I've been asked by a few dozen people "Why attack Croatia? Why not ?"


There isn't a quick and simple answer beyond this:

Despite what some would tell you...Croatia is not a friend to the US, and hasn't been for some time.

They've supported foreign agents (some Croatian, some not) who have meddled in our elections. They've undermined our military efforts when we were allies, so that things came out in a more favorable situation for themselves, without any thought beyond their immediate need. They've very recently attempted to incite an aggressive war towards us by a third party.

There was a time, near the beginning of my existence in this 'new world', where we were friends. I still to this day have good relationships with a few Croatian players, and have some good memories of shared experiences in our alliance IRC channels. But those days are over. They have been for some time. One of the most obnoxious 'American' military leaders we've had was a Croatian player who later went on to be their Country President and actively be a pain in our butts. Though I can't help but thank him for being unparalleled in how quotable he is.

Other players conflate Croatia and their own country.

Croatia is not Albania. Albania is not Croatia. To my Albanian friends, please understand this distinction. No matter what others will tell you, or how much money they now spend on you, I am one of the oldest allies to the Albanian players of this game. I'll never forget you, and I'll never attack you. This is me speaking personally, not as President. I would sooner be removed from this office than take offensive action against the Albanian community in eRepublik.

On the domestic front, hello everyone. Some of you laugh about the airstrike, some of you are angry, some don't understand. Sorry. I knew we could lose. There's always that chance. However, I wasn't content sitting and doing nothing, and this taught us a lot. Even in defeat in that single campaign. We have seen which of our friends stand by us. To that en😛

Thank you to Poland for the damage yesterday. I saw you with us. For those who don't know the history...I once dissolved an alliance with Poland (with this same President, Prophet 😘 ) because we couldn't come to amicable terms. Times change, things evolve.

Latvia, Sweden, and Colombia coming in with Air Strikes to support us. Could not ask for a more swift response from these friends. I will not forget that you stand with us today.


There are a lot of unknowns going into wars against substantive opponents. Anyone worth their salt knows that, and that's why we planned for both of the possible outcomes.

Agree or disagree with the decision, this is where we are.

People may say that I was crazy to make this move. That it lacked in finesse. I know I've seen both being said recently.
