The new millennium project - results and next steps
Aus Prime Minister Office
Hello peoples! This is the update that I'm fairly sure isn't required because you all know the results... The formal results of voting in The New Millenium Project.
I'm not going to waste your time reading or my time writing by going over old ground and cataloguing what has been voted on.
The vote results are below, with two votes that I am recording as informal (i.e. not clearly Option 1, 2 or 3).
A clear winner has presented itself, which should save a lot of arguments later. Thank you to those that took part, with a big thank you to the two citizens who aren't terrified at the prospect of me being installed as Dictator!
If your vote landed in the minority, please accept the wishes of the majority with good grace. This particular topic will come up from time to time. Perhaps working on the public's perception would be a better use of your time than complaining and griping?
What does it mean?
It means that nothing much will be changing. Your elected Senators and I will still argue and wrangle about the details of every proposal. Sometimes, the more things change the more they stay the same.
I have always welcomed proposals from individual Senators or their respective parties, although this is worth stating clearly and publicly. If you are a Senator considering a proposal it is good form to float the idea for discussion in an article beforehand, then draw everyone's attention to it by the in-game mass message.
As it is now quite clear that we will remain a democracy for the forseeable future, I urge all citizens to consider running for election on February 25. The time commitment is not large, and it does feel good to give something back.
Citizenship passes
Last week, as well as under previous democratic dictatorship goverments, we experienced issues around the issue of citizenship to new applicants. For clarity's sake, a citizenship selection committee has been established to provide advice to Senate on the acceptance or rejection of citizenship applications. Senators are reminded to follow the advice of the committee and that two wrongs do not make it right. This committee will be active until the next Senate (Congress) elections.
And then?
Citizenship passes are awarded to individual Senators, not to a Military Unit, not to a Political Party and certainly not to the Country President. It is each Senator's responsibility to use their pass wisely and for the greater good.
By extension this means that Party Presidents should consider Citizenship Passes when deciding their party's ballot order. If a political party feels strongly about immigration and border control, it is the party's responsibility to communicate their proposal clearly. And before the election if you want to actually implement it.
We are going to stay democratic for the forseeable future. It's time to take responsibility for your own country!

sounds good
Smells like hard work though!

I still have a massive issue with this CS thing. This month we have a committee next month "And then?"
Nothing, we are back to square one with no protection. Why is an ASIO group/individuals not being installed monthly with recordable forms as it had been successful in the past?
Because in the end it revolves around a congress vote. That hasn't worked well and doesn't work in the current environment. Split threads make it impossible. Nobody in senate would use a Google Form, beyond you and me.
You want a director of ASIO and senate votes on all applications? Put it in the ADP congress platform.
My committee solution is interim and has clearly been explained as such. We needed something to give us functionality for the next 10 days. It is something. If you love the concept and just want it tweaked? Put it in the ADP platform. Hell, nominate a member to the committee even!
I am not everyone's mother, here to hold their hand and tell them it is going to be ok. People voted for devolved authority in remaining a democracy. Authority comes with responsibility.
Before the Dictatorship module we had a democracy. In this time we used ASIO.
ASIO takes the problematic part of back-ground checking away from congress to allow them to pass in citizens based upon being "safe". Each and every congress members still has their democratic rights by either accepting a "safe" new member into our community or to not accept them.
ASIO was the front line to prevent as much as possible unwanted citizens with an unbiased view without party, MU, government ties.
All these interim band-aid solutions only leave us with the same issues the following month. Asking for a PP to take ownership of their members is the greatest laugh in the game. Most PP's couldn't arrange their list for congress, make a party thread or wipe their own a$% for that matter.
An interim solution is going to leave us open for PTO, in-fighting, tit4tat voting.
It is not an ADP thing, this is a government thing to protect borders.
I know there was ASIO before the dictatorship module. I helped bring it back after the XenthuS dictatorship, during Henry's first term. We do not have to keep doing the same thing. 🙂
Rather than one person directing ASIO traffic and checking references we now have five (four if you don't count me). We vote before passing on a 'safe' candidate, which helps limit the circle of friends effect. Also limits potential abuse of process.
I know it's not an ADP thing. I mentioned the ADP because you're one of their leading members. Sorry about that, I should have been more clear.
Honestly, I am OK with continuing the current approach next week, next month and the rest of the year. Until I hear a better idea (as opposed to just a different idea) and see someone take it to an election then it won't be changing. If any particular PP can't organise a party in a distillery then perhaps one of the party's leading members (and/or titled members) could do it on their behalf.
We seem to be in furious agreement that individual senators are responsible for their own pass use. 🙂
tit4tat voting... I might be wrong, but when someone else brought that up shortly after the revolution, I am pretty sure you said it would not happen....
Much like your comment to use ASIO until you settled in Dic position and then it was out the window?
No Guag, you didnt want to keep running it and never gave any hand over notes or any information on how you ran it....
But I see now Guag, the only pre-requirement for CS is to be a MEK fighter nowadays... mmmm yet you still to do an article about that?
no move ahead not behind going back to the old ways is exactly why we are here cause they didn't like it they stuffed it . insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result but be warned if the village idiots don't like it they will not abide the vote
There may be an element of petulance amongst people who don't like losing votes (whichever way it went). I am glad to see that guns and CC are not being thrown about with abandon.
Later this year we can revisit the decision and hold a new vote. Unless circumstances change I don't see the result changing. We had 8 months with a CP/D. Let's try democracy again and see if we can work together enough.
I agree 41 votes is a great result.
Now, accept the outcome, and government should work together on the next main problem:
41 votes. From an "active" population of 416 (around 10% voted/care).
...How to grow our "active" and "active active" population.
I've seen one "active" congress presentation recently. Don't wait until the 25th to remind people you exist, or let your party leaders do that for you.
Ranger.
Whatever "IT" is I am strongly opposed to "IT".
But if you have a compelling argument I will listen.
Unless someone else has a good point.
At which time I reserve the right to consider a different view.
Then again I may have good cause to change my mind.
How dare you refuse me the privilege to make my own decision!
OF COURSE I'M IN FAVOR OF "IT'!
I'm in favor of "IT" and cannot fathom why any one would oppose "IT".
^Thought process of most politicians.
Ah, pronouns. Beloved of the ambiguously and superfluously verbose. 🙂
