A Slight Anomaly
Cody Franklin
I just thought that this was interesting.
A Consolation to the American People
This was an article that I wrote yesterday.
The Block and Abraham Lincoln
This was an article written today by David Landon.
Landon's article contains some of the same messages as mine, uses Lincoln like mine, and even uses the "house divided" quote.
No, I'm not making accusations, but I find it absolutely weird that his article is so similar to mine, and it written only a day after mine.
My real question is this: I've got over 100 subscribers, whereas he has approximately 30. My article has 25 votes, 5 comments. His article has 57 votes, 26 comments. This happens a lot. A lot of newer papers seem to have a higher rate of success than my own, and I can't help but wonder why. Do people have an aversion to my writing style or something? Are they too ADD to read the whole thing? I may be complaining here, but... really? I'm just very mystified by this whole thing. I was hoping for some answers, too.
Alright, rant over.

Harlot shouted his.
I wonder the same. You got a great writing style. It's very professional even. But I think that's why some people my not be receptive to it. I mean, who plays this game? No offense to other players, but notice that people like Flufferton have a huge amount of subscribers. I think people may want more fun and less professional/proper tone papers. Either way, I for one like reading your articles.
I think it was the Lincoln with sunglasses and mohawk. Believe it or not, I think that one little bit is what makes you successful in the US media. 😑.
That's one of the things that I'm absolutely afraid of. No offense to mainstream writers, but I don't want to "dumb myself down" and start putting absolutely silly things into my paper. I do pictures every once in a while, but it's never anything like Lincoln with sunglasses and a mohawk.
When I started writing this paper, I didn't care too much about the number of subscribers/votes that I had. It was simply exciting to publish myself; now, however, I find it troubling that, beyond a small following, I don't exactly have the crowd of subscribers that I had been hoping for. It's just a disappointment when you put your time into writing something that you feel is important, only to see someone else downgrade it a bit, slap a funny picture on it, and achieve far more success. I like intellectual writing, but it would seem that other people have a freakish aversion to it. What does that say about some of the people who play this game? No offense to anyone, of course.
I've found the timing of when you post an article makes a huge difference. Sometimes people will publish a lot of useless crap right after an article and push it off the newest list in a few minutes. Other times the articles can sit in the newest five for a few hours.
Please keep writing eloquently! Intelligent analysis is always welcome!
Absolutely never consider watering down your style! I discovered your paper a long ago, and I enjoyed it, no matter how we are on different sides. Quality is a value, no matter that the majority of young eRepublik players like the tabloid style.
Quicksilver
I wrote the article in question.
I obviously cannot prove anything. However, I really strongly need to emphasize that I did not see your article before writing mine. I think we're similar people who had a similar reaction to the same situation.
I apologize for the way it all came out. If I had read your article, I wouldn't have published mine. However, I hadn't, so I published it.
My article got the attention it did because, as mentioned earlier, Harlot shouted it.
As far as the image goes, I wanted to find something funny to put up there, because I was trying to put the reader in a lighthearted mood when reading the article. I wasn't intending to dumb myself down by doing it, nor did I do it to gain readers or votes simply from a funny picture.
We have a lot in common, we posted two similar articles. I got lucky and got mine shouted by a veteran player, which in turn gave me the attention I received.
I honestly don't know what else to say. You're a good writer, your paper is good. Keep writing! The Erepublik world needs more voices like yours.
Keep up the good work Cody.
Cody - Your a good writer. One I don't frequently troll (Maybe because your eAmerican..oh well)
No worries, David. As I explained earlier, I wasn't making any accusations. I was merely curious as to the unknown origins of the aforementioned phenomenon. I don't harbor any ill will or hard feelings towards you, and I apologize if it came off that way.
