Current Events
- Quisling president Ramso sells out eSpain to the eUK; steals 5500+ Gold
- Right-wing successor Cabrera and various trolls cause a social stir
- Instability hits the monetary market

Political Climate
eSpain is a core member of the EDEN alliance, counting ePoland and eCroatia amongst her closest allies.

The presidency is currently held by Cabrera, a “right-wing Catholic” player. Having won the presidential elections with his right-wing party, Partido Cabrerista, he is becoming a controversial figure in eSpanish politics, speaking openly of RL themes which cause a stir within the general community.

The political landscape is in some degree of difficulty after traitor president Ramso launched a war with eFrance and conceded several original eSpanish regions to the eUK via MPP, opening many others in the process. Several countries have since signed MPPs as a show of solidarity, dispelling any notions of an opportunistic attack.

Congress is balanced slightly in favour (+3😵 of the Centre-oriented Democracia Plural party, an established entity in eSpanish politics.
The BOI, in second with 27%, is a far-left leaning party which aims to achieve a fair society and secure protection of workers' rights.
Proyecto Fenix is a gathering of technocrat citizens which aim to work outside of any ideology in the pursuit of the common good. Currently they hold 22% of congress.
The PON is a Spanish-founded party which espouses all things Japanese – manga, anime – and has significant membership in the eCountry, holding 10% of congressional seats.
Partido Forocoches is a Center-leaning party which maintains steady membership in congress and the national Top 5.

Economy
Rumours abound of the theft of some 5500 – 5700 Gold from the eSpanish economy by e😜resident and traitor, Ramso. Citizen fear this vast amount of gold will be used against them in the coming weeks; indeed, recent fluctuations on the monetary market cause some to believe a speculative attack is already occurring against the eNation.

eSpain has had one of the most stable currencies within the game, consistently maintaining a rate of 1 Gold = 33.3 ESP / 1 ESP = 0.03 Gold. In the past week, the value of ESP has shifted between 0.021 and 0.027. Needless to say, this is creating a lot of instability in the economy.

eSpain is in possession of one of EDEN's few high iron regions, Asturias. Having lost the high stone regions of Aquitaine and Rhone Alps at the beginning of V2, eSpain is no longer the economical powerhouse it once was, though, it has fared better than many other eNations in this time of global crisis. The country maintains its position as a leading exporter of iron and is making good use of its high oil region in eMexico, which was taken in the immediate days following the loss of the high stone regions in southern eFrance.

The eCountry maintains favourable import taxes, with an exception for iron, which it produces in abundance and so taxes imports at 99% (at many points Asturias has been the highest-grossing region in the eWorld, tax- and production-wise). VAT is taxed between 1 and 7% depending on product, and income taxes are between 7 – 15%, with some increases seen for the stone industry.

The coming weeks will be difficult for eSpain as it struggles with the huge instability in its economy, as well as the by-now regular economical issues facing most other eNations.

Society and Miltary
The President, Cabrera, is seen to have caused some problems in the game by his RL views on certain topics. Many citizens have taken offense to the postings of some members of his party, while ex-President Jesser made good on his threat to report all who made mention of any real-life religion via article or forum post to the Admin.

Other citizens have been successfully spamming – and enjoying – the newspapers of the eUK during recent weeks; indeed, their military has recognised it as a useful tactic and are even offering prizes to the most creative pundit!

The citizens of eSpain, like most others, want a war. In their case, reeling after the overrunning of their nation by eUK forces, they are in the mood for vengeance. Comments on the forums indicate people are happy just to take a bit of eFrench territory, though the Generals have, no doubt, grander plans in mind. An eSpanish occupation of this region would indeed infuriate the eFrench citizens while providing eSpain a path to continue north through eFrance and towards its old stronghold, the high stone region of the Rhone Alps.

The eUK still retains some regions in southern eFrance

eSpain are aware of the possibility of an onslaught against their Central American territories and are securing themselves appropriately. They maintain a steady deployment in the Valley of Mexico, their only high oil region. The primary threat will come from eVenezuela or eBrazil, traveling north through eMexico. eMexico are also in an open war with eSpain and have in recent days declared a "spam war" on their occupiers' national media. Their President is also irritating the eSpanish by daily offering peace treaties for in excess of 600 Gold.

The following days will provide a more complete picture of the path the eSpanish Army and Government intend to take in their reprisals against the eUK and eFrance.
