Arfman for Senate in Victoria

Day 736, 04:48 Published in Australia Australia by Arfman

Hello eVictoria,

(beware, I might randomly bold texts for no apparent reason)

Today I start my first campaign in eVictoria for Senate. To be honest, I did not see this coming last month. I personally thought I'll hold back from participating in politics beyond helping out as a member at party level.

Boy, things have changed in the period of one month. We got WA back (not with our own hands, but with EDEN's actions though some Australians did help out in the RW). We talked about joining the EDEN and Broalliance. And then eIndonesia invaded our allies in Sol, and us. And suddenly we got into an NAP with eIndonesia. Of course things aren't as clearcut as that. It's been a roller coaster ride. What does that mean for us? Don't hold your breath.

(WALL OF TEXT ALERT!)

In the meantime, we've seen what seems like a senate revolt. We've had members of the Senate arguing why they've had little say in the NAP vote. Yet, of the active senators, only 3 voted against it, and a large majority voted for it. Where were the naysayers when they were holding out discussions? Sure, from what I've seen, most of the agreement details weren't out in the open.. but the gist of it was out there.. it almost looked like it would have gone through without any complains. Boy were we wrong.

Suddenly we had two factions on both sides of the NAP. A few have even threatened to leave the country. I'm not sure how many have left, but I'm hoping we didn't lose too many good guys out there. However, the latest news reports have seen most of the PPs finally agreeing to it, and I'm happy to see that. A house, divided against itself, cannot stand if I may quote that.

How to vote

First of all, I'm not going with the usual rhetoric of "please vote for me, I will be a good senator, I promise!" This being my first running for Senate, I can't say I've had a good record as a senator, or I have delivered all your promises, etc.

What I can tell you though, is to vote with your heart. Vote who you feel deserves to be in the Senate. If you're not sure who will represent your interests, then start reading their presentations of the senate candidates in your state and see who comes closes to your personal believes.

Personally though, and I agree with most of the senators running for re-election, I hope you vote for active candidates. Since I've started this game more than 2 months ago, I've seen time and time again, senators who's made election promises, only to disappear after the elections. Apparently, they've taken the 5 gold and ran away, not once, but twice or more! I say, enough to that, and let's try to see if we can get as close to 40 active senators as possible into the Senate. Oh, and no more lulz proposals, please!

I have been an active player on eRep since I've started. With the exception of 2 days or so being MIA throughout my life in eRep, I have made it a point to log in at least once a day, with an average of 1-2 hours a day, but on someday virtually the whole time I'm on the Internet for that day (say 6 hours for that day on eRep?).

I participate in the forums, and chances are, you might see me on the IRC a number of times. Feel free to drop me a line and ask questions. If you don't see me, PM me in game or in the forums and I'll get back to you soon.

About the work I have done on eRep. I am the ambassador to eSingapore and have done that for more than a month. I have also taken the additional task of ambassadorship to eMalaysia, but at the moment I have put that on the backburner due to my recent move in RL to the state of Victoria.

I promise that I will be active, and I do read all of the news in eAustralia and the surrounding regions (it's pretty fun trying to decipher eIndo's cryptic message to at times!). I will not stand for lulz proposals. Yes, it is all in the name of good fun at times. But it's all fun and games until somebody gets impeached!

Personally, if elected Senator, I will see to it that there will be more transparency in our processes except anything that are official State Secrets (those, you gotta wait till the Freedom of Information Act clears such material at a later time for public viewing).

I will also support PaPP and the ADSP's position of having hospitals in all states. Already under the guidance of these parties, we have seen hospitals built in WA and SA. The reasons we want these hospitals up and running is to support high wellness for battle-readiness. We really want to be prepared should war break out. Some have said that we could have sold the hospitals to pay for MPPs but for how long? MPPs aren't getting any cheaper at 100gold each every month. Once we have all the hospitals up and running, we will still have the NAP to protect us at least for the next 5 months until we can properly support the MPPs financially.

I also support the training of new citizens and the maintenance of high wellness in all our citizens. We also need more people and so we need a strong initiative for immigration. We have too many companies running just at minimal capacity, with many more demanding workers. Our companies are paying too much salary just to retain staff. As a result, our goods have become expensive and uncompetitive to foreign imports. To add to our woes, our latest agreement with Indonesia means we have to at least attempt to buy over the companies in WA, thus creating more under-employment. We need more people in Australia!

About my platform

I represent the PaPP in Victoria. For more information about them, you can look it up here. However, I will vote what I feel is best for the country, and I do have my own voice. Do not believe those who said that I am merely a zombie who will vote however my party tells me to.
