The Old Man: A Run for Senate

Day 577, 01:00 Published in Australia Australia by Mouj

I've done it before. Five times before, to be exact. Or maybe it was six... I think five. Any way, I, Colonel/Comrade/Senator Mouj, am hereby running for Senate. I, "el viejo" of the non-Cabinet Senators, am running again for the sixth time in my home state of Victoria. But this time, as an ACP again, hoping to be "un senador comunista" again.

Let me run you through "mi historia". I was born on the 31st October 2008 in California, USA, since Australia was under occupation by Indonesia. I had no idea about the underground movement and became a member of the US Army and agriculture worker. Long story short, I moved to Victoria to help free it during the resistance war and then became a member of Australia. In that first month I was there, I became a Senator and since then, except for one month, I've been Senator the whole time, five terms, to be exact. During that time, I've also been Minister of Culture (two terms) and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (one term) as well as the co-inventor, but the main ideas man, behind the eMentor project. So, if you're currently being mentored by eMentor, it's all thanks to me! I also helped form the ACP and now I'm the oldest current member of the party. I'm also probably the only non-Cabinet/former Prime Minister Senator. Which seems pretty strange, but is it a bad thing?

Now, mi política? My policy is as follows:

Economy: Well, I'm a communist. What did you expect first? Culture? My basic plan for the economy is to get up to its place amongst the economic powerhouses. We're already along that part; Australia is the producer of the eWorld's finest Q5 products, and at the cheapest prices, too. What we need to do this is keep the market under watch, create some kind of watchdog policy to make sure it isn't highjacked by foreign investors eg. Portuguese. If possible, we also need to create more government-run companies, not training companies, but full-fledged companies so the government can either make money or, preferably, provide its worker and/or citizens with those products cheaply or even for free. This probably won't happen, but if you vote for ACP...
I also think that we have enough money to jack up some budgets a bit. It's not like we're short on money!

Foreign Affairs: Foreign Affairs is a slightly difficult one. Due to our only border being Indonesia, we are kind of cut off from the current world turmoil. We need to have more contact with the outside world. I'm talking a full-on embassy organiser to make sure that all important countries, traditional allies and regional nations have contact with us. Ambassadors from us to them. This will also turn out more Ministers and Deputy Ministers for the Department if they're ever needed.

Defence: Military-wise, I think that we need to strengthen the old - but strengthen the young even more! Give the lower level, ACAR-type people more weapons and more power! Even if it means we have to stretch the budget. Low-level people can't afford weapons like we can. I can almost afford four Q1 weapons a day, but that's only because I get around 20-something AUD a day, and I also get one from the Department of Defence! Lower-level people get enough for about one Q1 weapon a day, but get none from the DoD! We need to give them a little, maybe just one a day, but we need to give them something.

Culture: eMentor is going on perfectly fine, apparently, but there's still a little more that the Department of Culture needs to get going. Namely the wiki. The wiki just isn't up to date, and the Department of Culture needs to get the a wiki committee going and get regular editors to do the country page and update it every election. This will also, maybe, increase activity.

So, that's basically all I've got. Please, don't just vote Mouj on the 25th. If I'm already way ahead, vote for someone else. If you join the ACP forums, on the Australian forums (forum.auserepublik.com), you'll be able to join the Voting Squad and you'll be supplied with two moving tickets if you need to vote in another state. We want to get as many people as possible into the Senate, so don't just vote for the top candidate. Still, vote Mouj on the 25th anyway!

Vote Mouj in Victoria!
Vote ACP in Australia!
Adios,
Comrade Mouj
Senator and Candidate for Victoria
