Another E-Pub Term?

Day 544, 07:34 Published in Australia Australia by Ranger Bob

G'day folks

Following my earlier announcement of my intention to run another term of congress for New South Wales, I would like to give you some ideas on what I stand for this term.

Economy and Welfare

Well it doesn't really need saying given the recent press attention - but it's pretty tough being a new player in eAus at the moment with the Q1 shortage and food affordability issue. While I know my view is different to some who say otherwise, I do believe reasonable intervention by government is not only a good idea, but is needed. I mean, we need new citizens right, and we currently have a pretty good influx of them (up to 20-30 a day).

To keep new players in the game, there are options we can explore. Firstly as also has been stated in the press, there has been this big brou-ha-ha about Centrelink. Perhaps alternatives to buying gifts for citizens is an option, such as food? If Q1 companies won't stand up to bat and help build our player base, then perhaps we should be rediverting Centrelink resources into alternate options that may not immediately bring up a citizens wellness - but may give them the time to reach level 6 without dying or giving up, at which point 5 gold can go a long way to helping them establish.

Society

I've said it before - and I'll say it again. eAustralia is a great community. Sure our GDP doesn't match that of the big players, but what we a small for in economy, we're bloody brilliant at in coming together - the recent QLD RW and celebrations showed that!

As you know I and others like running contests. These aim to hopefully get some gold in the hands of players which can help them both be interested in the game, stay in eAus and of survive. I'd like to see this as a rolling thing - if not supported by government directly, at least indirectly through the newly formed Minister of Information news and other government forums.

Military

I fully support recent investments in our Military. The War Games have had an incredible effect - looking at the average player level now in Australia on the society compared to last month, there has been a tangible leap in the average level of players. This helps with productivity, as well as ensuring we remain strong in our defensive capabilities.

Foreign Affairs

Now on to the alliance issue. We need strong regional alliances - and we HAVE TO acknowledge we have a pretty major player as a neighbour. However, our sovereign right to be neutral should remain respected (as I believe it is) - and we are given the choice to make alliances as we would like. On this point, if it ever DOES come to decision day around a major permanent alliance, be it PEACE or whomever we choose to ally ourselves with - I would prefer a referendum on the matter. If we do come down off the fence eventually I would like all eAustralians to have a say.

I believe the return of regions as presently set is a reasonable timetable. Considering we have maybe 300 active players, we should support the continued growth to ensure we can actually take these regions and support economic growth, not thin it out by spreading these 300 across all areas. I agree the return of regions should support new active players wanting to play - but we CAN'T expect that it would happen overnight. For this reason I support the current policy.

Anyway, hope I've given you all a good idea of what I stand for come this election. I did a lot of good stuff last term I reckon, and hope you will let me support you again for another month. If you don't - great! But just make sure you exercise your right to vote for people that believe in what you do - and believe eAus is a good place worth representing and fighting for.

Over to you eAustralia, and good luck to all going for Congress.
