Newt Gingrich for eAustralian Senate
Newt Gingrich
Citizens of Queensland, eAustralia,
I, Newt Gingrich, have decided to run for Senate in the province of Queensland in the upcoming election for the Australian National Party. Though I have not been a citizen very long of eRepublik or eAustralia I feel as though I can bring a lot to the senate. There are many things I will fight for if elected to the senate:
Economy:
I believe that for an economy to thrive one must have a free market capitalist economy. In a capitalistic society citizens can make themselves out of nothing and become everything. The government should have a very little role in the economy and only step in when necessary.
War:
I feel that war should only be necessary in defense of eAustralia. I would not vote for any war in which eAustralia would be the aggressor. We should limit ourselves in what we get into. Alliances can be a good thing but we should be hesitant when allying ourselves to a country and make sure that they share similar views on war.
Liberty:
I will fight for every citizen of eAustralia, not just of Queensland, to have every liberty and freedom possible. A government that does not fight for its citizens rights is tyrannical.
Food Production:
I plan to work with companies to see that there is every quality food possible for the citizens of eAustralia. That does not mean the government will strong arming businesses, but the food should be affordable for every citizen. Government and business need to both coexist peacefully in order for there to be a strong economy, country and population.
This is what I stand for and I believe that these ideals are ones that could push eAustralia in the right direction. If elected I will do everything I plan to do. If not I will not run again for the Senate. The people of eAustralia need to know that their government will work for them and not the other way around. So, on election day Vote Newt Gingrich for Senate.
Best regards,
Newt Gingrich
ANP Senatorial Candidate

Question time! 😃
You state: "The government should have a very little role in the economy and only step in when necessary."
Question: how do you define "necessary"?

"This is what I stand for and I believe that these ideals are ones that could push eAustralia in the right direction."
I could see how you being a capitalist you'd want to see eAustralia go in the "right" direction 😃

@Derek: I like the comment on the "right direction"; that was not my intention lol. As for what I deem necessary, government should step into the economy when corruption is rampant. If companies, organizations, and citizens involved directly within the economy are abiding by the laws set forth; there is not major foul play; and citizens are not out to knowing corrupt the system I feel government should not get involved.
Another Question: Define "corruption" 😉
@ Derek: Corruption: the abuse of power to seek illegitimate personal gain through actions such as bribery, extortion, cronyism, nepotism, patronage, graft, and embezzlement. In this case it would be either a company, organization or citizen seeking these means against other companies, organizations or citizens.
So you're advocating a Government that leaves the market alone, but stomps on any form of corruption. amirite?

"I will fight for every citizen of eAustralia, not just of Queensland, to have every liberty and freedom possible."
So..... you're either advocating the return of all eAustralian regions (which is happening, albeit, slowly), or you're saying you're going to fight for a ideal that would allow everybody to say/do whatever they want. Doesn't that contradict your stance on corruption?

I totally agree with your stance on War

Could you provide a little more detail on your "affordable food" plan?
How do you propose a government intervenes on corrupt companies?
so a little foul play is allowed but nothing "rampant???
@ Derek: Yes I am advocating that the government leaves the market alone, but no not get involved with every form of corruption. The government cannot get involved with with every little thing. I feel as though there should be some sort of court system that would take these up on case by case basis; look at the facts and make a ruling. As for the advocating for the return of all regions; I am. eAustralia needs to be whole and unified to become strong. Should we not want all of the regions back? I think everyone does. But, as for liberties I feel citizens should have all of the liberties that they want so long as it does not interfere with current law. Also new laws should not be created to take away freedoms. As for your final question about my food plan, what the government should do is make eAustralia into a place that promotes business growth. We should be pushing for businesses to create food here and if businesses here do not want to make it affordable we import and let the eAustralian businesses take a small hit. Yes that would hurt the economy but only in the short run because the businesses would be forced to compete.
@ Pre😛 The government should intervene on corrupt companies by sanctioning them. I know thats not much but from my understanding eAustralia does not have a court system. I feel that there should an amendment added to the constitution to allow the creation of a court of several justices decided upon on the PM and confirmed by the senate. This court would thentake up cases against the business in question and the court should make a decision as to what course of action should be taken.
@ Lews: Again to address your question look to the answer for Pred. I really feel there needs to be court. Without a court how do have justice. Yes there is admin but that only goes so far and they do know the issues that are here locally.
Firstly: How, exactly, would the rulings from a "court system" be enforced in ER? Citizens have NO power to do things, and the Admins have been known to ignore contracts.
Secondly: And how could you be sure the Court System itself is unbiased?
Thirdly: It'd probably help if we had a constitution to begin with 😉
I didn't know there was no constitution for eAustralia. Now that I know there is not I will try and push for one. As for the how the rulings would be enforced I'm not 100% sure. You are right about having little power but by that logic how can the government do anything? They have no real power by that. Finally for it to be unbiased the PM would nominate and there would have to be 67% (2/3rds) approval by the senate. Also the person could be removed from office by the senate with 50%+1 vote. This way the PM would have to win over more support for a candidate or pick a candidate that would approve to most parties. And if they if they were overly biased then they could booted out of office easily so they would know that they would have to do a fair job.
