An Honest Review II ( Oblige The Fish Edition)
Oblige aka Daniel (To me at least)
Forever known as a Whale to the Public, Oblige is an interesting figure in his own right. His most defining figure would be his lust for power and control. He seems to never be content unless he has his fingers on the trigger. Whether it be his constant attempts at long term control of the presidency or his need to forever be in congress, Oblige is glued to important positions.
Oblige has embraced fully the idea of self-pity. If anything goes wrong with his plan, expect to hear him whining and complaining. He is very good at this; I suspect he has practiced for many years. When he isn’t wallowing in self-pity, he is taking credit for other people’s work. He is notorious for this and has gained a great deal of disdain for it; nonetheless he has continued this practice.
Oblige most contemptible tribute would likely be is treatment of his friends. The best and most horrifying example would be his betrayal of Younghood after he dedicated months and months ensuring his election and later his safety from censorship Oblige turned on him and forever ostracized him. Some people may think they are Oblige’s friend, but they are really just a resource to an end goal. Obliges has no friends, he merely plays chess with the pawns.
All things considered I wouldn’t be doing him any justice to posit that he is ineffective. Oblige is maybe the most effective player in the entire game, he has even placed the forever polemic figure of Pfeiffer between a whale and a hard place. I must proclaim my enjoyment for their rivalry as watching dogs eat dogs does have its entertainment value.
Despite all my hate for Oblige’s tactics I have never been able to gleefully hate him with as much zealous as I would like. It seems that I always try to renew some sort of positive relationship, whether it is my naiveté or Obliges ability to pull the wool over my eyes I must say, I have found myself crawling back to him more than once. Knowing fully well, that the relationship is more or less superficial. There is perhaps a forever esoteric quality to him, and one day I might be lucky enough to understand it.
In the end, it could be very well postulated Oblige is merely just a clumsy benevolent character. He intends to do well and to bring about a better tomorrow but seems unable to work in a meaningful relationship to bridge gaps with others. Oblige has done his fair share for the country, paying out of pocket for programs and resources, much more than other people. He just at times seems to be rather capricious, some may claim even intending the destruction of others, but I put forth his goal is to do what is best for the country.
In terms of real life, Oblige is very successful and for that he has earned my respect. While his in game behavior is less than desirable his success in the private sector goes to show the American ideal. For respect, I must keep the real life segment at a minimum but know that Oblige is a very wealthy and successful figure.
Needless to say, Oblige is a mixed bag, blinded by his devotion to the country he often finds himself stepping on the shoes of others and then embracing self-pity as he finds himself under attack. I hope you share my thoughts and feeling.

Oblige beat me to the punch.
Holy crap! He really does have to be first in everything.
And so I am.
Mostly crap, and poorly written. Oblige has his critics but few would support CG's version of the truth.
You last wrote an article on day 1777, so with all due respect I am going humbly disregard this. Also, I am sorry you hate my prose, we can't all be George Orwell.
I write articles when I have something worth saying. Too bad everyone doesn't follow my example.
Never underestimate the power of self pity. It treuely belongs to the Dark Side
I like Oblige
Well, no surprise - you being even more power-hungry then him.
You have found an honorable purpose with this series.

I presume it needs more cannabis to taste batter?!
LOL
Now you're talking!
CG
It is well known that Oblige has family money.
That's not something that deserves respect.
Respect is for people who start with little by comparison.
Well, I suppose he could be a man like you, who makes grand gestures and never follows through.
How's that candidacy for SC1 going?
You claim to be Conservative yet you are concerned with Oblige's family money? What he has or doesn't have is no one's business but his own. A lot of people here in the USA have taken family money and used it to build successful businesses. That is something to be respected. If the fact that Oblige has more money than you bothers you that much then go join the liberal dregs of society in the occupy wallstreet crowd and you can have all the class warfare you want. An actual Conservative doesn't lower themselves to the level of bitching about others wealth.
I could not agree with this more.
then respect more than half of eUS whose money you wanted to transfer eSerbia!
failure~

I don't like pants
What have pants done to you.
good work CG.
Voted
Voted cause we all like Oblige.
I don't. You just can't seriously like a man who claims to be a Caesar in his party. It sucks.
There isn't any claim about it. LAP voted to make Oblige dictator, thus Caesar.
That's the point - they voted with only letting some specific members in whilst blocking others.
Rotten party.
Well, in the Black Sheep Party, we don't approve of "Obliges [sic] ability to pull the wool over...eyes." Try and shear us, Oblige. Black wool never forgets.
That doesn't even make sense eShades.
its a shame that you didn't receive a blow job for publishing your article.....by the man himself, or at least one of his cohorts......
so beautifully articulated! I didn't even puke up my whiskey!
~hyuu~
I like sugarfree... foods. But not really. That's gross.
And Oblige is a funny guy.
Well, it's interesting... There's some clear bias here, but there are also some big chunks of truth. It's CG's opinion though, so I don't see anything wrong with that.
As for myself personally, I've always found our resident whale to be fairly interesting. For all the dislike of him there is floating around (some of it well-deserved), he always seems to come across as polite and fairly personable in one-on-one interaction, so I can't really dislike him much
That said, like many well-known players, Oblige's approach to the game is pretty clear. He likes to be in control and in charge, and he does not shy away from using whatever resources that are at his disposable to maintain a comfortable position.
Honestly, I don't have a problem with that, and as you've pointed out, those methods can often be fairly effective.
You should write articles - you would do great!
🙂
Best player-review I have ever read!

i am lacking something essential- Dr. W.B. was in eServia for some time now, until recently when he comes back!! before that was helping PTO lead by RGR. at meantime, in his new arrival he joins parties and is kicked out to form his own, tries writing articles to perhaps rewrite his wrong deeds of earlier days. picks on players like Oblige etc. to tell us who they are or what they are- despite the fact that most of us have been here and have witnessed their deeds. or is it perhaps because Oblige opened the door for him!!?
on the other hand Valiant Thor removes all his so called eRep friends from the list and says that he wants a proper intro by whoever wants to add him as friend. yet, he mingles around and, approves messages of this kind- which, in the written form they do consist of truth- but whatever is hidden behind the curtain of hypocrisy remains to unveil!!
yet, RGR seems to be most honest- despite his many layers of hypocrisy, he simply tries to speak his word and says whatever stupidity- but no more do i expect from him!!~
my question is, what are so many great americans doing here by commenting on this lameness!!???
jesus christ, i am seriously starting to doubt so much of unspoken truths about those blacklisted people!! could it be that they were asked to start licking a**es to make a place for themselves in the future- 'cause if so, that i'll do myself a favour and not talk!!
🙂
I dont give a fuck either way but if you respect someone for having money I really deeply pity you.
If you would like to pity me for wishing to emulating the successful, so be it. This is rather a non-starter from your view I guess. I am not entirely sure.
Defining success in money is also pitiful, and I'm not trolling or anything. I understand it's more of an American thing though.
