1st of January General Elections

Dear Citizens,
The first day of the year brings the national elections in Erepublik, you get to vote for who amongst all citizens will be your country's President and your country's Congressmen for the next month.
Citizens will have to choose between the top 5 parties (considering the number of members in each party) from their countries. The Country President will be chosen between the Presidents of those 5 parties.
So if you want to directly influence the politics in your country, don't forget on the first day of 2008 to vote.
We will be trying to nurse our very probable hangover's replacing the UN for the monitoring of the elections to ensure they are fair and straight.
Meanwhile we have an extra reason to celebrate this night: 10.000 Citizens are living in Erepublik.

Congratulations for the 10.000 citizens of erepublik, of which at least 9.000 fake users😁 But come on, let's face it, black market makes all the economies run smoothly, even the americans would have a problem without the columbian chalk🙂

Had my former boss on the friendslist, quit working for him since he dumped the wages after the first day. I´ve only plaid for a few days but getting money from different people with one minute intervalls is a bit suspicious.

This is stupid. What happens if two or three parties all have like 50 members and are on the fifth place? Which one of them do you get to vote for? THIS IS NOT DEMOCRACY!
I think it would've been better if these elections were postponed for a few days, because there will only be a small number of users voting and it's true, this is not democracy.

elections are every month. if you want to have the vote on the same day every month surely one time in the year you are going to have a problem.

I don't like the limit that only makes you able to vote for the 5th biggest parties. Would be better if it was at least 10 but best if its no limit at all. Whats really the difference between a party with 50 members or one with 51? There is 3 parties in Sweden fighting for the 5th spot and all got around 50 members. One of the party suddenly got huge boost to member count and surpassed the others so many believes it is the work of cheaters. It made the other two parties fighting for the 5th spot unable to take it since it all happened quite fast. With a no limit system it doesn't matter as much how big a party is since all can be voted on. Although most members vote for their own party some are not a party member and might like others parties more.
Most countries have some minimal requirement necessary to make it onto the ballet, whether it be party size, number of petitiosns, etc. So no problem as far as I can see with the policy.

The right way is : 1st Jan - party elections (so you can have an idea of how is the structure inside each party); 10 Jan - local elections ( in Europe the locals are before the presidential election ); 20 Jan - Congress and President
Well, Doesn't really matter does it? It is in that order already. Party (10) - Local(20) - President(1). What date it is doesn't really affect much.
Knowing there are 10000 users and I'm in top 100 makes me happy 😛

Now... if we could just get the election results certified so the winners could take their offices -- their terms are very short only one month long so time is wasting quickly!
