Short Annoucement

Hi Kids!
Don't have time to do this proper. I was going to write a funny article about running against DMV as an alternative but it got gobbled up by the internet. Anyhow, I woke this morning, prepared to go to work and find this.
We had allowed the US to keep Quebec for the iron bonus until they could secure one elsewhere. This is only a gentleman's agreement, but an agreement nonetheless.
I have no idea who this MU is, possibly an over enthusiastic friend, but still they should have been asked to take this CO down.
In short, if I'm elected CP I will have my people watch that this sort of thing never happens. We should have had an article up explaining the details of the agreement and there should have immediately been a MoD article ordering Canada to fight for the US. I just can't be quiet when there is a fubar like this. FA is a priority to me and it should be to all of Canada.

Truth
Meh, not really Canada's fault on that one. I saw the shouts about starting it.

I will admit, even I had no idea we had an agreement for eUSA to keep a region. If it's a true Canadian citizen who put up the CO I'm assuming they too had no idea an agreement was in place. It could have been publicised a little better!
Poor communication. I'm not looking to lay blame or start a shitstorm. My point it that people have said that Canadian FA sucks and that is part of the problem with our relationships in eRepublik. Although much better of late I do not disagree with this sentiment.
No matter what else goes on in our government FA MUST be ran professionally and with integrity. Otherwise we will be a joke.
screw the agreement
as the aggressor and a lousy neighbor during the entire 8 months we were occupied by Spain the US can kiss my rosy red ass instead of keeping any canadian regions
they dont deserve to be treated as gentlemen
I understand where you are coming from. As long as they treated us as children and made mockery of any peace talks I felt pretty much the same. Today it is all different and we must move on, being cautious of course but move on.
Rubbing someone's nose in it seldom has the desired effect. A little latitude can, however, foster some mutual respect. If we had made an attempt to help them hold Quebec for a month or two until they were ready it would have show that we are capable of reason and were trustworthy.
as the new pariah of the eWorld who cares if they think we are capable of reason or trust. They believe they are the most important member of any alliance they are members of and imo should never be considered reasonable or trustworthy
They will always do what is in the best interest for them while we have continuously proved that we are willing to jump in front of a bullet for our real friends and allies, we have our own issues but we usually make pretty good alliance members
It's impossible to foster _mutual_ respect. That would require us to respect them.
Aren't they only talking peace because they lost their alliance? They need to kiss our ass more than we need to kiss theirs. Give them nothing.
Since I'm obviously blabbing my fool head off about something that is not security related and is not relevant anymore as Quebec is ours, I will tell you that this all came about before the US leaving Sirius came to a head. I'm not privy to when the US knew they were getting the boot, nor did I want to be. That's an internal US affair.
I will say that no matter how big the dickheads are elsewhere, I don't intend to play at their level.
The reason no article was put out was because shortly after posting in the MoD Orders thread I received a response from the eUS that they were ok losing the region.
In short eUS citizens started the RW and the eUS still considers to the peace deal in place so there was no point notifying the public.
First I would say that I missed the last day and a half. RL issues and what not. Second I'd like to say that I'm not blaming anyone, I would just rather things played out differently.
My question, as an opposing candidate would be, why was there no point in notifying the public? As soon as the peace agreement was in place I would have explained it in detail. There was no secret information that would have made us vulnerable.
I damn sure would have put up a MoD article out explaining the situation when the Quebec RW started and asking Canadian's and friends to fight for the US. It does not matter who started the RW or that they were OK with it, that's not the point. We said one thing and did another. Results may have been the same but regardless the effort should have been made.
As you already know since you have executive thread access and private Congress access, is that they were only planning on holding Quebec a short time and had asked that their request to hold Quebec not be made public at this time. So unless you consulted with the eUS government prior to publishing this you violated what they considered to be the most important part of this deal. Actually publishing this without the consent of myself or the Speaker, since those are the only two way you know about the full deal shows you can't be trusted with sensitive information.
OK, I can play on that. Thank you for making it clear that this is to be an aggressive campaign.
I have sources (private, of course) other than your thread (which I assume I'm no longer part of) and Congress Private. I have as many or possibly more contacts in the US than you. Nonetheless if this was a security issue I would have kept my mouth shut. As the barn door was left extremely open and that the MoD thread is for MU COs, not government officials I'm guessing I'm not the only one privy to classified info.
I'm also wondering why the info is privileged after the RW they did not want happened? Little late to not say anything then. They never should have even mentioned keeping Quebec if nothing could be done to keep it because of security.
Anyhow, so be it. I will contact the Speaker to inquire of my status in Congress. Thank you for making this easy for me. Have a nice day.
I feel like I should put quotations around "sensitive" for you so that we can all be reminded of how meaningless this all is. 😃
It's neither aggressive nor personal, but please think before you post something like this next time.
Reading between the lines, I see DMV agreed to let the eUS rent Quebec for free and didn't tell anyone. That seems more relevant to the question of who should be the next eCanadian President than any question of leaking that happens after the subject territory of the agreement is already RWed.
Actually, there was no rental agreement. They were not planning on holding it for more than a week or so at last notification. This information was shared with Congress and they approved of the deal.
I completely concur with DMV that Congress was aware and this wasn't really a rental agreement, we were just being nice about it because the US was being agreeable for a change and we appreciated their attitude. Please do not read into what I've said anymore than it is. We had a gentleman's agreement where they would leave without any conditions and we allowed their request to hold Quebec for the iron temporarily. FWIW, the iron will do us no good until we can arrange to move our capitol back to Canada proper.
@Dennis, I do take it personal when I am accused of not being trustworthy. I said nothing until the deal regarding Quebec was blown.
Dill, protocol was broken. Things in CDC and the Executive thread shouldn't be released without permission. With thay said I moved for the thread in CDC to be reclassified so this article is no longer an issue.
Thank you.
I read over all press release from eUSA an eCanada and nothing about this kind of deal. Seems like a private agreement, probably a certain guy trying to recover money spent for bribes. So, my 200kk damage in Quebec without a BH medal are well spent.
DMV could not release the info as it was being discussed in CDC
Piclkle should not have released the info regardless of his contacts as he is a member of congress and this article is in violation or was in violation of Article VII of the Congressional Rules of Order

As Deputy Speaker and at the CP's request the information has now been made public to the public for the public to publicise should they wish
Here's the peace announcement and as agreed no mention of Quebec.

There was no need to even bring it up as it would take awhile to RW all regions back. We are also concerned about gaining our second India colony so that we can move the capital.
When the RW for Quebec started all hush hush became a mute point as we should have posted MoD orders to fight for the US. If necessary the US should have been contacted to get their opinion. Silence as the situation dissolved was not the best choice.
On the plus side it's not like this is a huge deal and it's over now.
The eUS was contacted first when the battle opened to see how they wanted to proceed. When I heard back that they were okay with losing Quebec no action was needed by this administration.
Thank you, this clarifies a lot.
o7 You have my vote, sir.
We saved Quebec for last which is the best we could possibly hope for. A government has no real control over RW's as we all should know by now.
Hodor
As you are the "leader of the opposition" and with the prematurly celebration of the current CP, you have my vote to make this elections interesting o7
