Hello eWorld,

I haven’t been writing this kind of articles for a long time, probably because from my perspective not many interested things happened in that time. But now it happens. In this article I’ll try to be as objective as possible and give you a full story about what has been going on behind the curtains when it comes to this game’s diplomacy, war and other stuff. This article is supposed to be a geopolitical analysis of the eWorld we’re all part of. American Airstrike on Croatia has been just the final say of what has been going on in the past few weeks, maybe even months.

Another thing I’d like to point out is that - by saying “Americans” or any other nations which is going to be mentioned in this article I won’t be talking about the community, but about those who run those communities. Sometimes that’s the same thing, but most of the time it isn’t.

Past few months...


As you all probably know Asteria is the strongest alliance in this game, it’s an alliance made of strongest countries and in all honesty they are the most organized bunch of countries in the game. Asteria members are: Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Peru, Iran, China and Portugal. The other alliance existing is Pacifica which is made of Poland, USA, Hungary, Mexico, Latvia, Sweden and few others, not really that important for the whole picture of the article. The third block of the countries, without official alliance (except ANDES as regional alliance) are Chile, Turkey, Croatia, Argentina, Greece and several others. I’m not mentioning them all because most of them didn’t really played huge role when it comes to geopolitical aspect of this game.

During the past several months there’s been loads of talks between the ‘Third block’ and Pacifica members about how can we defeat Asteria together, at some point USA has decided to go almost completely to Anti Asteria side and they’ve been the ones who represented the anti Asteria part of Pacifica, together with Hungary. Mexico and Latvia would be ready to follow them, while Poland always remained much more on proAsteria side of Pacifica, together with likes of Sweden, Finland and Taiwan. It caused massive division among the Pacifica members and many people were wondering if Pacifica is going to survive that division. USA was completely active with coordinating its damage and operations with the ‘Third block’ which reflected in several new MPP’s signed between ‘Third block’ countries and more Anti-Asterians within Pacifica.

One of the countries which connected those two sides was ex-Pacifica member - Greece. USA and Greece were kind of a friends for several years, USA seen a protector in Greece and a strong country to rely on in diplomatic aspect, while Greece enjoyed USA as their alternative to whatever happens with their alliances.

Mostly this relation was based on individual relations of the country’s representatives. Eventually, since Greece was no longer part of Pacifica and since they became part of Anti Asteria block USA started to lean to that side too, leaving their other friends (also based on individual relations) such as Romania. USA has really tried hard for most of the time in the past years to do whatever doesn’t make Asteria mad, so they even stopped the constant trolling of Bulgaria and Macedonia they used to do, it would disrupt their relations with the bigger countries such as Romania. But now, since Greece has left and since few more relations has been formed USA made attempt to lean more to Anti Asteria side.






Past few weeks..


During the past few weeks Hungary and Greece made strong offensive on Asteria and proAsterian countries such as Spain. Those invasions has been pretty successful and they’ve pushed proAsteria side from their colonies in Arabic peninsula and northern African countries. Things were changing and things were changing to better for anti Asteria side until Turkey has signed a NAP without informing Greece about it. It’s important to say that Turkey wasn’t really a big part of the recent invasions so this NAP didn’t have much meaning to it, if anything it would make Turkey more able to help. Greece then, made very hard to explain move and declared that they’re neutral from now on. Probably thinking the same way USA usually thinks. It was a strong kick to Hungarian invasion which was mostly made to help Greece. That’s when the things started to complicate.

In a nutshell, Turkey did a small, not so significant wrong move which affected Greece, but Greece responded with a total disrespect to all of its allies who’s been helping them to restore their colonies in the northern Africa and in Arabia. Especially Hungary.

Not only that this move has been significant kick to Anti Asteria side, but it also had strong effect on Pacifica. Since Greece became neutral USA realized that they’ve been running the wrong politics in the recent months. For them, wrong politics is anything which results with them being on the weaker side, regardless how it affects their current friends and allies. That’s exacty what makes the rest of the world dislike them, weather they’re allies or enemies.

Their pragmatic decisions through the recent history of Erepublik made them one of the most hated nation in the world, but it worked, at least until nowadays. It worked because they’ve made themselves look invicible, they’d always have tons of various MPP’s on their side and somehow they’ve always find themselves on the stronger side. They didn’t pick the tool to get them there, they just did that. Is that a success or not, it’s up to you to decide. In v1 and few years after it it would be considered as a bad thing and usually that kind of countries would be beaten by the rest of the world, no one would defend them. But since we got ourselves in ‘farmville’ era of Erep, this was actually seen as a good move. Which probably it was, diplomatically wise.




Past few days...


