Interview With Digits

Day 684, 13:27 Published in Ireland Ireland by LordoIrish
1. So Digits how did you find eRepublik
Funnily enough, I was interested in finding social-political games. I tried Cybernation’s and a few more, but they didn’t appeal. I was on Miniclip, saw the eRepublik ad, and found what I was looking for without even trying.
-
2. What made you join eIreland?
I'm real-life Irish. It was, and will never be, anywhere else.
-
3. What kept you playing the game?
Interestingly enough, I liked, and still like, the game mechanics. As a new citizen, I was challenged to keep my wellness up, and building experience and skill levels. I was itching to get to 100 wellness. This was before the time of training wars, so getting to 100 was a long slog. After a while, I began reading the top news, then I began reading all the news, then I began to comment on the news, and before I knew it, I was too involved!
-
4. What made you pick such a name?
At the time, I didn't realise you couldn't change your username. Unfortunately, I used my student number I had in college. Fortunately, Kolshire came up with an appropriate nickname for me, otherwise I'd be doomed!
-
5. How did you become involved in Politics?
I was born at the end of February, so the March elections came too soon for me to notice. The first political event I can remember getting involved in was the April election between Top Gun and Igor Thunderbrow. It was, to put it lightly, a keenly-fought contest. I remember thinking long and hard about my vote, commenting on articles, and weighing up both candidates. As soon as you begin doing that, then you are involved in with politics. At the time, I joined the IUP, and before long, I was too involved for my own good. My first run for Congress in May sticks out in the memory, as I wrote a good manifesto and didn’t get elected, but a guy called Donovan Tynan copied my manifesto word for word, and got elected in another region. By that stage, I was already hooked.

6. What is the One Globe Project?

A very good question. A couple of people here have an idea of what it is about. It's a RL project as well as an eRepublik project. It's a project I put a lot of work into privately, and then put to one side. Maybe sometime, months in the future, I'll get back to it. Until then though, I'll refrain from elaborating on the subject.

7. How do you think the eIrish economy is doing and do you have any concerns?
It was an extremely delicate situation when I came into the role of Finance Minister. The treasury had been robbed and returned, then robbed again, and the previous Minister for Finance had made many errors, which we are still correcting. There were no figures, no overall plan, and no accountability. This meant starting from scratch. A series of articles analysing the economy are about to be released, as I have spent a whole month building up a picture of the economy. My honest answer is that there are a lot of things which can and need to be improved, and they aren’t all just related to the finance department. Issues include lack of working capital, and capital for expansion, low wellness, a shortage of skilled and unskilled workers, the IEP/Gold ratio, lack of availability or knowledge for companies on how to source cheap raw materials, the meagreness of tax revenue, and the list goes on. This month has been about steadying the ship, and building up a framework for the future of the economy. Much work remains to be done however.
-
8. Who do you believe will win the presidential elections?
Two of my colleagues who I work closely with are running, and it would be unfair for me to pick a winner. Let's hope for a less controversial election than the last couple!
-
9. What does Independent Voices stand for and what are they trying to achieve
I could elaborate on this for hours. And I'm sure others have their own opinions. It undoubtedly means something different to everyone. What I had hoped for it to be about can be found in the articles I made when I founded it:

10. Would you like to add anything???
I'm sure there is plenty I could, but I say too much already.
