Mexico City, Mexico- After ten days in office and three failed war proposals the Mexican president Alfonso announced that he was done with trying to annex Mexico with Spain. The reason for this sudden change of heart is most likely not a revelation by Alfonso but more a realization that he does not have enough gold in Mexico to keep putting up war proposals. Even though he does get some of the gold back from the proposal he does not get all of it and after three attempts he has drained the Mexican coffers. The Spanish president would of been able to donate gold to Mexico but seeing as the war proposals are not passing it does not look like it would of been worth Spain's investment.

This announcement marks the end of a ten day saga in which the world waited to see if Mexico would become a part of Spain. Although most Spaniards and Mexicans were against this the President of Spain supported the takeover and the new president of Mexico had some friends in congress who voted yes to annexation. His friends from Spain did not turn out to be enough and with increased international pressure and sympathy for Mexico his cause grew tougher each day eventually forcing him to resign.

The announcement was a huge victory for nations in the Pan-American alliance who feared a Spanish presence in the western hemisphere. With the threat of Spain alleviated the PANAM can now focus on the situation with Indonesia who is at the doorstep of Brazil and Argentina. As the United States secretary of state I will do my best to get the PANAM more organized to face the Indonesian threat and any threats to come in the future.

In his announcement Alfonso stated that he felt that the worst part about it was not him failing to annex Mexico but the international reception of his actions and the fact that he could not get one of his proposals through. He does hope that Mexico rebounds from this and has said that he will do what he can to help salvage the economy. This will be difficult if all the gold lost in war proposals does not return but at least it is a step in the right direction for Mexico. However Mexico should still be on the look out to make sure they do not get politically taken over in the next election again because even though Alfonso has steeped down that does not mean that someone will not rise up and take his place next month. Mexico has also dissolved their MPP with the United States. The motivation for this action is unknown but it should turn out to be insignificant as neither country is headed towards war.

This is a rough translation of his announcement thanks to Bl1ndn3ss that you can read [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-506461.html]here.[/a]

"Considering you dont want me here, I resign.
Before I resign, I created the "Secretaría del Trabajo y Prevención Social" (Work and Social Prevention Office - I cant remember the right word for "secretaria").

I believe that if the companies are well managed, plus the money that Rey_David or giles took from the "banco de mexico" (National Mexican Bank), (if they return it) you can eliminate unemployement and rise the country to a new level. (some words of my own along with those of alfonso)

I'm saddened by the fact that the merge with spain never happen. It's your loss. But the worst was saying NO to any proposal I made and the international pressure I suffered.
