Election Results and Commentary

Day 256, 08:35 Published in Canada Australia by Tony Stark

Well everyone elections are over and done with, and we have seen the largest majority government in Canada since Derick Braham was swept into power after the War of Nave's Toe. But despite the scale of the win of Norsefire Party leader Adam Sutler and his party, this election bodes well for all parties.

The Presidency:
After a month of confusion centering around the mandate of a vice president in power, the resignation of an acting president, and the circumstances in which said president came to power, Canada has once again elected an experienced political leader with enough of a majority to dispell any confusion. With over 53 votes in this election, Norsefire Party Leader and acting President Adam Sutler was was elected to the presidency by a wide margin, granting him the mandate he needs to push through his reforms, including the Canadian Constitution which has been resting on Congress' shelf for some time.

The elections also oversaw a surprising number of votes going to The Darkness of the Liberal Party of Canada. The Darkness has been somewhat of a media recluse as of late, with the only exception being his posting of his party's platform. But despite his lack of personal rapport with voters, eCanadians felt fit to bless him with 21 votes, a testament to his policy-making abilities. What he lacks in personal charm he more than makes up with his intelligence. While his party has lost a substantial portion of its power, this cannot be surprising given its tubulant ride through the last month. This solid base of support seems to indicate that the former CSD is not a one hit wonder, as it has merely suffered a setback.

In a similar boat is the Canadian Paradox Party leader Tinnerholm, who secured 15 votes despite not even developing a party platform. This is a true indication of the loyalty of the Paradox Party stalwarts, who guarantee that the party will not die anytime soon. If Paradox can do so well without any policies, imagine what they could accomplish with a viable plan for the nations future.

On a darker note, voters also cast votes for the living-impaired candidates as well. Wrath252 and Sedikitt recieved 4 and 3 votes respectively, despite their inability to do ANYTHING this past month except exist.

If there is a loser in this race, then it is OSHI President GrahamKeatley, who's party did not have enough members to grant it official party status. As such, Graham was forced to sit out this election.

Congress

In the Congressional elections, eCanadians have seen their second Majority government in history, as the Norsefire Party secured some 21 seats and 55% of the popular vote. This grants their party a solid base upon which to place their electoral agenda, including the tax changes which we have all been so eagerly awaiting.

Norsefire Congressmen include:
Johnsson007
G-Ram
Tony Stark
Banach
Banana Suited Doofus
Tantis
DJ Doug Pound
UnBe
Shaddy Joe
Eric Boucher
Gamer007
Defiantly Sin
Brick!
Shugo
Red Greene
Doctor Tesla
The Todd
Augustus Baldwin
and Uraczak

The presence of many of these unknowns in congress could very well shape the future of our parliament. These are the wild cards that make it interesting.

The Liberal Party managed to eke out a solid base of support as well, with some 23% of the popular vote and 9 Seats. This will allow the former CSD to take up its former position as the main opposition party, with several respected congressmen joining ranks with several of their greener members.

Liberal Congressmen include:
The Darkness
Nefarious
Karolus
Darth Cronos
Saleengomani
Golemapr
Jesse
and Matt Mclanders

True to his word, the Clown Prince of Chaos has already taken his own Liberal seat and crossed the floor to the HA HA HA Party, reducing the CSD's hold on congress to 8 seats, and bolstering the resident anarchists party to 3 members.

On the same note, the HA HA HA party managed to secure a significant amount of votes, enough to keep it relevant until a new party leader is chosen. Already the Clown Prince of Chaos and Andreas Connolly have shown themselves to be candidates for this race; so it should be entertaining to see two Anarchists tear into each other.

HA HA HA congressmen include
Clown Prince of Chaos
Sedikitt
Gabrielle

The Canadian Paradox Party also managed to maintain a bas of support, with 16% of the popular vote and 6 seats. The CPP have been reduced in congress, but considering that they did not even release a party platform, it is suprising they even exist at all. it should be interesting to see how well the CPP can work together in the next election, and whether or not Tinnerholm will be able to retain his leadership this time around.

CPP congressmen include
Tinnerholm
Kommie
Smook mcSmok
Emperor Genesis
lazyflies
and Foreign25

Finally Wrath252 of Conquest secured its only seat. This means that as soon as wrath faints in 10 days, the party will be without its only congressman, which is the risk one assumes when their party leader is completely inactive.

All in all, an interesting election indeed.

Bottoms up everyone!
