Anglo-Irish Pact

The Irish Congress are set to approve the pact with the UK with a resounding 'YES'. At present, the votes stand at 19-3 in favour of the pact. Whilst one can see the many benefits, there is a lingering thought with some... will Ireland end up like Belgium, unable to sustain itself so it had to be absorbed by the UK? Probably not, but let's watch this space, and hope that Ireland & the UK can work together for a long time.
Ireland can improve its world stage performance, and with an increase in the political activity (evident in the last elections) Ireland can be an asset for the UK.
Let's hope the UK can help our food problem!

I'd rather gouge my own eyes out than see that happen! (No offence to our UK friends

I'd give it a 1 in a million chance of happening. Belgium was even smaller than us also.
Belgium had about 100 citizens when the UK took it over. We are a vibrant independent country with a rich ehistory. Ireland will always stand apart
not going to happen soon if the brits took over, unless... that our population suddenly dropped by 500 citizens...
