How It Feels to Be eResurrected After a Decade - An Introduction

Day 6,032, 13:15 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Laskii

Hello there fellow eCitizens!

I hope you're all enjoying the bank holiday! This is just a little introduction and an overview of what I hope to use this newspaper for. I've been meaning to write something for weeks, but when you've got two lil nippers keeping you busy it's easy to get sidetracked...

So here's take 7:

Let's get right to it.

Who am I?
(I'll keep it short because talking about yourself is gross).

I'm Laskii 🙂 (shock) I'm an eResurrected player who has recently returned from a decade-long aaaaabsolutely blissful period of hibernation. Although I don't have much experience in this game - and all of the experience that I had accumulated (though limited even then) has been lost to the darkest recesses of my pea-sized brain - I do have a lot of experience on another prominent text-based RPG, which I believe will stand me in good stead when I get my head back around the intricacies of eRep. But ultimately I play online games to have fun. I'm not overly serious and you'll rarely get me to engage in an argument (this will probably backfire now). My gaming motto is:

I also like to help people and try to (although I do fail at times) remember that there's a human being behind every username, which is why, 99% of the time, I like to offer a helping hand. So, if you need anything hit me up!

WHAT TOPICS DO I WANT TO COVER IN 'I AM OK, HONEST?'
As a newly eResurrected player I want to post articles on my experiences navigating this new eLandscape.

The eLandscape has drastically changed since last I played. Before I quit eRepublic was a savage place. Every inch of land was fought for tooth and nail. We eBrits frequently got a hiding by more powerful Countries... but in typical 'Tommy' fashion we always got back up, dusted ourselves down, and gave the opposition a jolly good wallop around the ear.

I have no idea what has happened over the last decade so I won't comment on that specifically, however, I think it's safe to say that eRepublic is now a very different game. Activity levels have dropped across the board, and we seem to be in the middle of a (prolonged?) period of peace, training wars, easy medals, and people complaining about other players sniping their medals, like a Karen in Starbucks after finding out that her triple whipped oat milk caramel decaf frappuccino has cows milk in it *aaaand breathe*

I'm hoping that I'll be able to share some of my experiences with you, and that it may - at least in a tiny way - help some of you ancient buggers see things from the point of view of a little field mouse noob that barely has the strength to pick up an ammo pack, let alone fire a bazooka up the backside of the enemy... and that this in turn helps with new player retention in the future.

INTERVIEWS. INTERVIEWS. INTERVIEWS.
Have you ever wanted to know a bit more about your fellow players? No? Bugger off...

The eLandscape may have changed drastically but there's still a whole host of interesting characters knocking about. I've already seen a boatload of infighting and politicking that would make little Rishy blush... and I've also come across some phenomenal people who are helpful, generous, and a right laugh.

With that in mind, I would love to run a series of interviews where people can get to know their fellow players better. I'd love to interview the bigwigs, the young guns, the polarizers, the up-and-comers, the outcasts, and everyone in between.

If you're interested please reach out in the comments, or in a DM!

COMPETITIONS
If there's one thing that I know, it's that you lot love a freebie...

Although I'm pretty broke by most players' standards, I'll be using this platform to run various competitions so be on the lookout! 🙂

I've babbled long enough. Thank you for reading and stay tuned for the next edition of I am OK, honest, which will (more than likely) be an interview!

Before you go...

I kinda want to change my name but I haven't thought of anything I like yet. If any of you have any name suggestions, please chuck them in the comments. If I decide to use a suggestion I'll reward you for your trouble. The only suggestions I've currently been given are:

Reggie the Veggie (thanks Woldy >.>)
Mrs Immanuel Kant (no prizes for the person who guesses who suggested this one)
Laskie (AMD spent a lot of time coming up with this name)
& Lord Sarnie... (I'm on a low-carb diet right now so...)

Not the best... HELP!

+

As this is my first-ever article I'll be sending cash prizes out at random. To be eligible, all you need to do is comment! I'm hoping this will make up for my atrocious punctuation... (forgive me).

-Much love,
Laskii.
