Norsefire October 2008 Platform: Mapleism With A Human Face
Last month Norsefire introduced Canada to the Maple Revolution, a set of radical ideas that would bring this country a new chance at unimagined prosperity. In the September election Norsefire won a slight victory in Congress, but failed to achieve success in the Presidential race. But despite its electoral defeat the ideas of the Maple Revolution have remained, have grown, have spread, and have today undeniable changed the social and political landscape of Canada.
Norsefire is the party of progress. It is the party of change. It is a team of Canadians drawn together from all across the political spectrum who share a common goal: a better, stronger Canada. Norsefire is former CSD reform candidate jbdivinus, one of Canada's greatest mayors and most popular citizens. Norsefire is former CHAOS Congressman and Mayor Emilio Sanchez, a reformed anarchist who is working tirelessly to bring prosperity back to the Canadian economy. Norsefire is proud Quebecois Thormer, who seeks a prominent and respected place in Canadian society for the French language and the culture of Quebec. And most of all Norsefire is Banach, one of Canada's greatest military leaders and most respected newsmen. A man whose only wish is to see Canada achieve the prosperity and strength that it deserves.
Unfortunately all of Canada does not share Norsefire's dreams of a brighter future. Last month Norsefire's promise of progress and change was clouded by the CSD's demand for business as usual. And still today the CSD informs Canadians that there is nothing wrong with the direction this country is heading. But take a look around. Canada is in an economic recession, key parts of our government are inactive and ineffective, and our once proud nation lurches from crisis to crisis without any competent response from its President. Norsefire has been out of power for only one month, but ask yourself: are you better off now than you were one month ago?
Cottus Arci has brought destruction to Canada, and that destruction has led to a very rough road, but it has also bred creation. Norsefire has developed many solutions to the problems created by CSD misgovernment, some are being adopted now by the CSD themselves, many more will be adopted during a Norsefire government. Canada must no longer be afraid to move forward on the road to creation.
Last month Norsefire promised a Maple Revolution. This month it promises Mapleism With A Human Face. The revolution has already succeeded, but it has been a grass roots effort. Now together we must tame this unwieldy demand for change and progress. We must organize it into an engine that can drive Canada forward. Together we must embrace new ideas. Together we must reject 'business as usual'. Together let us move towards a brighter tomorrow. Lets put a human face back on Canadian government.

Norsefire Platform (Supplementary)

National Holidays- There will be official holidays treated as days to pay homage and respect to those who deserve it.
1)Prime Minister Day-An homage to all the great Prime Ministers of the country.
2)Victory in Canada Day- A day to commemorate the end of the war.
3) Working Citizen Day- A time to remember and thank all the people that keep our industries growng and our economy flourshing.
National Memorials/Attractions-Start off by erecting a statue of the unknown soldier in Manitoba, the bloodiest battle in history at the time. Manitoba saw many Canadians fight and die and many of them are nameless. This statue is a beacon to those who quietly picked up arms and foguth for country.
Change of Title-The title of the Head of Governent/State will be Prme Minister and his subordinate will be the Deputy Prime Minister.

--
Military Strategy- With the announcement of new tatics and strategies for war, a President will now also be a Commander in Chief of the CAF. The CinC, with the Defence Ministers and General will discuss strategies and tactics and pass down the information to colonels, who pass it down to lieutenants/captains who instruct their subordinates.
Military Expansion and Education- The recruiting process will continue into V1 and the rosters will be finalized. The officers will be briefed and assigned to their branches. The platoons will be named. Recruits will finish their training, and the government will equip all members of the CAF.
Maintenance of the Military Logistics Network- It will be a key issue to once again have the Minister of Defence and his deputy administer a weapons company. This will enable for the minister to personally hand out weapons through the new “drag and drop” system. A Q3,Q4 weapons company will be the bst option to equip our soldiers. Subsidies will still be given for moving tickets.
A Professional Army –Being a military officer will now be a paid job.
The officers that receive pay are the General and three Colonels. Wages are fixed at 6 CAD for every day of active war. The Military structure will be changed to a more flexible system of quick-reaction and manageable units. Starting with the officers at the top, each officer will first go through boot camp, administered by the Minister of Defence, Education and Heritage. Once the officers are up to par, the recruiting will begin. There will be three parts to the Canadian Armed Forces, the Home Guard (reserves), Rangers (active), and the Canadian Special Air Service (Special Forces). Ranks start at private and promotions are given for attending training, quality service, leadership, listening to orders, out of battlefield help.
Default eRepublik ranks and medals will not be looked at.
Reccomended Army Service- Signing up for two months as part of the Canadian Reserves or Regulars or Special Forces is greatly encouraged for every eRepublik citizen. What this does is strengthen the unity between all Canadians, teach them the tactics of war, and provide a constant stream of highly trained manpower. Let us stress that this is mainly for educational purposes and does not require you to do anything but learn and defend your country from home!
Veteran Compensation- Each military service member who has a legitimately documented history of exceptional service in the Canadian military and a minimum rank of Lieutenant (Not in eRepublik terms, in CAF terms) is eligible for a subsidy for a Q3 or Q4 house. If they already have a house, a subsidy will be given for free-spending of the veteran. This subsidy will be based off the lowest selling price of a house of that quality.
Minority Relations

