Ollie Chase For Congress In Victoria

Day 574, 02:33 Published in Australia Australia by Ollie Chase

It's probably too early to be writing this, just like last term I ran, but last term I made the mistake of standing on the sides when the election came round, I didn't make myself known.
So, I apologise if I've done this too far in advance but to prevent a repeat of my failure to become elected like last term I'll be leaving it up regardless.

I've been around for a while and dropped in and out here and there but I've seen the workings of our Country. I've seen what people want, why they can disagree even when they seem to have the same priorities and why people seem to have gone eInsane.
I've seen a lot in my time and while I'm not a beta Veteran, I was here the day Beta ended and V1 came around. So, I'm not one of the Vet's and I did go inactive for around 3 months but I know what's going on in most places.

I'm going for congress so that I have a voice and can actually aim to make a difference in eAustralia, the nation we've all come to call home but ironically, one of the key things I want to see achieved isn't just transparency from the Government to the people, but I want to see the people contributing. I want to see people have a voice without needing to be a government official. It could be a hard goal to achieve as only a congress member but I will do what I can see to have it happen.

As a hopeful for congress I can imagine you want to know what my aims are. Well, clearly I aim to achieve transparency and in the past I have often shown a want to ensure independance from Indonesia. As I've already discussed my views on transparency, I'll talk brielfy about how I feel we as a nation should work towards when it comes to Indonesia. Once again, I'll remind you that as a congress member my ability to bring such things into effect would be limited.
When it comes to our relations with Indonesia, I feel that the current relations with Indonesia are stable and needn't be altered however I feel that this constant opinion that we need not care much for homeland defense because of Indonesia being one of the worlds biggest walls is narrow minded. I feel that if we began building defence systems and such it might bring distrust from Indonesia since they would see the same view of many, they are the biggest wall in the world and our only neighbour, why would we need defend ourselves, if not against them?
While true that they are one mammoth of a wall I feel that we can't rely solely upon them if we wish to be independant. A defense system improves the wall of a state but alas, not the damage we actually do. I feel though it would be a milestone in our gradual rise in the eWorld and with proper cooperation with Indonesia we could build a defense system in our key state, New South Wales without any hiccups. We've seen hospitals rise up and we've seen there benefits. While we would still stand with a long time before we would have to put a defense system to use, I feel that it would be a milestone worth having.

Also, I want to help improve our economic balance in our market and ensure fair prices but without demanding pure government intervention and by keeping competition going on.
Also, I'd like to see a reduction in imports. We all know that companies in Australia import iron and oil which obviously takes our money to oversea markets and out of our own. I'm going ot refer to an old article that was written by Juan Tumad a while ago, "Exports Good, Imports Baaaad!" Said the sheep.
We don't have high oil yet, or high iron and it's likely that we never will what with our current states only bearing medium oil and iron, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't let market prosper in these materials. Of course, without high regions we are never going to be able to eliminate imports, that's just a far off dream, but perhaps not so far out is the ideal of exporting?
That's right, exporting. Think about it, we have high grain and high diamond, surely someone wants a piece of these resources?

People might have a look on the forum and find, I don't post much. It's true, I don't, but I make sure to keep an eye on what's going on so that I'm never completely out of the loop. If I was elected into congress you'd find I would become some what more active on the forum when it comes to posting, you'll find that that is my expectation for members of congress anyway.

So, that's it for now. Obviously my mind reaches further out in my bid this congress election and I may not even make it to the final stages of this election, the article is probably being published far to early as well and has some rather far fetched goals, but I'll give you all a piece of advise, don't give up after failing. Failure is just a detour on the way to reaching success.

You may also read my eWiki page (please note that the updates going on with the wiki at the moment mean that party, newspaper and profile links to the wiki are currently down)

You'll also often find me on the IRC channel, which just to refresh peoples memory is-
#ausrep on the rizon network
And for those new to IRC, http://www.mibbit.com/chat works great for a web page IRC provider.
Also, newer players should pop into the #eMentor channel if they need help.

And as some final notes, I'm running under the ADSP in Victoria. This is the second run for congress I've attempted after my first one failed because of what I believe was contributed by two factors;
-Inexperience
-A lack of presentation.

Also, it seems BenP has been rescued from antartica and freed from the penguin opression (I believe ANN wrote that story) and I'd like to welcome him back.
