Presidential Address: New Cabinet, Election Results and Executive Orders.

Day 195, 08:40 Published in Canada Canada by Adam Sutler

My Fellow Canadians,

Today I am honored and humbled by the results of last nights Federal Election. You have given this little Islander who was thrust into the political spotlight the brass ring, and for that I am grateful. I recognize the great responsibility that I now bear, and vow to uphold the values of Canadians, the Norsefire Party, the Reclamation and the constitution when it is formed, during my term in office.

First I must offer my congratulations and condolences to both of my political opponents, Cottus Arci and Prussian King. For the first time that I have seen, the Canadian Public was treated to the closest thing to a real campaign in the lead-up to the election. I regret that the C.P.P. could not engage in the campaign in the same way. I too know the stress which can be caused by a sudden transfer of power, and to Prussian King I offer my condolences. But despite a mere one day of notice, he secured 10 Congressional seats and a large number of Presidential ballots. To Cottus Arci I extend my congratulations on attaining his goal of 20% of the Congress and a substantial proportion of presidential votes. Needless to say I look forward to next months elections when a real three-horse race can develop, but until then I hope that all three parties can work together to improve the quality of life in Canada. I encourage all members of Congress to become or remain active members of the eCanadian forums. http://ecanada.forumotion.co.uk/index.htm

As President of Canada, I must now appoint my new Cabinet for the month of June. The following people have already been informed of their appointment and have been given a mandate.

President and Minister of Constitutional Affairs: Adam Sutler
Vice-President and Minister of Finance: Derick Braham
Minister of Foreign Affairs: Albert Ainstain
Minister of National Defence: Det John Kimble
Minister of Health: Kerozine
Minister of Industry: Banach
Minister of International Trade: Prussian King
Minister without Portfolio: Cottus Arci.

As Vice-President Derick Braham will be responsible for all political, military and economic decisions in Canada if I am incapacitated, inactive for a substantial period of time, or dead. Should such an event occur, he will have the authority to sign contracts within the Contract section of the eRepublik forum on behalf of canada, including MPP's, N.P.C.'s and Trade Agreements.

As Minister without Portfolio, Cottus Arci will be taking an advisory role in Cabinet until the Constitution is formed; at which point a Ministry of Justice portfolio will be opened, thus freeing up other Cabinet positions.

In conjunction with CSD Leader Cottus Arci and CPP Leader Prussian King, I am issuing the following executive order:

- Whereas we wish to ensure that Canada's political parties do not fall under the sway of corporate or other outside entities due to financial considerations, the Government of Canada will seek to keep these parties financially independent. To do so, the Government of Canada will absorb the costs of a set percentage of each party's Gold Tax in direct proportion to their Congressional Vote Share to a maximum of 5 Gold. The following table sets out the criteria for said donations.

-10% = 0 Gold
10% - 19.99% = 1 Gold
20% - 29.99% = 2 Gold
30% - 39.99% = 3 Gold
40% - 49.99% = 4 Gold
50%+ = 5 Gold

This will not count retroactively except in the case of the Federal Elections of June 1st.

As such the Current political parties shall recieve the following amounts:

Norsefire Party of Canada: 4 Gold
Canadian Paradox Party: 3 Gold
Canadian Social Democrats: 2 Gold

To all Canadians I say, Thank you for this great honor and responsibility, and until the next time, God Keep our land Glorious and Free, and once more,

England Prevails!

- Adam Sutler
President of Canada
Leader of the Norsefire Party of Canada
Minister of Constitutional Affairs
Mayor of Charlottetown
