Moving the Movement Forward

After previously stating my intention to run for the Party Presidency of the Movement for Democratic Unity, here in my manifesto, which has been avaliable to MDU members on the forum for a week.

As founder of the Movement, I remain a committed and active member of the party, its interests are always at the forefront of my mind during my eRepublik life and I would like the chance, once more, to put this motivation to good use.

My History with the Movement
I have served as the Party's President for two terms already, from its conception on 16th October 2008 until 15th December 2008. During this time, the party rose from being the 8th party on the outskirts of eUK politics, to the 5th biggest party with the ability to run for Congress.

I contributed greatly to the Party's first and second manifesto, and I have just re-drafted our latest - something I will be pushing to improve and publish by the time our next Party President is chosen. I also constructed the Party Constitution (and am in the process of codifying and amending it), and served as the Party's first Chairman from December-February.

I have also served the South East as an MDU Congressman since the party has been able to field candidates for Congress - this is a job I very much enjoy and am grateful to have been given the chance to do.

What do I propose?
Tommy and Oexis have both done fantastically in running the Party and helping us grow even further. Their commitment to the job is exceptional, and if elected I resolve to carry on this "tradition". I am active, motivated, friendly (I like to think!) and experienced.

Our downfall as a party, I believe, is that few people outside the party would be able to "define" us, that is, to say what we stand for. I will work to resolve this by pushing for the updating of our manifesto and working to get more proposals out of the MDU into the Commons. We have to show that we deserve a place in the Commons; by sitting idly and watching as the political process goes by, citizens will become disillusioned with what we stand for - we must be more involved in the politics if we are to maintain our status as a party that means business.

As Party President, I would introduce compulsory weekly reports from department directors, so the Party as a whole can be kept more up to date on events that they might otherwise have missed. Department directors will then also have the advantage in the long term of learning more about eRepublik, which gives them a bigger boost into eRepublik politics.

Also, I would like to give newer members the chance to have their articles published in the party newspapers. We are a movement for "Unity" - that means everyone should have an equal right to have their voice heard.

On a final note, I would like to establish relations with "partner" parties in nations other than eUK. Whilst not wholeheartedly endorsing their views, we could perhaps send a MDU-member to them, and in return receive one of their members as a way of learning more about foreign politics.

To sum up:
*Experience, dedication, activity, motivation
*Manifesto update
*More MDU law proposals
*Greater MDU participation in the Commons
*Departmental weekly reports
*More VDU articles from MDU members
*Foreign "partner parties"

I look forward to your responses, and whilst wishing horseltd and Jay J Jeffery the best of luck on the 15th March, I ask you to vote CV JAMES for MDU Party President!
