen him. It was a small meeting for small friends, a joyful happenstance that could not have been more welcome.

And when the echoes of our laughs abated and we found ourselves picking at conversations to try and begin, he resigned himself to sleep. And just as soon as he was there, again he was gone. And in the veiling of that sun, I walked in bitter rain.

It was a quiet, forgettable moment. Something that maybe some might care about, maybe some might feel bad for missing. But for me, it was momentous in a very quiet, but profound manner.

I have spent nearly the whole breadth of the last nearly 50 days writing these daily Press Briefings. Some of those pieces aren’t known half of as well as I should like them to be, and less than half of them are liked half as well as they deserve. But, admittedly, there were ones that weren't so good either. Regardless, I have done so with haggard determination at some points, and joyful exuberance at others. It's been a test of what I can do, and I'm proud of having done it, even if nobody else is.

But I am old, friends. I don’t look it, and I certainly don't act it, but I am beginning to feel it in my heart of hearts. A well-preserved player indeed. I feel all thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean: like butter scraped over too much bread. I need a holiday. A very long holiday.

So I'm taking the next two weeks off. From these Press Briefings, from the game. I'm shipping out to Boston, and I'm planning on havin' a good time. I doubt anyone will really miss me much in the interim. It'll be a few days, but you'll grow to the absence. That patch of dirt from whence I sprang will empty, then fill over, and be just another width in the lawn.

But in two weeks, I'll be there again, sprung as spring. Hopefully ready and rearing to write again with a renewed and empowered desire.

Keep well in between, friends. I'll see you in a fortnight.

Today, the cabinet discusse😛
• Tyler Bubblar is not funny.

Today's Random Question for Aramec: Are you going to bring back any souvenirs from Boston? (Joey has a refrigerator magnet collection and would love to have a magnet from Boston... 😉)

Answer: If you give me your mailing address I'll send one to you from there, and I'll make it a good one.
