A Look Back At My Near Three Years On Erep

Recent "resignations" from two players I have respected for a long time, Horice Fossil and James Scarlet, have made me ponder about my future in Erepublik and my past. I haven't fought in 5 months, and even then it was only so I could join a Military Unit. I haven't worked in even longer. I sold my 28 gold on the market a month ago for 0.01 GBP each, and currently have a nice 3 GBP left in the bank. Frankly, the game mechanics bore me. Even the politics scene has descended into an eternal circle of sameness. Frankly, the only people keeping me here are the people that play the game, but even now they desert the game.

When I joined in the summer of 2011, aged a paltry 14 years old, there was the same hatred of the admins as exists now. But then the game was exciting. You felt like you could actually do something to change the system. The long-dead rivalry between TUP and UKRP was still thriving, although I never joined either party. The first person I really met in the game, and I never talked with him, was my then employer Sven Goran Duran-Duran. I never joined a Military Unit then either. The whole system was rather confusing to me.

The first people I made friends with in the game were the members of APD, later, with my help, to morph into the UKDP. If I remember correctly, there are seven people who stick in my mind from that period, and of them five are still alive. Dante Simly lead the transition and was a great influence, although he later went AWOL, a great loss to the scene. Elvis Trout helped me get elected in September 2011 under his party leadership. Joshua Whelan, or Prince Sheogarth as he is now known, was vital in the transition, and I would later follow his Kurt Cobain avatar to Australia for a brief period.

Also present was Benni Hill, Kapten Johnson, adambertil and Tyler Mckinlen, later Mr. Katze. I was party president of UKDP in the month of October, and royally screwed it up. By the following January, the party went tits up with the arrival of UKPP.

At the time, I, and I believe a few others in the UKDP, were frankly angry and disgusted with UKPP. How niave I was. I thought they were horrible, effectively having two TUPs in the top 5 rather than another party adding its views. I will admit, I trolled them a few times. I once pretended to be a Call of Duty Noob on their IRC Channel looking for the UK Clan UKPP's channel.

The rise of New Era made me realise how innocent UKPP really was. It wasn't abhorrent. It wasn't anywhere near as bitter what New Era in its prime was. I would like to apologise to some of the members, if they are still around, to some of my behaviour then. It wasn't fair.

Around that time I also took to trolling the Irish in a few articles. I'm not sorry about that. It was hilarious. You didn't just take the bait. You took the bucket. That was when the Canadians and Irish launched and were successful in their attack on London, back when it was a 'fortress'. Its funny looking back then. My writing was terrible, but it had a simplicity to it. It looked like it was transforming into what the SCANDALOUS would eventually be. A complete and utter mess.

Following the demise of UKDP, I was almost coerced into defecting to Ireland to from a Scottish party with Mike Bane. Deciding that that would be a bad move, I joined the only other party which appealed to me as having a sort of friendly community, and that was ESO.

That Easter I got my first senior Government position, under the control of Talon Karrde's presidency, operating as an uMoHa. I oversaw the Red Versus Blue game, which would later be hijacked and JamesW put on the throne. That was a horrible decision, one which I played no part in. Later that year I would also become MoHa with none other than BigAnt, who then seemed like a reasonable guy. That was before his New Era defection.

Around that time I also started to try and do satire in my newspaper. It was almost all aimed at Alfagrem. I have no regrets. I still dislike you. I still also dislike Ajay bruno. Who doesn't. Around that time I also created Kevin the ESO Trivia Goat, and was made and resigned as MoHA from Jamesw cabinet.

Following my resignation, I joined the Real Spamicans, because frankly I had nothing better to do. I put my unconsiderable backing behind CaptainChazbeard in all of his election attempts. if only he had been elected. Our country would have been a much greater place. I would like to thank Invalidation, Horice, ChazBeard, Baldrick and mwcerberus for the time at TRS. Mwcerberus's PTO of UKPP was especially hilarious. Bravo.

I would later become the shortest lived admin ever on the eUK forums, lasting a whole day, the eUK Poet Laureate, and my personal proudest achievement, which was gaining 43 votes in the presidential elections. Also, I've posted over 500 times on the Last Post Wins board of the forums. Give me the title already.
