How the admins killed the game
Varia.
Last year I wrote this article Demographics of the Alliances with the new Divisions where I analyzed the impact of the new divisions, specially by destroying the main reason for a new player to stay in the game, that is, knowing that he matters on a battlefield. I also sent a ticket to admins showing why they would kill the game, if nothing else was done.
There are always players leaving, no matter how good a game is, the key for keeping a game alive is to have a regular flow of new players.
By using the same source of information (egov) let’s see if the reasons for my concerns had any substance.
The article, written almost 11 months ago, has data collected from eDay 2290 (27 of February of 2014). The new data is from eDay 2609. In this table we can see the population of eRepublik, according to egov.
The total number of eRepublik population is now 54.694 (29.415 less that 11 months ago) a 35% decrease.
The sad news from all this is that now the admins recognize it, but besides the new players they are also given up of older players. That’s the reason behind the lack of innovation and lousy missions in the last year. They are developing new games and will just maintain the minimum amount of people to take care of eRepublik.
There are a lot of solutions to keep new players in the game, not doing nothing is to kill the game and the admins are responsible for that. The reason why no one is staying nowadays in the game is because they can’t have any impact in a battle. Imagine that you start to play the game today. Even if you spend a lot of real money upgrading your training grounds to q4, after a month coming to the game every day you will have 2.754 strength and that would be a ridiculous damage compared with the 10M-20M that many players do easily in D1.
I know that many older players say they don’t care about this kind of problems, but just think a game without new players is a game without future.
To end the article I revisit the countries demographics.
In the tables below eW% represents the percentage of that country population by comparison to the total amount in eRepublik. The Divisions percentage is in comparison with the eRepublik total for that particular division.

Excellent article! V+S+E
As usual good analysis. If a decrease of 35% in the worlds population is not taken seriously, probably nothing will. The problem of being in a game where the strenght is accumulated slowly across the years, is precisely this. For new players its not interesting because they cannot compete with the old ones. And if you, overide that and reduce the handicap of new players, then the old players will complain because they will feel betraid.
The idea of divisions when created was a good one, but it was good for that place in time, not for 2 years after. Probably now we would need 8 divisions to sort things out, and this would make managing a war... (fun/crazy/nightmare) ?
But the key mistake done, in my opinion, is making this game, mostly about war. A new player does not need a lot of investment to be a politician or a media mongul. Conceptionally they would not need a lot of investment also to be an economic mongul, currently they do because eRep Labs do not want to have their paying clients making a lot of money in business and investing less RL money, so... fixing the economy must wait.
When you transform a society building game in a war game you have to aknowledge that this will appeal to different demographics and that if the handicap for new players is large than you will slowly but surely kill the game.
These are my thoughts exactly. The game is not dying because of the Divisions, it is dying because the big appeal of becoming a society building game with all their aspects included room for everyone has faded almost to the end of the candle.
The economy was my big motivator, and with the economy working you can actual make a difference in defining political aspects of the game or having a considerable influence in the outcome of a war without the need to have a huge strength.
But it must be pretty scary to look to the Reports that the game must have and seeing the level of people dropping dead and/or newcomers not sticking for more than a month.

I agree with almost all your analysis.
But, again, I must repeat the same thing: in the economical part the community didn't make their part neither.

Nice work

nice work.. i wish these people were real and not 60% multies, as admins admit.
do the really admit 60%?
check for an interview bonte gave to clopoyar.. check his twitch
France Babyboom?
Is dissapearing as fast as it come. The problem is not to get someone new to register, the problem is to make them stay.

who wants to play a boring game where you need to train 2 years to achieve enough strengh for your division?
nobody. Every year you need to train more to win your first shty battle hero medal.
Plato is killing all the present and furute div 1 soldiers. THIS Game is harder for the new players. That´s really stupid because it´s like closing the entrance to everyone anda saying "GTFO. We don´t want new players"
an online game can´t grow like that.
It seems that admins want to make the old players spend more money NOW and then end this game forever. this isn´t a Strategy that will keep Erepublik surviving for much longer.
in 2017 this will be a game with only D4 players and their multies in the lower divisions.
the question is: will eRepubli exist in 2017 ?...
i hope not! 🙂

For me the problem is not the divisions, the problem is the lack of competitions and new funcionalities that make new and old players motivated.
I think a kind of wheel of luck giving additional temporary strength and rank points could be a solution. The wheel should be designed to level up the players in their divs, allowing a rookie player in one div to measure forces with the highest strength players in the same div. Of course this is only a general idea.
Excellent work. Voted

4 years playing this shit game and when I started the motivation for me was based in economic module, nowadays is possible that I have one of 100 best storages in game and even with all upgraded at max there is no will to play this game.
Why I am keeping my account alive? easy because I stupid and am "afraid" to send a ticket to delete the account after 4 years of hard work to get this lvl, this was one reason why plato is doing shit updates day after day because he know there is always players that have this in mind.
In the end even if some player spend 5000€ in this game he will always be a dummy to plato in the end this is his game so he will do what he want and he do not have any reason to complain because there is something in registration that we should read first = Rules and faqs.
He do not want to fix the economic module because he will lose real money but he do not mind to lose player this is stupid.
No players = no real money easy as that.
But some day will be the D day.
There is a old saying:
A blind man is always blind
The economic module is really a shame. Would be a great motivation for many players to play the game. Especially now, with the military module in the state it is.
