R.I.P. Jeremiah Denton - A Great Man & Patriot
Ronald Gipper Reagan
I just wanted to say a few words about this great man who died yesterday a few months shy of his 90th birthday. He deserves to be recognized as he was part of the greatest generation that made this country one we could be proud of, and not the disgrace it has become. They don't make men of his caliber anymore sadly. He was a courageous military officer who served in three wars, endured 7 1/2 years of torture at the hands of the Viet Cong, and never once broke. He also served in the U.S. Senate, a body which now is full of cowards who are not even a shred of the man he was. It actually brings tears to my eyes to think of the low caliber of people who replace men like this as the years go by and their numbers fade away. I fear for my country that this is a trend that grows ever worse.

He holds a fantastic loyality to his country however your view of the great America of his time is greatly exaggerated. He was led to fight in proxy wars that killed hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians in barbaric ways.
Thank that great America for today's North Korea.
The truth is we don't know squat about North Korea since the only info on that place comes from the biased media which is known to occasionally not lie completely.
Um, what? If it was not for America ALL of Korea would be enslaved.... this is why South Korea is such a strong US ally..... we helped save them from slavery! I think Vietnam was worth it to try to stop the spread of communism although the war clearly was not a success.
Actually, I believe NK and Cuba are in bad shape currently (at least from the intel we get from the media, I haven't been there, so I don't know for sure, although, Cubans tend to have a pretty high expected life-span, so the situation can't be that bad for them) because of the sanctions imposed on them.
China is a communist country, I don't see them starving, actually, I see them spending tons of money on eRepublik. And for a country with that many citizens and less than 10% of farmland, that, my friend, is quite an achievement. I'm actually pretty sure they'd be far worse with any other system of government.
Keep in mind China is communist in its authoritarian government only. It has limited capitalism which is why Chinese people don't starve and some are reasonably prosperous too.
Hail Viet Cong!
Fail unjust imperialistic tendencies!
RIP this guy, he was just a puppet in the hands of lunatics, yet he managed to display a pretty high degree of loyalty and patriotism which is quite commendable.
lunatics how?
They attacked Korea and Vietnam because they didn't like their political stance. And it's not even only those two countries, US leaders never stopped attacking everybody they didn't like since the end of WWII until now.
Actually the USSR & China supported the communists in NK, so we had to help the free people there protect and fight for their country.
Jeremiah Denton: fine man who would not have used a man's death as an excuse to say stupid things or rail against his country.
If you read anything about him you'd know he would be similarly dismayed with what the US has become.
Jeremiah Denton: a fine man, a conservative thinker who would never violate his principles and values hence he would never ever ever use a good man's death as an excuse to say stupid things and rail against his government. He demonstrated that. If I am mistaken, do show me an instance where he used a a good man's death as an excuse to say stupid things and rail against his government. I will then change my opinion of him.
The difference being he dealt with CIC's who loved their country.... he was swept in to office by the Reagan Revolution..... much has changed.
😁😁^
But he didn't change much, right up to the end of his life he was a fine man who would never have used a human being's death as an excuse to say stupid things and rail against his government.
You didn't know the man, so you have no idea. I am sure he felt similarly to me.
😁^ you didn't know the man ajay. It is more probable, given what he did write, and what he did do, and what he did believe, that he did not think it fine to use another man's death to say stupid things and rail against your government. I think he was probably a fine man.

How could he have fought in Vietnam If he was a POW in 1965-1973. The Picture Lied!
It's called look it up?.... he was shot down a month after his tour began.
