The PEACE debate
stancel
Austria is a founding member of PEACE. There are a number of us who oppose PEACE, and I did too (I still am skeptical of the alliance). Though, I didn't want that to define me, so I never joined the OIP.
An overhaul of the PEACE system would restore its credibility, and what appears to have been its original purpose. If we can accelerate the return of occupied regions, we will not come off as imperialistic warlords. Certainly, it's apparent that Indonesia and Hungary control much of the occupied regions. That has to change. These countries must be allowed to become sovereign again. That includes Switzerland, our neighbor.
Austria has done right to protect a position of neutrality. I don't want us to anger or provoke our neighbors, especially Hungary. Regardless, we should strive for a consensus to be reached between pro-PEACE and anti-PEACE/pro-EDEN elements. Let's not let that issue make us enemies.
Too many think the interests of Austria begin and end with the PEACE issue. If we stay in PEACE, let us increase our presence and voice to bring reform. If we leave PEACE, let us seek more allies to protect us. Our ultimate goal together should be strengthening the welfare and security of Austria.

Noble goal, but I wonder if the status quo even CAN change even if the majority want it to? Voted.
STRONG GOVERNMENT SUCKS btw ... 😑
@Wilhelm: You suck, by the way.
FU foreigners!
The ÖIP isn't Anti-PEACE/Pro-Eden. It was formed by Austrians who generally agree with PEACE's initial mission of pursuing peace and being a defensive alliance, but believe that the alliance has taken an imperialist turn. Leaving the alliance isn't on the parties agenda, but abstaining from the imperialist things it does, while attempting to reform it, is on the agenda.
I think anti-imperialist would be a better label for the ÖIP, considering it opposes imperialism no matter who is doing it. And I think this is what you are looking for in your post, too.
stfu wilhelm THE STRONG GOVERNMANT RULES 😃😃😃:😃
If your austrian, why you not speak that language?
The APD party in germany will attack the world. With his expansion plans they wants first attack Austria and Switzerland and then the rest of the world. Read more about the crazy plan of the party president KingRobertBaratheon in the party programm (part 5 military): http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/vorl-ufiges-programm-der-apd-936779/1/20" target="_blank">http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/vorl[..]/1/20
He'd have to actually win the country Presidency in Germany to do anything which I doubt he could do. The last time Germany was aggressive they got stomped by Sweden and Poland, I don't think they will go that route again anytime soon. Not only that but our government is on good relations with the current German government.
We should gather the remnants of old alliances and charter a new treaty. Something that would gain us support and possibly bring at least a brief peace to the world state of affairs.
Echoing Rangeley's comment above, I think you have mis-characterized the OIP's viewpoint. You sai😛
"If we stay in PEACE, let us increase our presence and voice to bring reform. If we leave PEACE, let us seek more allies to protect us. Our ultimate goal together should be strengthening the welfare and security of Austria."
Most of the members of the OIP would agree with you. We are on the same side of the argument. No need to be polarized.
Well said, voted and subscribed.
