If you are scared by long walls of text, the summary of this article:
-Epic wars on Tuesdays are important

- Fight in an EPIC war on Tuesday Morning until you reach 500 Prestige Points and you will double your energy regeneration
- Login a couple of times a day to eat (your energy will be full every ~3 hours), and fight using full energy 3 times per day
- You will earn more rewards from fighting and ranking up, and earn a net 2 energy bars from the weekly challenge rewards
- D4 players: unless there is word of a guaranteed epic, fight until you get to 500 Prestige Points regardless of whether the battle is epic or not

Hi Baes. I'm writing a short article today in honour of Weducationsday, which took place yesterday and saw my last 200 gold given out to UK new players who asked for help to upgrade their training grounds. Fear not, there is funding in place for a bumper New Players Friday tomorrow, and the RAF's future is secure! It just means that I'm a paupering peon for the near future unless or until my best friend leaves me to farm gold on the battlefield.

Anyway, the key part of this article is quite simple: to show everyone that fighting with energy bars can be profitable. I've explained to various new players over my eternaCP run that fighting in epics is a key part of the game, but instead of calculating exactly how much to fight, and what the rewards of fighting are, I encouraged people to just use their FF (Food fights, ie, fighting without using energy bars or gold) in an epic battle. This was wrong. Upon closer inspection of the rewards of the Weekly Challenge, I have calculated that based on people logging in a couple of times a day to fight, and ensuring as little energy wastage as possible, tanking in epics can make players a net profit, so long as they do it wisely. Whilst this advice is predominantly aimed at newer players, it is also equally applicable to company owners, weaker-strength accounts who don't fight for battle hero medals, or those who are simply going through the two-click motions. All you need to do is ensure as little energy wastage as possible, and you'll hit the target prestige points.

Before I give you the figures, I want to once again remind players of the Weekly Challenge. The 'points bar' tracks the points you have earned, and allows you to claim various rewards. It is located at the top of the homepage, and resets at 00:00 eRepublik time on Tuesdays. Tuesday morning is a key part of the game, because countries everywhere will organise EPIC battles to help their players gain points.

Epic battles are important because of the rewards given to those who participate. Whilst fighting in a normal bar, you receive 1 Prestige Point for every fight, so 10 energy = 1 point. However, in an epic war this doubles. Thus, 10 energy = 2 points. As the rewards for the weekly challenge include energy bars and energy recovery (increasing the amount of energy you regenerate every 6 minutes), it is especially important that some rewards are gained as soon as possible, to maximise the amount you gain. Thus, Tuesday mornings are important - to gain these rewards at the beginning of a weekly challenge will mean you can enjoy them for 7 days; whereas if you gained them on a Sunday, you would only benefit from them for 2 days. This is why countries organise these battles, and this is why I have spent the last few months posting updates to Epic battles every Tuesday morning. Now we know the importance of fighting on Tuesdays: the question remains; how much should we fight?

Note: Because Division 4 epic battles are so scarce, I would advise all D4 players to use all their energy to hit on Tuesday regardless of whether a battle is epic or not. Should there be a pre-arranged epic I will let people know the day before. Otherwise, use your food fights to fight on Tuesday Morning to gain the first few energy recovery rewards. For everyone else, the advised amount of Energy Bars to use is listed below;

The first 10 rewards of the Weekly Challenge will increase your energy regeneration by 1 for every 6 minutes. Thus, that's an extra 10 energy per hour, an extra 240 energy per day, and as long as you fight on Tuesday morning, over 1600 energy per week. These rewards are given at the following milestones:

5 / 10 / 15 / 25 / 50 / 75 / 150 / 300 / 400 / 500

Assuming you fight in an epic battle, you can multiply the numbers above by 5 to receive the amount of energy needed to earn them. Thus, to gain our full +10 recovery / 6 minutes, we'll need 2500 energy. Assuming your energy bar is full at 650, we can rely on food to give us just over half of this, assuming that we leave our energy at 650 on our last login, we'll recover another 650 overnight, leaving us with 1300 energy in total for fighting.

As you can see, this will leave us short 1200 energy, or 12 energy bars. However, there is no cause for concern. By completing the Daily Order (DO) of our Military Unit (MU) every day, we'll receive 7 Energy Bars, meaning our net spend is just 5 Energy Bars. The Weekly Challenge will give us these energy bars when we reach 2300 Prestige Points, meaning that we will essentially get all of this additional energy recover for free.

Assuming that we use our energy smartly, and don't go inactive, we can reasonably expect to gain this by logging in several times a day - which most new players do anyway. As our energy will be full every ~3 hours, if we login to eat a couple of times a day, and fight twice a day with full energy (1300), we will be able to reach 2300 Prestige Points on Monday evening.

As there are earlier rewards of 1 Energy Bar (1050 Prestige Points, 1800 Prestige Points), should we reach 2300, not only have we earned our 12 energy bars back, we've actually gained 2. As well as this, as our energy regeneration has basically doubled, we'll be able to gain even more rewards for ranking up, as we are basically halving the amount of time we would have to wait to regenerate the energy required to earn them.

Whilst the game does leave new players at a prohibitive disadvantage in regards to strength, the Weekly Challenge can be used to double your healing abilities at no net cost. Using this extra energy will mean you can split your time between ground and air rounds to earn Energy Bar rewards for ranking up too, adding to your profit. So, whilst it may be disheartening to max out at ~30,000 damage in a battle whilst others around you drop ~6,000,000 or even more; fighting smart can give you the extra energy to keep up in air battles. I hope this article was useful, and if anyone has further questions about any of the content, you can use the link below to contact me - I'll happily answer any of your questions!