As much as USA has been seen as successful diplomatic center they’ve never actually had a strong firepower, their alliances are mostly just based on mutual MPP’s, which is how the game works today, they’ve adopted well. But, there’s always ‘but…

When it comes to real battles, most of their wars were against few times weaker opponents and the battles would be heavily funded by taxpayers money. USA just don’t have the firepower or the ability to motivate those they share MPP with to fight with them.

Diplomatically wise, they were still strong, but very damaged because of the wrong move to lean to anti Asteria side, which resulted with re-thinking about that whole idea. USA knew they lost friends in Romania and most of Asteria countries so they tried to do what they always do - change the side and bring America back to the stronger one. Pacifica realized that even with the ‘Third block’ they won’t be so dominating in the world, especially after Greeks neutrality so it was expected that they next move will be something to make their Asterian friends forgive them for their sins.

Croatia was a perfect option for that, not just because Croatia has always been Anti Asteria, but also because they wanted to get rid of Hungary, the last Pacifica country which is fully Anti Asteria. Hungary had MPP with most of Anti Asteria countries, including Croatia. USA thought they’d kill two flies with the same hit by attacking Croatia. They will get rid of their friend who’s on their way to stronger side and they expected this move would make them return the friends from Asteria.




Past few hours...


Only 2 days ago USA has launched totally unexpected Airstrike on Croatia, they expected all of the Asteria and Pacifica to support that move, but they forgot to calculate people’s feeling and loyalties in their formula. Since they couldn’t just say “We need to do this because we want stronger side to like us and we don’t care about Hungary anymore” they had to find some excuses. Easiest one was to say that their intelligence informations are that Croatia is planning attack on USA.

It was pretty easy to realize that’s just excuse, but they didn’t even bother to come up with something better than that. What happened next was pretty fascinating in today’s world. USA launched Airstrike and against all the odds Croatia defended it. USA has used loads of CO, they expected their allies to join them in their battle, but it didn’t happen. On the other side, Croatian mentality is really weird one.

For example, when Croatia fights against Serbia in never ending war not many will use their bars, probably because they fail to see the point in having those wars. It resulted with Croats having loads of bars ready for this AS, especially when Airstrike came from someone they never considered to be their enemies. USA wanted to use Croatia for their diplomatic goals, but they failed miserably (this word actually desribes it fairly well). Not many friends helped Croatia neither, it was Croatian mentality which won the war and furtherly it was Croatian mentality to propose a counter Airstrike on USA. Once again, against all the odds and regardless of few more airstrikes coming for Croatian regions, Croatia has managed to land in the USA. Something many other, much ‘stronger’ and much more backed countries couldn’t do.

There’s numerous reasons why Croatia did that, first one being that mad mentality and the other one was complete passive 'help' by Asteria to USA. It’s the message Asteria has sent to America. It’s a sign that world might started to appreciate honesty and loyalty over the diplomatic interests and farmville once again.

I could go on and on about how Croatia managed to win, but this is an article written from the diplomatic point of view, so I won’t.




Next few days...


It’s hard to expect Croatia can keep the American cores, but it’s Croatia and it’s usually a country which functions best when they’re fighting against all odds. There’s more and more allies jumping in the battle for Croatia and there’s much less money on American orgs, they’ve spent at least 5-6 times more money than Croatia did so far.

On the other hand, there are few more Airstrikes coming Croatian way, it seems like the whole Pacifica is fighting against one country. Asteria is just chilling right now, they don’t care or want USA back on their side, they probably realized they would leave them at the first chance they can. It will be hard to fix that.

Regardless of all the hatred on Balkans, there’s always some kind of mutual understanding when it comes to ‘pride’, ‘honor’ and loyalty. Even Croatian biggest enemies such as Romania and Serbia has been loyal and honourable most of their history. Unlike likes of Poland and USA. That’s exact reason why Asteria isn’t backing Pacifica in this whole war. On the contrary, I expect much more Serbians to fight for Croatia against Pacifica in the coming days.

The game is kinda changed and Serbia has been on the winning side for a long time, they are also bored and they would probably be happy to feel passion in this game once again. Let’s not forget they also have direct border with USA. I’d say odds are low they’re actually going to do anything, but don’t forget that Balkan is always strongest when it’s fighting against all odds. For now, it’s just Croatia though. Interesting days are ahead of us.

For one, I’m hoping that American way of diplomacy won’t work in the future just like it didn’t work in the recent few months, it made the game to what it is now, not Plato, not mechanics. It was always countries who stopped appreciating honor and started to appreciate damage. If that would change, the game would change too. Regardless of the ‘side’ those countries are coming from.
