Mr. Awesome is Running for Congress

Day 459, 17:23 Published in Australia Australia by Mr. Awesome

Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to announce that I will be running for Congress of Australia out of New South Wales. On the last election, I feel that I made the terrible mistake of not publishing a presentation of some sort. Many new players that have just earned the right to vote might have picking names out of a hat on election day. With this article my fellow Australians, I will give you a reason to pick me.

My citizen was born in Canada, but that place was just dullsville. Then I found Australia; they had a small population, but I knew that with an independence movement going on, everyone there must be there for a reason. Thankfully, I decided to move here and I have never looked back since.

I am active on eRepublik everyday, more than once a day, I work everyday (I have earned a Hard Worker Medal at every possible instance), I train everyday, and I read up on all of the Australian and international news everyday. I am also an avid editor on the eRepublik wiki; I have helped to update many of Australia’s pages, a task which is ongoing and which I will continue to work on. Party President Calibur of the Australian National Party even awarded me the position of Wiki Manager on the party Council.

Still a relatively new player to eRepublik, I think that I have learned fast. If you look at the number of political positions I have held (zero) you will notice that I have little experience, per se. I love politics and government. I am almost as obsessed with constitutional law as I am with eRepublik. I read every country constitution that eRepublik has and I have found that they are all far from perfect; this is the main reason that I am striving to become a congressman. I want to be a part of the writing of Australia’s constitution and I will fight to the death to ensure that it is the greatest in eRepublik history. I will not settle for anything other than perfection when it comes to Australia.

One of the newer and bigger issues that Australia has spawned is the debate over economic law (free market vs. socialism vs. communism). Here is my view on the kind economy that would best fit our country (and please don’t correct me if this was you idea first, I am just stating mine): we should have a majority free market economy with just a touch of planned thrown in. If you don’t know what planned is, it is when the government has control over a specific field or industry. Every RL country does (the USA plans the postal service for instance). Every citizen should have the right to open up whatever kind of company that they want, but the government should operate a defense system, hospital, and weapons factory (preferably Q5). This would mean that the free market would thrive in the true democratic fashion, but the things that the government must rely on in times of war will be at their disposal. Another option that I am considering but am on the fence over is that of the “government training facility.” Many countries already do this and it is basically when the government runs a Q1 food factory for instance. New citizens will be able to work there to get a good skill level, and then go to a different company. This puts money in the country coffers, but it also threatens the free market. I would love to hear some comments on this topic.

Of course, the Indonesia issue must be raised again. As I stated in my last article, this should not even be an issue, but some people are making it one. My stance is that we should maintain impeccable relations with Indonesia and just stay off of there bad side. If we go to war, we will be blown away by their 5000+ citizens. We just need to make baby steps, one region at a time.

Again, I implore you to take a good look at what Australia needs, and what I have to offer her. If you’re not really into reading long articles, here’s a summary: I want to be a congressman, work on our constitution, create a fair economy, and get Australia back together one region at a time.

Thanks for reading. If you have any questions or comments just leave them here or send me a message.

Have a nice day,
Mr. Awesome