Peaceful Agreement-The Minister of Minority Relations will be tasked with negotiating with minority groups within Canada. This will be to prevent further instances of dissent from the population due to lack of acknowledgement. Any problems that arise will be taken care of methodically and the requests of minorities will be respected and taken into account when making critical decisions.
A Haven for Refugees- Canada is a country friendly to all people and accepting, not just tolerant, of their cultures. Any war refugees or refugees due to other reasons will be accepted and looked after. Just as in the case of Australians coming to Canada or freedom fighters staying after a war, it is important to outline that these refugees will be treated equally and be given the same respect that law-abiding Canadian citizens. Efforts will be made to start refugees of and contact them in their native language.
Resource Protection- Many foreign investors will travel to Canada to set up shop and take advantage of our abundant resources. These foreign manages must not be allowed to run loose on our bountiful lands. The government will make sure to monitor these companies to ensure a similar case to GIFT 4 US does not occur.
Foreign investors have to be treated courteously but the government has to put their foot down and punish, using the constitution anyone who decides to abuse Canada’s friendliness.
Foreign Workers- Due to intercontinental partnerships that include Ottawa partnering up with a city in Iran and the capital of the largest country in the world, Madrid; it is important to be aware of the migration of foreign workers to Canada for work opportunities. These workers must be taken care of, paid fair wage and made comfortable in our society.
Communications

Official Newspaper-There will be an official newspaper created to report Canadian Government news to citizens. Delivered using the shout system and in two languages, this information will most likely pertain to military actions, breakthroughs, new political info, emergencies, etc.
Bilingual Announcements- All official news released by the government will be in both French and English. This is to reach out to all people living in Canada. Francophone citizens make up a fair amount of the country’s population and it is only fair to make this media available and understandable to them.
Shout System- The New shout system will allow the government to release important messages to every citizen in Canada! This option will be used for the most important messages and will allow the receivers to keep track of any new information.
A Bustling Forum-The Communication Minister and his deputy will both be forum admins and will be responsible for taking good care of our eCanada forum. There will be occasional reminders for new citizens to register on the official forums.
Canada Front Page- The front page (AKA “First PM Tutorial”) is a tutorial sent to a citizen born in a country. Citizens born in Canada will receive a in-depth tutorial about aspects of eRepublik and how it relates to Canada. The tutorial will contain important information that includes where Canada’s forums and IRC are located.
Heritage

Updated ‘Cyclopedia- The Minister of Heritage and the deputy will be responsible for updating the Canada Wikipedia entry with pertinent news and for encouraging other citizens to contribute. Although well endowed, the Wikipedia article is lacking some information and needs constant updating. As this entry has been noted to draw Canadians into registering, the importance of unbiased, interesting information is exceptionally necessary.
APP Invention- Canada can be a leader in APP design. Big Brother, a Canadian is the father of the eRepublik Stock Exchange. A team will be set up to brainstorm and work on various projects. This will be a great way for Canadians with computing and design skills to get involved and change the quality of life in Canada and the world.

The forums are in good hands as it is with the current Admin team. This is unnecessary and considering the amount of work I have put into those forums since their creation I am offended at the implication that my leadership of them is not good enough. This point should have been discussed with me.
Noone is implying that your leadership is not good enough. There is a reason you were selected unanimously to be the Minister of Communications along with Shugo.

You act as if these problems were directly caused by CSD, when in fact, the prosperity Canada has been facing, the fact that we are surviving quite fine, is probably due to this government. Its completely backwards to not only spread paranoia, but then act as if what we are afraid of,is our fault.
This entire election is about to be fought over a manufactured predicaments. I\'m not talking about the rough economic stabilization, but I\'m talking about the perceived faults of CSD. I\'m talking about this obscure, unspecific references to \"destruction\" and \"misgovernment.\" As everyone already forgotten was has been accomplished.
Oh man, this is useless. I\'m sure on Oct. 2 I\'m going to be shouting: \"Lets thank good old-fashioned fear for electing our next government.\"

Yes, the 1st two-thirds of September were utterly trouble free - until Norsefire got the better of me, with so many accusations that it got me completely disillusioned with the state of Canadian politics. You have complained all month, to the point where I simply don\'t listen to anything mentioned by anyone from Norsefire.
Ahh, the Norsefire propaganda machine - the best of it\'s kind.
