An Interview with Myself

Day 1,877, 20:07 Published in USA USA by seeker1

During the past few months, I have interviewed a number of Airborne members. I thought you might be interested in my own answers to the same questions.

I am Lt General seeker1, XO of the Airborne.

Why, out of all the military forces you could have chosen, why did you choose the AB?

I have been playing eRep since March 2009. My initial activities were primarily political, including eight Congressional terms. At the time, Congress people could not leave the country while serving. But military participation was strongly encouraged.

The National Guard was the political branch. It had a division that did not deploy so political people who could not travel abroad could belong. I stayed there for a year or more; I do not remember how long.

Gradually I grew to hate politics--the lack of cooperation; the backstabbing; the lack of belief in anything other than what might allow you to get ahead. So I decided to stop my political participation and devote my time to the military, hoping to find an area of the game where people worked cooperatively and did not try to make life difficult for everyone else.

At the time, the JCS eUS Military was the official government force. There were few militias, and MUs had not been introduced. People whom I respected were Airborne members, so that was where I applied.

How do you like it and why.

I found exactly what I had been looking for. The Airborne was and is an organization with clear goals, which, of course, change over time. Members work cooperatively to reach those goals. Differences of opinion are discussed, but when a decision is made, all help implement it.

It is true that some of this is the result of military discipline--accept the decision or leave. But things are not that stark. Troops who are dissatisfied can easily discuss their opinions with Senior Officers. They may still maintain their opinion and leave. But they do have the ability to make their case.

Also important to me is the fact that members are rewarded for their useful activities.

I also love the closeness of our relatively small group. We work together as friends.

What do you hope to accomplish while a member?

My goal has been to do what I can to help the Airborne become the best military institution possible.

I have been rewarded for that, as all members can be.

4. Has anything surprised you about the AB?

Only that it has fit the criteria I mentioned in the first question better than I ever could have imagined.

5. Is there anything else you want to add?

I want to thank the Airborne CO, ChubbZilla and the CJCS, Cyber Witch, for providing the leadership that sets goals and keeps us on track toward reaching them. Thanks also to our Division COs and XOs, Ruthain, Grimstone, Nfin and James Strife, who do much to keep the organization running.. Our PCOs, thezorcane, Mashaka Kulala and Vrpanch are also indispensable.

If you want to become a full member of an active community, travel the eworld and do things many never do in this game, you should honestly start thinking about joining the Airborne. We are a fun and active community protecting the eUnited States of America. Heres a little info on our eUS Military branch and how to join today!
