Stumbling into the New World
Another Nobody of Anarchy
So I stumble upon this interesting looking game after a google search while I’m bored, and I decided to make an account. Sure enough once my account is activated I get two seemingly automated messages from our “glorious” country president. The first one, a pop-up, telling me to fight the Brits from the British Isles, for no reason whatsoever, how nice to inform us new citizens of the war and why we are fighting /s. Naturally of course I ignore this first message, and go to the second, a general greeting, this one specifically giving me some general advice, first and foremost telling me to join the military…
The second advice given on the page, stockpiling gold, weapons, and energy bars, which excluding buying this newspaper, I figured must be some sound advice. Thirdly, what seems to be some communist propaganda telling me to work, train and fight, and fourthly not to waste money on health packs which I have not yet seen, so I believe I have avoided the problem entirely.
Now lastly I was given a link to an article, that according to your calendar, is over 1100 days old, found here: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-mia-top-5-tips-and-pitfalls-for-new-players-plus-more-2099120/1/20
Now having read through them, I kept them in the back of my mind, trying to figure out which ones are not obsolete as I make headway into this so called “new world”, to avoid any pitfalls and common mistakes.
First thing the missions suggested was working, so I find myself the highest paying job, as there seems to be little specialization, and earn some cash before making myself some food. Then I train like the propaganda tells me to.
To my disappointment, the game doesn’t really allow progression without fighting in wars. Whether this is some broken mechanic, or just part of the game I don’t know. So I “patriotically” joined the war against the British, and fought a couple of enemies, and leveled up quite quickly, until I ran out of my ability to restore health. With my daily tasks seemingly done, and unable to complete my missions yesterday, I decided to browse the media, and what seems to be an ongoing debate about “forums”. Lacking knowledge on the subject I skimmed through the articles, not really being able to form an opinion, due to the lack of experience. But interested as I was, I decided to seek out these so called forums and see what I was missing out on. Well I admit, I kinda got lost, and don’t really have a clue what goes on there except “official government business”.
So logging in this morning (well its 11:30 here), did my daily tasks again, fought, joined a Military (albeit I want to make that temporary just to complete my missions). Leveled up enough to buy this newspaper, and wrote this.
So that’s everything that has happened until this point. If anyone has some more recent advice, it would be much appreciated.
I guess that’s it
Signing off,

The document writer for articles is terrible for formatting (doesn't allow any use of the tab button for some reason). Apologies about the format, still learning how to make it as readable as possible.
After buying your newspaper save all your gold that you make from now on. You have to upgrade your training centers starting with your free to train set first, For every 250 strength you train you get 5 gold. Once a month the game offers a discount on upgrades wait for the sale.
The game is only as good as the effort you make to become involved in the community.
Welcome and good luck. If you need any help or advice feel free to let me know.
Welcome! Yes, the new citizen message is outdated and we are currently discussing how to fix it on the forums. We are fighting the British because they are our eternal enemies, don't ask too many questions! (jk, it's because they are one of the only non-friendly countries on our borders that we can fight and wars = money through True Patriot medals).
I would direct you to our National Citizen Supply Program where you can apply daily to receive food and weapons:

I like these angry noob articles.
Some advice:
- Continue hating on the Country President. She's awful.
- It's safe to ignore the forums until you become more deeply involved.
- Raise a ruckus. We're left to create our own entertainment in this "game," and angry people fighting for change are more fun.
- Any time you write an article, keep Google Image Search open. Search for large-ish images that relate to your content somehow, and add an image every 3 - 5 paragraphs.
- When in need of weapons, food or other aid, seek out the Minister of Education, or ask your Military Unit for assistance.
- There's a place for angry, intelligent persons in the Military Dictatorship Party.
My biggest piece of advice is to concentrate most of your time, once you've done the starter missions, on the Politics and Media modules - particularly the Media module. Much of the exciting stuff in the game is to be found in newspapers. Read foreign newspapers as well - some things cross borders - I'm reading your article from the UK.
If the military coup in Canada is successful, there may be a bit of a wait for serious politics - but there's plenty to find out about internationally.
Try to fight enough to get 750 prestige points each week - the moving tickets come in handy if you travel.
